    Nick, what happened to your SL400 video? I saw it earlier and was going to come back and watch it, but it’s gone. I hope you didn’t take it down because of jealous snipes. I was going to say good for you getting that car, you deserve it because you work hard to produce this content.

    Im a fan of the Marex models but I would probably still go for this boat, more floorspace in the cockpit, all open in the back, door at the helm, those are huge plusses.
    But the electric sliding roof above the helm, thats a terrible idea unless you can also manually close it in case of malfunction.

    Great video Nick
    For a sports boat in the mid-thirty foot category, this is, as you allude to, about as good as it gets, as it is practical, functional and flexible, the only thing that would complete her, would be a generator, which would allow you to use pontoons and mooring buoys for a few days at a time.

    I noticed jeanneau uses both metric and imperial units in their model nomenclature? Their Leader line of boats are all metric (6.5, 7.5, 9, etc). But their NC line is in feet (33, and 37). Why do you think that is? Why not stick to all metric? Or all imperial?

    One thing that most viewers will overlook, is the cross over from all of the brands under the Benateau family - Jeanneau, Lagoon, Four Winns, Monte Carlo and Prestige, to name a few. Little details on this boat are inspired/influenced by features on sister brand vessels and vice versa.
    Whilst I do enjoy many of the motor vessels from this legendary stable, I'm a sailor at heart, but my fondness for the brand is the fact they have made boating accessible to the mass market, without compromise for many, many years. I recommend reading up on Annette Roux, who has helped shape this company over many decades. She's an amazing person, it has to be said.
    I know this is all off-topic, but this family has been building boats for 150 years and have an amazing pedigree and backstory.

    • @borysnijinski331
      @borysnijinski331 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We’ve owned Four Winns (V285 and V335) and now own Jeanneau NC37… the Jeanneau feels a lot more polished. Case in point, the generator in the V335 is loud (cannot imagine running it at night to run the AC) while the Fischer Panda generator in our NC is quiet enough that you can barely hear it.

Nice details with all the storage, low glare finishes, and even the curtain at the back to let you block off the interior from the outside to control bugs and/or temperature without having to close up the door and window making it easy to go from one area to the other.

    @TOM-C. 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Not sure why this idea came to me now, after watching so many of your yacht vlogs, but have they ever thought of putting a third, very low hp economy engine into these boats? This would allow for putting around on the cheap if you were just out in the bay. It would also allow the main engines less running hours which would be a big plus as well. Not sure if that's viable or not? 👍✌

    • @cookiemonster2299
      @cookiemonster2299 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I understand, navigating at displacement speeds and low revs with powerful engines is more economical than trying to use a lower hp engine to navigate slowly, all due to the weight of a boat and the amount of effort it takes to push through the water, even a dirty hull can hugely affect fuel efficiency.
      Think, competent swimmer trying to keep up with a professional swimmer. 👍

    • @TOM-C.
      @TOM-C. 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cookiemonster2299 I recall one boat that has a main engine, but not sure if it was one or two engines, and it also had a smaller engine for? If you're just moving about at 5 knots or less, the smaller engine at 100-200 hp would eat far less gas than two behemoths at 800 or more each, even at low speed. My logic is likely not sound as, like I said, I've never seen this done other than that one boat. Memory is coming back, I'm pretty sure the yacht I saw with one big engine, and one smaller was in fact designed in the same manner as modern boats, two engines for more speed, and one as a backup if the other fails. This older boat had one big engine, and one smaller as a backup. I think it was actually on Nick's channel, but I may be mistaken. 👍✌

    • @cookiemonster2299
      @cookiemonster2299 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TOM-C. He has so many vids it's hard to remember, I do remember MBY reviewing a boat with a diesel engine and also an electric pod drive for pottering along at 5 knots, I can't remember the manufacturer, possibly a cockwells boat around 30ft long or a boat that looked similar to the cockwells. 🤷😁👍edit: the Nordhavn explorer boats usually have a large main engine and a smaller back up engine, basically a get me home engine. 👍

    • @lionelgower6877
      @lionelgower6877 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Usually the helm is on the right hand side, because the waterways follow the same driving side as the Europeans and the Americans waterways.
      Although this does also change for different parts of the world, but it doesn't necessarily mean that if the country you drive on with a car is the same side of the waterways, either? It's quite confusing really.
      Basically, you have to understand the locations of where you heading and follow them.

    • @normaninnes3296

    • @borysnijinski331
      @borysnijinski331 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lionelgower6877 in North America (Canada and USA) cars and boats operate on rhs of waterway. The reason the helm is on starboard side is bec the captain is better position when on rhs to dock on that side…if you are going along a canal and keeping to rhs of canal, you would tie up on rhs so piloting from starboard side makes mooring easier (you can see the dock/shore and handle docking lines more easily).

    A small geni, some solar w/lithium batteries charge controller and inverter, a dozen or so Jerry Cans, a water maker and a few other bits and bobs and I'd happily live aboard that little vessel. I would also enjoy some island hopping if I could pick one up in Florida here in the states and head south to the Bahamas all the better...

    This is definitely a Tardis of a boat, huge inside and a great layout, nice finishes and as you say lots of practical thinking put into it. Easy to get at engines as well love it. Cheers Nick.

    Thanks Nick… a really well thought out, well appointed boat perfect for families or for inviting guests aboard especially with that clever heads layout. A very light & airy boat with pretty much everything you would ever need! 😃👋🏻

    Excellent boat. I would like to see the AFT seat reversible like the one across from the helm. This is a very nice feature, that as you know other manufacturers utilize.

    the sea strainer right at the top of the starboard engine for easy access was another nice touch in the design.

    Another contender for Smugglers Blues 111 getting too many contenders Nick you will need to shortlist.A small point why did they put the joystick where the throttles are to operate looking out of the door whilst docking

    Great little boats with loads of storage and room and I like the shower and toilet being separated
