Using the dots as a point of distinction between the symbiote and cloth suit is fickle and unreliable as what the dots actually correspond to is the artist who is drawing black suit Spider-Man, not which black suit he is wearing. In symbiote Spider-Man’s earliest appearances, the black dots weren’t present. It’s not a part of the core design but merely an artistic liberty that has gained fan attention

I guess, dude. But this clearly isn’t an animated series figure since there’s no cell shading blue highlights like we saw on Venom. They were going for classic Secret Wars/ Web of Spider-Man design but goofed the hands. Why would anyone need just the hands to be animated series? 🤔
@@ShartimusPrime that was my initial thoughts too, but I think that the shape being a rectangle instead of a trapezoid on the back of the hands makes it the animated series one… but the head is way more reminiscent of secret wars. Kind of a weird one LOL, I’m gonna try and customize my hands

I stopped collecting because I felt embarrassed about it and was convinced I was wasting my money on “plastic.” Its been years but I make good money now and im collecting again, and not only have I rediscovered my love for action figures but watching your videos as well. Blue shading, like they did with deluxe Venom, could've been cool. I also like the metallic purple they used for the Monster Venom BAF. If it was used for this figure, it would've looked like the black suit from Spider-Man: Edge of Time.

I ordered Symbiote Spider-man, Spider-man Armor MK 1, and Ben Reilly off ebay. I just need Shocker and Spider-man:TAS Hobgoblin. Imo Symbiote Spider-man looks great as is. I was doing a target hunt for this figure. At the last target I went to, I passed by a guy with the last figure and he wished me luck. The target stock had the last symbiote spiderman was confused with the spider armor suit. I was so close
The target hunt can be pretty brutal, I managed to get mine after hunting for a week (Thankfully managed to get to a target after they restocked before scalpers did☠️) I hope you keep looking and manage to find one soon!
Super excited for this figure, I never got the original retro one which hurt really bad but this guy is dope! I preordered him and hammerhead and they should be arriving within an hour or 2

This figure is great, the body mold works for a an 80s Spider-man quite well, it's so refreshing to see a different type of Spider-man body shape instead of the usual hyper skinny somehow still masculine shape. Too bad we don't have a Vermin figure to put with this one and the kraven figure from a while back. Poor Vermin he doesn't even have a marvel legends from what I know, just an old Toybiz figure from a side toy line. Vermin discrimination must come to an end, and they can finally give us the Vermin we deserve.

Yes, I totally agree with you! A little blue shading would’ve given this figure a depth that it honestly deserves would’ve put this guy over the top. I really hope Hasbro start doing more paint apps on their figures, especially the back of figures. I’ll never forget that Shikla and how sad it looked when the beautiful pattern on the front was not translated to the back. Felt so cheap. Great review, Shart! I actually found this guy on Ebay from a Chinese seller for like $30 with shipping. I was fully expecting it to be a KO (which, if it was decent quality, I was fine with), but he was a genuine copy!
@@oldirtydave22 I have both of them, the symbiote spiderman is definitely better better and does the body more justice, with the red and blue he just looks too buff for some reason but with the sleek black it makes the body look perfect with this color pattern, not like Superman in a spiderman costume lol.

I was looking in Target today and was thinking of getting Wong when suddenly a vintage Spider-Man card under some Batman figures caught my eye. It was this Symbiote Spider-man! Well, all I can say is that Wong stayed at Target. What’s funny is that this is my second Legends Spider-Man and I got my first yesterday. Got Ben Reilly yesterday!

It took me so long to just get the chance of getting this figure, and the fact that the old mold for the Symbiote Spider-Man had a massive issue with the arm breaking off, it made the wait for getting the new one all the more agonizing.
If you look at the 90s cartoon he doesn't have the dots. I love how this figure turned out, I hate the shadowing on Venon I'm glad the didn't do him like that.
God forbid they include any actual webbing accessories for however many extra cents it would cost in manufacturing. If you want an alternative until they release some damned webbing themselves, you can always try the plastic wire method. Or custom web vendors on eBay or Etsy.
Peter actually used to be kind of a jerk back in the 60’s and 70’s. He means a lot to us, but in the end he is a product for the owners of the rights. Sometimes a product of it’s time can’t age that well in all the ways, so yeah, Peter was a deuce to his friends and people in general back in the first 2 decades of his comics, it was in the 80’s that he actually coolled off and became the character we know and love (most of the Spider-Man characters evolved a lot aroud that time after being a lttle plain in the past, also the writting inproved in terms of dialogue and characterization), so by the time the Symbiote/black suit apeared he was already a nice guy like big time said.
I think for the sake of a wide release, all black is best. But for say a fan channel exclusive(or one very generous pulse exclusive) a shaded version would be nice. That way both groups are pleased. Also could be a nice way to have a "symbiote" and a normal suit spidey. Also I really REALLY REALLLLY want a normal Venom on the Movie Venom body(and cough the movie Venom to get the classic suit design).
I like the straight up black with no blue . I like the bigger eyes too. So if I get this figure, I have to hunt for the old black costume, so I can replace the head.

Hmmmmm I’d suggest doing very light dry brushing with electric blue paint, that will give you the perfect shading effect your looking for.
