I love hearing Mabern’s Memphis accent. Music to my ears. And then there’s his playing.

Saw this broadcast as a teenager in late 80s, a great re-discovery

I've been looking for this everywhere , thanks! What a great band has George Coleman assembled here with killer arrangements to boot. I think the only living member of this fantastic outfit today beside the leader is Bobby Watson . RIP all, you will be fondly remembered.

George Coleman is alive and well, turned 88 two days ago and is playing two nights at Smalls Jazz Club next week

All great musicians....awesome video. Only Billy Higgins makes the drums sound like this, love it.

I met and played with all of these musicians in New York during this period. I met Sal in Sweden when we were both touring there. I did not play with him. But these were the nicest guys to be around or on the stand with.

Love this. There's no sound in jazz that hits me quite like the sound of massed saxophones,. Also, a shout out to the massively swinging Harold Mabern.

Clingt Houston was the most underrated bassist that ever lived

I love his handling of my foolish heart with Amad Jamal. One of the best ballads by George Coleman.

This concert took place in the old Odeon cinema, Denmark hill, Camberwell in south London.
It was taken over by a company called "Dickey Dirts", they only sold cheap denim clothes!

Hello...Do you know who owns the rights to this performance? I would like to use it in a documentary I'm working on. Thanks

All I know is that it was broadcast by Channel 4 at the time, the series was called Individual Voices. If you google Camden Jazz Festival 1981 Individual Voices you should find some information about it (the Library of Congress website has some details).
