This was completely free medical service, we are so fortunate in Australia with our health system..

Glad I found this explanation. I'm still so confused by my last ultrasound. Techs said I was having dizygotic twins yet they are sharing one placenta. They said dizygotic because they split into two separate bags & something pertaining to their membrane. I'm also having two girls. I just left so confused because they stated twins are sharing one placenta, which gave me the idea they could be identical. I have only one fallopian tube. Would also be amazed if I was still able to release two eggs from my remaining side. Just find that hard to believe. Guess I'll ask my Dr's opinion next follow up about what the tech said.

When i have a twin pregnancy with the same sex and different placentas what is the chorionicity and amnionicity, or what about when they are of different sexes and separate placentas. then when i have a shared placenta, with same sex, or a shared placenta with different sexes. because with ultrasound it is tricky coz you are dealing with the separating membrane which could either be thin (t-sign) or thick (lambda sign.... so some help please.

Yes it is possible, called superfecundation. It is not common among human, but It is common among other animals like cats and dogs which far more often have multiple pregnancy and big number of partners.
Thank you so so so much for this! I had to send this video to my husband just now because we have been so confused about my upcoming imaging appointment to determine the type of twins we have. Our little miracles were conceived through IVF. They put two embryos in. After looking at your video, it is apparent to me that my babies have to be dichorionic unless there is some way for them to fuse together. We put in 2 and we know for sure that the twins were not a result of one embryo splitting. Is it safe to say that the chances that our twins are dichorionic are high?

They are now 3 years old and they look very different. Different hair color, skin color, even height. Did research online and TH-cam and tells me they are identical but like I said they are so different. Only way to find out is a dna test once they are born. Personally haven’t done a dna testing the my twins, maybe in the future

Valerie Mendoza yea they have to be the same sex to be identical. I read that it is possible for two placentas to fuse together which makes it look like one placenta in the ultrasound. But yea probably gonna have to wait till your twins are born to know for sure. It sucks cause you gonna get a lot of questions like are they identical or fraternal, it gets annoying cause you don’t know for sure and gotta explain it lol.
