I think I heard somewhere that sometimes these publishers of the said game will get paid by the publisher of these consoles to intentionally ruin the PC consoles ports so they can sell consoles to the consumers, though not so sure about this since bad PC console ports exist since the ps2 days, I mean there's multiple of examples but I remember the Jimmy Neutron games always had bad PC games where the better ones can be found on consoles.
I recently got around to playing this on PC & this video is 100% accurate. Mercenaries 2 is not a pretty game to begin with but it's way better looking on PS3 & 360. I thought by now there would be some sort of restoration mods or something for the PC version but I guess there is just not enough interest. Great game though.

You would think that consoles nowadays are so powerful that they can do destruction focused game like this multiplied by hundreds, but no, lets just make another boring open world where the map is unnecesarily big and empty and you stealth all the way trough, no explosion, no destruction. @@Cacowninja I mean it's only normal for EA to do crap like that and destroy things, the company behind the mercenaries series was called pandemic studios and it was shut down, happily the devs still have their jobs and work for other companies but it's just sad, i'm a huge fan of both mercs 1 and 2, they were masterpieces, i prefer the first one tho.
It can, but 8c/16t might not be good enough for emulation. I'm using a Fractal 240mm AIO and it's at 75 degrees, I'll just wait. This isn't as easy sailing as PS2 emulation is.
I have a 3800xt and rx580. Runs Mercenaries 2 on RPCS3 at a stable 30fps with some upscaling. I can also run MGS4, Armored Core 4, Black Ops 2, and R&C Tools of Destruction with no frame drops, few crashes, and fee minor visual bugs.
The PC port was just garbage and never even worked right. PS3 is missing some depth of field effects and a few other things. Not a giant difference, but technically 360 is slightly better looking. That said, 360 version doesn't work on the newer Xbox consoles and I sold my 360 off long ago because my Xbox One otherwise plays my entire 360 collection. But PS3 still has a ton of exclusives and is worth keeping around. Thus, I kept the PS3 version as my long-term keeper copy.
@@cooparchive7857 I have a badass gaming PC and Xbox One plays all the exclusives I even remotely care about so... why would I keep a piece of useless hardware around? Especially something as forgettable as the Xbox 360 that was horribly undespecced for when it came out and caused a nearly decade long graphics and game-design stagnation in the industry? Also the Xbox One S is just way more powerful and I can use it as my primary streaming box for Plex and other services. Not only can 360 not do 4K or HDR, it can't even actually handle full bitrate Bluray rips without choking. It was a lame console depending on dead technologies and still using DVDs. The 360 was not a great piece of hardware and I'm glad to be rid of it. It offers nothing aside from a few Microsoft exclusive series that can't be played elsewhere, even then a huge chunk of the 360 library is playable on Xbox One. Including every 360 game I own except literally just Mercs 2. Why would I keep a whole console for a negligibly better version of a half-baked fizzle of a game like this??
Honestly, 360s are super cheap these days, so it's not a big deal to buy another one. I bought a 360 like 2 years ago for $60 off eBay. I still have my original Xbox too from 2002.

@@JokerMemeKitchen Both consoles were terribly choked on memory when they came out and were the reason for a long stagnation in graphics and game development. They're one of the biggest reasons Crysis held the graphics crown for so long.

And as always, PC got bad ports of any game, back in the days. GTA, Just Cause, Mercenaries, Halo, you name it. Sure, these days we had decent or even better ports for PC, but back then, we only have bad ports that we have to mess around with, to make it work. Like, Just Cause 1 was a port from original Xbox to PC, but with tons of bugs, where is Xbox 360 got a remaster. Or take Just Cause 2, that always crashes on PC with DirectX Fatal Error, that gives you different crash code. Like, in my case, it gives code 6 error. But it only happens when, in game, i go to the urban locations, like cities and stuff. Then it will crash. But, as long as i stay in jungle, or outside of the urban places, the game works fine. Then there is GTA 4 that has a worst PC port of all. Just imagine that, in 2008 you have to had like Intel Core i7, that wasn't even a thing back then, to play GTA 4 without lag. Or do i have to say anything about Batman: Arkham Knight? It was so bad that, the PC release had to be cancelled, to be remade fully, to later be released. But even after that, it wasn't as perfect as people wanted it to be. The same with any modern Mortal Kombat game. Like MK9 and X had bad PC ports. But when MK9 worked, despite slowdown, MKX has only a main menu working on the start. So yeah, PC always got a bad ports. The only things that was worked fine is the games that were released only for PC. Like take Stalker trilogy for example. It was working fine from the start.

Alot of pc ports are still pretty bad sellouts like digital foundry will say a unoptimized game is optimized. There are countless games Ik for a fact could run better with more optimization now a day they use tech like dlss as a crutch but that doesn't make the game optimized.
not only that, also, not willing to optimize the majority of games. you get a game decently working on a console with an ancient hardware while the same game requires a hefty PC with modern specs. Rockstar is well known for this, they are so bad at optimizing their PC games to the point that they couldn't get RDR to work on PC

Depende da versão, a de PS2 é bem ruim mesmo mas as versões da geração X360/PS3 são melhores em basicamente tudo, eu só prefiro a atmosfera e ambientação do primeiro mas isso é gosto.
Unfortunately, the main problem with this game was all the story rewrites as EA demanded the story "can't be political". I don't mean political like too many sassy 20-somethings looking to pay off their student loans by ki11ing people like out of the Saints Row reboot, I mean genuine commentary on different factions and their ideals and whatnot. Of course, given the settings the Mercenaries series took place in, that was just impossible, and that took a heavy toll on the story and the game as a whole. So much was left out of this game because EA kept rejecting story after story for being "too political" and thus the game creators couldn't figure out what angle to take, hence all the half baked characters and unfinished features. A true shame, this game could have been not just fun, but amazing.
I enjoy Mercs2 PC version. But the Port is so bad. Is buggyer then hell and turns off at random times. I even have the official purchased EA version. And its so broken sadly. Motion blur gets glitchy at some places, mapping controlls ingame doesnt work, game shuts down randomly without any crash errors, lacking detail's thats in the Console version (Like icons above ammuntion or weapons on the ground). I wish the PC version was cleaned up more. But considering Pandemic Studios is no more, that wont happend sadly. Nonetheless i love the game, and it will always be a child hood gem for me. I might consider trying out the emulator version instead, i bet my computer can handle it pretty steadily.

6900XT/5800X3D is a high end top-tier system, of course it can emulate just fine.
@@DesertTechMDR- even on my old 9400F + gtx 1650 i had no problem running RPCs3. Nor on my old R7 5700X + 3070 and now my 13600k + 3070.
How the hell did you manage to get the pc version playing? I tried everything to get the game to work on modern hardware and the game just crashes!

Only advantage with the PC version is the higher frame rate/refresh rate compared to console versions.

I downloaded this game from Origin a little while ago. It barely runs on modern hardware. I got fps in the single digits and it was very buggy.
