  • 3 cylinders. 300 hp. 3 exhaust tips for some reason lol. All kidding aside, I feel like the GR Corolla is the best car Toyota currently makes. It's also the only one in the GR lineup that's 100% Toyota unlike the 86 and Supra.

I really appreciate the in-cabin audio that you provided here. I'm one of those people who is excited to be driving a turbo car and am still in love with the car sneezing at me lol. Thank you for sharing your insights on the GR Corolla. I currently own a Core with the performance package, and one of the initial modifications I made was replacing the pitch mount, which has made a significant difference. The first improvement I implemented was switching to a 245/40R18 PS4 A/S tire, resulting in a considerable reduction in road noise and enhancement in ride quality. Additionally, I upgraded the linkage bushings to solid aluminum ones, further enhancing the shifting. Regarding the pitch mount replacement, given its propensity for tearing, the upgrade notably improves the transition between 1st and 2nd gears, as well as facilitates smoother takeoffs in 1st gear, in my opinion. Now that these enhancements have been made, I am contemplating additional modifications such as an intake, exhaust, and new wheels. Personally, I have decided against lowering the car due to the positioning of the air ducts just above the front fender liner, which restricts the possibility of rolling the fenders.
I would recomend Apex wheels to your friend. I have been heavily considering them. They appear to be the sole manufacturer offering an 18x9 wheel with my desired offset and a weight of less than 18 pounds. While traction is not a concern for me, I find the track width of the car somewhat lacking. Therefore, I believe an 18x9 wheel with a +23 offset would address this issue effectively. Furthermore, Apex is the only manufacturer I am aware of that offers a 50% discount on wheel replacement in the event of damage.

We REALLY didn’t want to winter drive ours here in Canada but the car market is still a little bit crazy to pick up a third vehicle. So now my wife drives our 5th Gen 4Runner in the winter, and the GRC stays home with me because I have a spinal injury and I rarely drive anywhere. We do have it oil sprayed with Krown and I put a set of Nokian Hakka R5’s on it (because they are absolutely amazing, I no longer use anything else for winter tires, regardless of the vehicle) and WOW, it’s amazing! I’ve had a Subaru in the past and four 4Runners plus a couple, other AWD vehicles but this GR Corolla just hooks up and drives like a beast in the snow! I also love having the manual transmission in the snow as well.

I've owned several Toyotas over the past 24 years (and 2 Subarus). I am also a former AW11 owner (19 years), and that is truly special to me.
I've owned my GR Corolla for a bit over 6 months. Without a doubt it is the fastest and most powerful car I've ever owned. Handling wise, with the exception of the occasional understeer, overall it is better than my former AW11, but not massively, although my AW11 did not understeer or oversteer. The brakes are absolutely wonderful - no doubt of that at all - and that's with the factory brake pads. It's a very comfortable car to drive despite the very responsive suspension setup/tuning, and the seats do not fatigue me at all (a true rarity). Interior space is without a doubt a massive upgrade over my former AW11, but that is to be expected when going from a 2 seater with a reasonably spacious trunk to a 4/5 seater hatchback.
The steering is very responsive, though I prefer a slightly heavier feel, but I cannot complain about the steering feel in any realistic way. The upgraded sound system plays music, but I will definitely be replacing all of the speakers and adding an amp (no sub) for better audio clarity. I really wish that the Core and Premium came with the Corolla XSE wing at the minimum, leaving the Circuit Edition wing for that sub-model.
In short, it is an incredible car and I'm beyond happy that I bought it. :) I've no doubt that I'll have this, likely, until my final driving day arrives.

Why would someone add so many unnecessary mods to a perfectly capable rally car? Savagegeese did the same, even changing the color of their GRC. Lowering a GRC makes very little sense to me, especially if I had to pay for it. Afraid to drive on a bumpy road because your tires will rub against the wheel well. If you had a Core and added the large rear wing, I might be able to understand that decision because the large rear wing looks cool. Even then, stone stock is the way to go. I won't even window tint my GRC, and I live in the Sunshine State.

From a design perspective, the corolla hatchback has a way softer, less steep rear slope than an eg civic, mazdaspeed3, or any vw golf. The larger circuit edition wing really cleans up the look and retains more of the traditional hot hatch look, and makes it appear less awkward like the ford focus zx3

The GR Yaris is a rally bred car. The GR Corolla is the heavier big brother we get here in the USA. I would not call it a rally car personally. Hot hatch is as far as I would go. Honestly I believe these cars are begging to be modded. The engine takes upgrades like they should have been there from the factory. Heck, Toyota modded one themselves...it's called the Morizo. You can keep your car stock if that's what suits you, but don't knock others for wanting more from their ride.

The rumor is that there will be a 3cyl version. I think from Japan’s best car magazine.

@swron_rules From what i've heard the mr2 will get the 3 cylinder along with hybrid system. Rumor came from a toyota employee who went overseas to a seminar.

That badge is just for CA, for that specific production year btw. In the US, we got 1,500 Circuits just in MY23. Toyota has decided to continue Circuit editions for MY24, so the badges they still come with are a bit silly at this point.

The badge in the US for 24 Circuit Editions just says "Made in Motomachi Factory", it does not have the production numbers for this year. Although I believe they are making ~1600 circuit editions for the US for 2024.

I have a regular 2022 Corolla SE manual that I have modified in an OEM plus fashion (17" Enkei RPF1s, Eibach sway bars, K&N CAI, Borla catback, and a few aesthetic/touchpoint mods). It is a blast. I can definitely see the potential of the GR. However, 60k is hard to justify. The car is worth 45k at most. I paid 25k for my car with about 5k in mods. 30k ish total. I realize the drivetrain, power, suspension/chassis tuning are superior in the GR but I just can't see paying DOUBLE before mods for fun daily driver, let alone a Corolla rally car. It just seems a bit steep to me. The GR is cool and all but the fun per dollar ratio on these is trash.
