I picked the game back up like 2 weeks ago and I’m already plat with stripe lol, i can tell there’s definitely a skill gap though because some people will basically predict my movement
You ever got jump canceling down? And I don't mean fast falling I mean jump cancelimg that cancels a jab and you insta input a side air where it hits the opponent It never worked for me , when I jump it males me travel far upwards even when I time the side air
I was just starting to succeed in gaslighting myself into believing the release gameplay is more deliberate, neutral focused and puts less strain on the netcode, but watching the beta speed in action again really makes me disappointed they went this direction. The fact they nerfed movement, but so many of the hitboxes are still cursed is what makes it hard to cope.
a couple things have changed mechanically: Trading actually exists now, you can hit each other at the same time properly, and not whatever that bugs death was in your example of jank. Dodge boosting (jumping mid dodge to go flying) now consumes half of your dodge meter in total (which now has 6 segments, 1 per dodge), and emptying it is like emptying your drive gague in SF6 in that it will ruin your defense until it completely refills, so try not to abuse dodging too much. Parrying is a thing now too, neutral dodging an attack with good timing (even in the air) will briefly freeze the enemy if it was a melee attack, usually giving you a free hit.
Tip #7: IADs (instant air dashes) If you still have your dash meter, you can diagonally dodge (2 times before you have to refill your dash meter) then buffer an air tilt/ attack to immediately perform a grounded air attack. This is essential for a lot of the characters combo trees so lab it out in training mode!
don’t know if it’s just me but in beta Batman had a passive to diagonal dodge from ground which I can no longer do. Noticed everyone can diagonal dodge in air tho
The early bird gets the worm. Faster upload = you get all the early viewers. And since the footage is still relevant to his point(s) he might as well use that advantage
When I first saw the bigger character models for the relaunch, I thought they looked kinda weird. But looking back on footage from the beta, I can't help but notice how small the characters were. Though when watching the beta footage, I think I'm starting to agree with people who say the speed from the beta was better.
tldr is you can frequently cancel by pressing dodge, jump, or attack before a move fully finishes its endlag (depending on what it is). game has some crazy # of frames of buffer so it doesn’t need to be too accurate, but not every move is gonna work the same
