Great video RPM and thanks for the shout out! That is an AMAZING difference with the new thermal paste! I will definitely be repasting all of my Icerivers and trying out the new Tswift software. Glad I ordered more MX6 thermal paste before you released this video... it'll probably be out of stock now! lol.... P.S. even after your repaste, I still have more Kaspa mining hashrate than you
Brother, literally going through exactly the same thing at the moment with my KS3M. Miner has only worked on two boards since i got it two weeks ago. I have also had an uphill battle with the supplier about it. I did not buy mine direct through IceRiver fortunately. Funny thing is I was going to post a video about it. I only took the hash board out yesterday. I literally have 3 tubes of thermal paste sitting in my amazon cart, the irony eh.
I definately recommend re-paste thermal paste. I have done on my KS3M , before it was about 65 -68 c , after re-paste arctic mx6 and now around 48 - 52 cm and I even my hasrate gone from average 5.2 to 6 th to now gone up to between 6.2 and 6.8 and I even see for a while 7.4 th.. So, yeah definately needs to be done.
You are a life saver. Ran the software on my KS3M, and many of my chips are over 100c (That's boiling !!!)😢 Turned it off till my thermal paste comes in tomorrow, then I'll fix it. You may have saved me $9K
I have had bad hashrates since I got the KS3M. 3-4% rejected, recently I had it jump to 7%. I'm thinking same issue. Ordered paste next day. Thanks for the info.
When torquing a plate like that you always want to start in the center an wrk your way out. Moving to the opposite screw next as to balance out the pressure and apply it evenly.
I have already had a board fail in my KS3M that I received on December 1st. I am hoping Iceriver will let me return just the bad board for repair. The other two boards are working fine.
Me too, had a board that failed on KS3M. Only would accept repair if I sent the whole miner back. Really disappointing that they allow people to pay so much money and skimp out on the small things that really matter. Think I might give Bitmain ago on my next ASIC purchase.
It'd be really interesting to see similar content with other miners like the S21/ S19K-PRO. However I don't know of any existing software that reads individual chip temps for those ASICS. I have two of my S19K Pros with the EPIC boards and I still don't get per chip temps...just clocks. But I feel thermal paste is where most of the ASIC manufactures miss the mark/ cut corners.
I have been struggling with this exact issue whille researching possible casuses for the recent increase of failures at my job. We are starting to see more issues stemming from long term overheating on the aging S19 and S19J models. Unforunetly, Die temperature doesn't exist for the Antminer S19 and newer series. The only temp readings available on these models is through a TP75A temp sensor, which is only local temperature. On the older S17 and S9 models, they did have different temp sensors that could read the die tempature by connecting to the asics through 2 pins on the hashboards, however this is no longer possible on any new Bitmain model.
Nice save! Makes you wonder why a company who knowingly manufactures components that get warm, cheats the process in insuring proper cooling. Maybe it was a fluke or is it by design? If by design, then it puts a black eye on any warranty.
>95 is not 'very bad', but it's not good. it is the point where IR will stop raising clocks. They don't throttle clocks until 110c. The max chip temp per board has been exposed in my OC FW from day 1 so people could see this. Its not surprising that your repaste job is better than factory - that's pretty standard across all compute devices w/ heat sinks. We see this for every CPU/GPU repaste job too. Though that's not to say there aren't issues w/ some of the chips not getting pasted or having heat sinks applied correctly. But also, you can see there's still a major difference between min and max chip temps even after your repaste. This shows there's also less than ideal airflow or heatsink pressure across all the chips. Might be interesting to try to rig something better up
Panda what are you doing! They designed that machine to last for the exact amount of time necessary to ROI, then burn up... you've shattered their ploy! You've jeopardized a sponsorship! Oh no!
This is the exact reason I can't get into asic mining, they want to charge you a arm and a leg or the price of a vehicle for something that they dont even care to make right. You shouldnt have to repaste anything for the price those things cost. This is a prime example of why average home miners don't upgrade to asic mining. Just sad and greedy, with all that money you cant even get something that works properly cause temps at 110 isnt working properly!
Check the voltage. I had the same issue (KS3M rebooting spontaneously) for a week, but only over daytime, and in the night it worked fine. Then I figured there must be some problem in the power supply network, not enough power/voltage. I checked voltage on different sockets and it ranged from 198 to 225 V (Europe). So I plugged it to another socket (with higher voltage) and it's been working just fine from then on.
I re-pasted my hashboards to no avail. It was working fine until I powered it off. Now nearly all of my chips are 3 digit temp range. Highest one being 122 degrees. Tried a factory reset. No help. Don't know where to turn now
Panda! Just got my KS3M done. 99 max down to 91 max. Huge difference was seen with rejected shares. I was getting 7.7% invalid results from the pool. So far I'm at 0% rejected after 30 minutes. Thank you so much for the info. You saved me $$$ Ill need to send you a thank you gift ;)
Great video!!!! This is a wide ranging issue with the KS3m. Hashrate will drop after sometime to 4TH then eventually 0. Restart, process repeats - sometimes after a few hours, sometimes after a few days. And the rejected shares uggghhh. Glad to see a monitoring tool and better guidance than "check the cables".
How is it holding up? The original paste is a thermal putty with good gap filling properties but poor performance in general. I'd expect thermal pastes to dry out and get a lot worse after months, can you share your current temps (Including the inlet air temps) Thanks
Thanks for showing how to do this! You’ve earned another subscriber My miner dropped a hashboard. Replaced the thermal paste and we’re back in business! It was a lot harder and messier because I’m running an immersion rig!
iceriver Won't you manufacture more machines? Or are they preparing new machines, with new powers? I ask because everything on your website is out of stock.
Bad Thermal dissapation is an industry wide issue. We see similar issues on S19 boards that have been in service for 2+ years at this point with zero service to the OEM thermal paste. It is a hidden issue to most people for these models though, because it is not possible to get any die temp readings on new Bitmain models, they are only limited to local hashboard temps through a TP75A model temp sensor
did Anybody expect anything less from factory..??? specially these yrs. i'm not surprised at all. i'm gonna look if there's one for s19jpro+ and such. Thx man
So the issue with these ks3m shutting off had to do with overheating all this time and not with the memcache being full? Or is this just another problem we can add to the list? I have three ks3m hosted. Only one is working. Just awful this level of incompetence.
I wonder if thermal pads might be a better option? It would allow for some flexing on the board and allow contact to be maintained to the heatsink. Would be interesting if someone made a copper heatsink or how about a heat pipe version and route the heatsink externally of the ASIC with fans....these could be alot quieter I bet.

