If you are imagining a modern boxing where Pollux is just punching people, please remind that the boxing of ancient times is way more similar to a vale tudo kind of fight rather than just punching people.
I happen to like Castor's personality. He unironically feels really "human" due to his irrational spite, which works with the more saintly foil of Pollux. Where as other "villianous" characters of Chaldea are either schemers or madmen, Castor is a lot more close to home as a mortal spurred by his insecurity of being a mortal. And I feel like during LB5 they were just having the most fun as antagonists while remaining genuine threats. Unlike Douman who spares us so we can "suffer" more, there really wasn't a scene where Dioscuri weren't immediately going for the throat with light speed. And their whole "Omniman" speech to the twins was iconic to me personally. Its not a popular job for sure, but they played heels really well to use wrestling terminology.
... hold up, wouldn't that mean there's a chance the reason Pollux is a saber due to "notable sword skills" is because of a mistranslation of "notable boxing skills" into Japanese during the research phase?
One thing I just noticed that I really like is that Castor is the ome who mentions that their love for each other is what makes them shine in the night sky. It must have been such a powerful moment to hear your brother choose you over inmortality
It feel like Sakurai just want to be cheeky with mythology being change over time without actually thinking about how it actually work. Not surprising since she is also the same one who handle most of Rome related servant minus Nero which is handle by Nasu only when she's in Extra game/Extra storyline in FGO, Constantine is probably under Higashide's responsibility.
Digest it bit by bit or simply focus on the characters youre drawn to then branch out from there. Then again i absolutely love the amount of depth within the Type-moon universe and like to look at it all as an ever expanding one to explore.
Well...an event where the Dioscuri appear, was at the beginning of the Halloween event with CinderElly and Zenobia. They were in the spirit of Halloween, happily giving candy to the child servants and being nice to them, especially Castor
One funny fact is that how they are portrayed with their VAs, with Maaya Uchida (older sister) and Yuuma Uchida(little brother) because IRL, Maaya is known being a brocon towards her brother, and with FGO having Yuuma voicing Castor and Maaya for Pollux, you get a hefty role reversal
20:19 - 20:27 I know the feeling, that’s exactly how I feel about both Koyanskaya and Caenis. I know Koyan is a ridiculously good Buster support, but I hate the character. The only enjoyment I got from her constant cameos were the time she got captured and tortured during the China Lostbelt, and in Fae Britain when your girl Melusine took out one of her tails. As for Caenis, ironically I found myself enjoying the twins trash talking Caenis and actually agreed with Castor when he called Caenis a rabid animal bearing its fangs at everyone and everything around it. And by the time we got to that final fight with Caenis at the end of Olympus, I was sick and tired of this character and wanted nothing to do with her. On the bright side, hey Daddy Iskandar is next 😃
Also fun fact their situation is explained in the character material books essentially castor and Pollux are the rappresentation of the ancient twin gods archetype that later do to the story of castor and Pollux assumed their proprieties in essence they both are the ancient gods and they got reincarnated later as castor and Pollux do to them gaining thoose names essentially castor got the short end of the stick and got no divinity in the process cause of the legend of him having no divinity being more popular leaving Pollux with the divinity (altho skills Preaty much pimply the loss of divinity is more a suppression than loss to their noble phantasm and skills) on their side also the description of their noble phantasm which not only is a series of combos but also temporarily raises their parameters near the status of when they were actual gods and their strength becomes quite high to the point defense and evasion is almost impossible(the reason for invuln pierce on their np). Also character material book confirms the version of events where castor died first u can see also by their madness enhancement which only Pollux has in which she goes nuts if castor is too hurt
Castor Gave Hercules a Golden Sword in one Myth and thaught him Fencing As For Avenger some Myths call him a Mortal while others call him a God So I guess in Fate going to God to Human made him Very Angry Also NP wise the np discription references Homer's "Hymn of the divine twins"
I wasn't since he said he liked the character design, skills, and CE (which I will refer to as aesthetics). I was expecting an E at worst since I always thought F was relegated to servants who didn't have anything connecting them to the original myth. So why even say the aesthetics were good if story was the main thing that mattered, like a servant with, say, a B rank story with a B+ aesthetic is overall A- but a servant with an F rank story and A/B rank aesthetics can't be E overall. It seems like aesthetics can be used additively or subtractively if it is good or bad only when the story is good but can't be used additively when the story is bad.
@ so here’s the thing, FGO’s Dioscuri is actually kinda famously bad representation for the Mythical(and maybe Pseudo-historical) figures Castor and Pollux. And I don’t pretend to understand Yurei’s rating system, but he said it best in the video towards the end, “You could have used literally any twin characters for this role and nothing would change.” This was a statement talking about THE GEMINI, the actual characters that word is meant to be used as a title for.
Regarding why Castor is an Avenger, even within PHH he claims to be against humanity for turning him from divine to mortal. This is because even if the (more recent) consensus is that he's from Tyndareus, some versions make Pollux son of Tyndareus too (like the Odyssey) and others make Castor ALSO son of Zeus (specifically the Hesiodic Catalogue). Considering they're also Syncretizing the twins with the older versions of the nameless twin gods, they went with "legends transformed Castor into a mortal after the fact", something close to Innocent Monster.
Ironically from their pages on the character material book it’s not just attribuition to legend if u look at it, it indicates one detail, before they were named castor and Pollux they were nameless essentially what happened wasn’t exacly innocent monster after they still call themselves castor and Pollux and still Have thoose connections to the them however ironically it seems to me that the book implies that maybe they reincarnated and experienced thoose lived and than after their ascension again remembered their past, essentially it’s more complicated than legends nerfed castor , it’s more like in reality they were probably closer to the version where they were both demigods but do the version where castor was a human being more popular it kinda rubbed off a little bit on their servant versions. Why it isn’t innocent monster? Cause of their noble phantasm which temporarily gives them their powers as ancient gods back essentially castor’s divinity is surpressed rather than it being gone, as shown in their divine core skill. By the way if u want to find it it’s on Reddit/ fgo guides where they have a thread of all the correctly available character materials
@federicofilippini6780 "more popular account rubbing off in the Servant version" *is* the essence of Innocent Monster. Popular perception changes the Saint Graph, that's what I meant, as I said it was similar to that. But yeah, the situation is much more nuanced than the game initially portrays.
You seem to have told the nicest version of the Dioscuri's death, since they didn't kidnap any bribes, but it still seems like it was entirely their fault. They accepted an eating contest, and they lost it. But they wouldn't keep their word and tried to steal the cows anyways. And when they got caught, fought, and lost, they were bailed out by Big Daddy Zeus. I don't think Lostbelt Dioscuri are really out of character.
They have a moment in a Halloween event (I want to say Cinder-Eli) where they give candy to child servants. That’s the only event you didn’t mention that springs to mind (in NA at least. Does anyone know if they get an appearance in JP?
Even though you had a bit of a hard time I do think the video ended up really well! lots of fun little additions, coverage was good, and even got them some time to tell us about their good side. The result is really fun to watch still!

