When other rappers get boring because they can't think "outside" the box and write something so different and unique you can always trust Aesop Rock. The whole flower/plant theme of this track is beautiful.
@ezerk I know, and I've heard him saying this same spiel for years and I kinda hoped he was bluffing and was sitting on tons of rhymes (and I am still hopeful he will drop something soon and is doing this flute thing to generate buzz) but I think he might be telling the truth.. then we have Aes who sits with his dark emotions and makes something super creative out of his darker/ depressive experiences, so much that he seems to have powered his way out it on ITS... with Andre I always got the sense it was depression related writers block paired impossible standards instead of just having fun.. in a way maybe this is Aes' secret sauce for being able to do some incredible solo project every couple years, but then again I think he compares himself to himself only so even if he became super commercialy successful, I don't think it would change his creative process 💚 but yes someone please get him to listen to Aes and the people on Mellow 🕊
You know why a lot of people said hip hop is dead? Because they are still stick to old school mainstream rappers in 80s and 90s while their lyrical and rapping skills abilities if compared to Aesop these days, of course they all nothing even 50% to Aesop, so that they are really worry to dare get off outside the box and try something new
No herds stampeding to Aes and his warehouse of wisdom gleaning rhymes. Good or bad thing is a subjective judgment that is not in my job description at this pay grade. Those who do make those judgments clearly make the big bucks to shoulder such massive responsibilities, and grateful am I for their service. I myself struggle to even stay abreast of person to person recommendations, such as that person who highly recommended I check out Aesop Rock, let's see, I think that was circa 2005-2006. Man I missed a grip of his creations in my professional procrastination dilly-dallying, lolly-gagging not to mention union sanctioned time-clock management...the flip side is now I've got enough material to go back through, should be able to retire with full pension by the time I finish. Woo-woo, no mumble rappers on my watch, some young eager whipper snapper can deal with that mess. Life is good, thanks to Aes.
I spent my two days off in Hopkins.. got flowers for the person I love. And then thought "I've been busy but does Aes have a new album?" Yes he did, and a song about flowers. My man.
@@thienypham2738 Sadly (or more likely not) Aesop will never be main stream. He is his own amazing blessed thing. J. Cole and Kendrick have reignited my love for the craft. Aesop is kind of in his own stratum/genre. Nobody compares that I have come across yet.
Haven't thought of Where the Red Fern Grows since 3rd grade (1988-ish?), and just hearing the phrase immediately made me choke up for a few. Aes is THE master of allusion, and never ever pulls punches. That one landed hard.
@@Track_id i really like Aesop a lot too. It was simply that in this particular track her vocals made it go the extra mile. Gives it almost kinda Portishead vibe

I'm doing reactions for every song on this album on my channel if anyone's interested, so far I've done a few so far I'm actually in between recording some right now, Just uploaded this one.

Lealani is giving me Bjork vibes on this track, probably my favorite. Love it!!
I legit thought it was Bjork the first time I heard it.
Bjork was my first thought. Digging her sound.
so glad for this track showing me lealani. new favorite artist. its like that tobacco colab all over again
i’m completely blown away every time aes drops i can’t believe the talent of this man
This one is probably my favorite. The way she sings "I'm beat up, chewed up, drained but I'll send you flowers" gives me fucking LIFE 💜🥰

How'd you get so bathed in light ;)

Reminds me of _Not Afraid_ by MC Lars and Watsky.
I can't get past this track without a replay so far. His flow, the beat and botanical theme is absolutely fantastic! ✌️
I've had it on loop since it dropped 🥰
This might be the craziest joint on the album. Wow
I am not used to one of my fave artists putting out one of my fave albums in their catalogue at the age of 47.... THANK YOU AESOP!!!!!
Lealani reminds me of the Sneaker Pimps, and I love every moment of this track.
woke up with this line in my head. great job on the album
Very cool track. The icing of the cake is Leilani. She's impressive. . She sounds like its Björk singing Portishead in a parallel universe
i think she makes really cool music too if Ya didn’t know :p

I like that line. It's a cool way to say "I try to be a good person" (from my perspective, that is)@@nastiestNate
ok i know its kinda early to be sure but i thik this might be his best album
I’m thinking the same.. atleast best in a long while. Can’t beat the lovely aes classics.

Aes is amazing as always but I love the sound from Lealani too. Good work my dude

The whole album dropped 😂
How do you tell a whole billion stories I mean. bro do you know how good this is? It's a truck to the face, again. Still. Aesop Rock Wins.
I'll listen to this again when I've got a website up with the meanings of different flowers.
My guy Aesop's on some Father Nature shit and I love it.❤
Dude this goes hard as fuck
Aes has come a long way from a mushroom growing in his car and not being able to keep a cactus alive when he's present.