@GGM its all because of you…
Now that you have more hashrate I just ordered 4x Bitmain KS3 😏
@RedPandaMining :-0 :( so then our battle rages on
Where to download the temperature monitor software?
You'd think for almost $10k they could afford to put some decent thermal paste on the damn thing!
It felt like taking makeup off the boards instead of thermal paste on a machine that has been running for only 3 weeks

Every company uses cheap paste...
all bitmain asics come with poor condutivity paste . This was confirmed by a company that repairs asics in my country.
link software temperature please

Thanks for callin them out on that RPM! That's why I stick with only antminers. They're by no means perfect but 110°C is craaazy!

I need this for my KS3 i suspect that's why my hash is all over the place
do you know the board layout on the ks3m or maybe the chip layout

Awesome video RPM, what would be considered optimal temps for the chips?
Where can we get the software to see the chip temps?
Discord tomorrow
Just did this.
Wish i didn't have to.
But i did.
It worked great.
Thanks.

Great job, there's nothing better than instant results for hard work. Did you use more than one tube of paste for the three boards @Redpandamining ??
Panda what are you doing! They designed that machine to last for the exact amount of time necessary to ROI, then burn up... you've shattered their ploy! You've jeopardized a sponsorship! Oh no!
This would be a perfect time to go with a Phase Change Material like Honeywell PTM7950 sheet. Could last for several years.

Its always in Celsius, nobody is using Fahrenheit.. only USA

How many thermal paste needed for ks3m ?

nice man! haha no gift necessary keep on mining!
@@RedPandaMiningmight be too late for that 😂.
Thanks so much for this! my hashrate has been going all wonky and this explains it, has been very hot.

Where do i find this software so i can check my asic temps
Can you recover from damaged chips??? Need yalls help. I have a ka box pro and last message i noticed was bad chip.

My miner dropped a hashboard.

why not use ptm 7950 ,is the best TIM close to liquid metal with 0 problems unlike liquid metal :) you should rellay try it in asics.
i have problem 1 chip is not working so i factory rest to old frimware now its working but voltage problem is not solving min 0.4 max 0.51
Wow thanks for the amazing information. I ordered 2 ks5l. Probably going to redo the paste before plug in
iceriver Won't you manufacture more machines? Or are they preparing new machines, with new powers? I ask because everything on your website is out of stock.
Was there a seal you had to break to get inside anywhere, like for a warranty?
I think this is just required maintenance.
Man sucks to hear you been having issues. This is what stops me from buying one of these ASICS spend so much money for it to just be a flop.
where can u get that programm? I think my miner have the same issue!
Which board in the device is one, which is two and which is 3?
Can you see this on the control board?
I have one defective?
You input temp is higher then my
Exit temps!!!
Also going to do the KSO Pro ??
Where to download the temperature monitor software?
Discord
I need this software
hi where is the link please
@@RedPandaMining
I just bought some paste with your link,. Good lookin' out! 👍
What thermal paste is good for bitmain s21
Where can I find the link to that tool? I have a ks3m and want to know if my miner will potentially be having the same issue
Now everyone consider this thing if you make OverClock to your Asics!
Imam nekoliko čipova na 96c kako da znam koji su? Na kojoj ploči

Ice river is the first crypto miner have had fail too lol

Thx man
Step one with these are to repaste them 100%
Ice River be more like Lava River with that thermal paste.

Great video. Thank you! Does anyone know if it is safe to plug more than one KS3M into a PDU?
Nice RPM always looking out.
Hello! Thanks for video. I tried to add your discord channel but I still don’t have access to it.
Hows does iceriver sell an asic for 9k and do a halfass thermal paste job, good way to go out of business
Well now I am concerned 😅 gotta check that I don’t wanna have my boards grilled and damaged
Remember when red panda was about GPU mining?
MX 6 Work in L7 also ?????
What are you setting your fans on. Do you increase them manually, or leave them on auto
I am thinking of doing my s19 i have 1 thats 8 c different from my other s19 same intake temp
Good
Let's see what Goldshell are bringing out?
Is not a bad thermal paste.... is a good toothpaste 😂
I have to order some paste. Great video and instructions.

I have exactly the same issue on 3 ks3m
Maybe evac system?
Bonjour très belle vidéo où trouver le logiciel pour voir les températures ??? Merci
Spread the word please, let them shut down all ks3 variant...(will give us more yield haha)
good job buddy
very informative video
crossing fingers, i guess i have been lucky with my KS3M, great video
I thought mine was OK till I ran the software, which showed about 20 chips with Temps over 100c
You need to wait more than 1 hour.
I wonder what the power difference was
I have one and stopped yesterday
This is a awesome tool!
WEN?
Love you're Hoodie! Keep going 🙌
They use cheap paste.
is that under warranty?
The 3090 of asics
We need the gui please!