So for your question about why they are brother and sister. It might because of the zodiac as if you google Gemini, a lot of the image results are two females and so I'm guessing that has sort of contaminated the original myth origins of two brothers. Maybe that could be Fate's in lore excuse? I mean that has affected other servants in a similar way where they look different because of how people think of them. Now I don't know how Japan visualise the zodiac signs but maybe that's where they got the idea to gender swap one of them?
Literally the guardians of cavalrymen and sailors. Mostly depicted with horses and spears (sometimes even as horses). Fate/GO Ah yes a saber class Servant.
Great video. Fate has a unique take on them.😅 Notice you mentioned the Proto-Indo twin gods thing. Funny that in those tales the twins have a younger Dawn sister Goddess, and Helen is associated with the Sun in a way. There have been depections of both twins being young men or teens when Helen was born. As for their fathers. It seems the Greeks from Homer's area has it be the King of Sparta, and are buried/in the underworld. As for Hesiod's area Zeus is the father. The concept of them being half brothers seems became popular in Roman times. Ovid I think, he was known for changing things with Medusa being a example.😄
Other commented it as well but believe the design you were drawing a blank on may be either the design on her abdomen or laurel wreath crown. Nice video as always!! By the way, they come back in the main story during the Avengers Ordeal Call, so we may get some more from them in the future. Asides from that I also don't think they have much more going on.

Another guy in the comments made a pretty good point , the reason for the genderbend is that the gemini in many art works are depicted as brother and sister which might have contaminated the actual myth ,But at the same time in wast majority of cases a servant is genderbend it is atleast brought up once, while no one as far as i am aware has ever acknowledged pollux being genderbend .It is like pollux was always female and was recorded as such .
I can understand how you're supposed to write the antagonist of the story not likable for the sake of satisfaction to see their downfall, but it's also bad when they're going to be playable because they should be likable for players to want to get them. And the funny part is they did too good of a job, a lot of people (me included) hate their guts. I mean, at least Pollux we summoned is nicer but Castor? F*** that guy! I'd use any "inferior" ST Sabers over them in a heartbeat (And I don't have them yet, so I never have to decide it) in fact, I still have Musashi as my top ST Saber, and Trung Sisters if I want to use ST Arts Saber.
Funny since Douman is written by the same author and there are a lot of people like him. Guess that the difference between total jerk and pure evil villain.
To be completely honest, if it wasn't for your old video about sanson, I'd continue disliking him for his role in Orleans. Maybe this video will have a similar influence on other people.
Personally, I didn’t really care the final grade of the Dioscuri, they were my top 1 hated characters in all fate franchises not because they accurately wrong, not because I didn’t like design (they’re good), but because the writers made a “too way” great job on making me hate them. (My top 2 hated is morgan cause domino effect and top 3 is Artemis (who the f*ck is that brainless bimbo wannabe and where the hell is the badass goddess of hunt!!!)). The funniest thing of all, is that Caenis was supposed to be my top 1 hated character, but when the Dioscuri appears and began to act, my mind was like “holy hell! Those guys are worse” and the more lostbelt 5 progresses, I began to respect more caenis (despite I still didn’t like him) and to hate more the Dioscuri. Great video anyway and sorry if my wasn’t good
Long story short, I hate her because how the game and people tries to sell me that she is tragic character, when in reality she just a stupid but necessary evil so that her fake damned kingdom doesn’t fall to pieces that in comparison her subjects of her fake kingdom, she is the one who stands the best, and because of the 8th anniversary (basically personal resentment that evolved like dominos and for the worse if you want to see it that way) and the only why she is my top 2 hated character, is because I’m fully aware that my hate against her is not normal and even immature. Note: just in case, I don’t like 9th anniversary either, in fact, in my opinion, both 8th and 9th anniversary are the worst anniversary of fgo In general
Btw, today is apparently Nasu’s 51st Birthday.

2:45 I didn’t know you are a furry 😂
WHAA?!?
I wath you made a video on tomoe gozen or zainaba
Who is Zainaba?
@CrazyYurie you know the sexy araben woman wath dark skin and aethlatic body how have golden chans and has tons of mems on her almost half naked body
Great video anyway and sorry if my wasn’t good
Domino effect for Morgan? I don't understand. Otherwise I understood just fine. :D
