Very nice station, from 1985 to 1989 there was a tram station here but the metro station was built over it and now the tram goes around it on the surface
The station isn't particularly nice but it's still clean. The white panels between the chairs must have been placed specifically for those who want to dirty things at all costs.
If the only colour in a metrostation is by the recycling-trash cans and its colours, then you know it's a depressing experience. At least the taggers have huge boards to spray their vandalism on. For the casual traveler there is no platform information whatsoever. And the overall style, well typical Soviet-Communist, uninviting.
What do you expect? It was built in 1989, before the December 21 revolution. Typically communist. They pretty much renovated the entrance. There were some old turnstiles until 2017 or 2018, when they were mostly replaced by these newer built gates. The M1 is the oldest metroline of Bucharest Metro. Architecturally, Muncii Square is not the best example of a good metro station built in the communist era. But soviet? Nah, it was built way later after the soviet army departed Socialist Republic of Romania, as it was called when Ceaușescu was the "president" of this communist state. Though it's one of the newer stations, built before the collapse of the communist regime, you're somehow right. But Titan metro station is a much bigger and way prettier station, still part of the M1.

You're right. And I say it as a Bucharest citizen.
Only horror films can be made here.
It is unpleasant, but there are some even worse stations on M1. You probably haven't seen Obor station yet. This is so fucking ugly
