You can see at the beginning of "Bless This Child" just how professionally Floor deals with a wardrobe malfunction (she had been doing her wardrobe change just before, during "Last Of The Wilds"), making it to the mic at high speed with milliseconds to spare after the zipper under her left arm jammed - it wasn't fixed for either of these songs, but you can see in "Ghost Love Score" it has been.
But would you know it from her performance? Not a chance!
It also shows just how constricting that costume is, making her breath control doubly impressive!
Emppu's guitar solos are always on point, serving the song, not his ego, a common trait in Nightwish from that period onwards - if there is any ego at all, it is a group ego. The solo in this is one of the rare chances we have to hear what he can really do when he cuts loose, but only because, in this instance, it fits the song. Contrast with his GLS solo, which is very restrained.
I love the huge glissando in "Romanticide", when Marco starts back down after 2 octaves, Floor just carries on up to a full 3 - then holds the top note! I know from experience just how hard it is to synchronise that kind of vocal slide between singers even without all the instrumentation. On a stage that loud, it seems almost insane to even try - but they manage it to perfection! I don't know what her top note is on that, but I'm guessing around E6.
40 years ago, I would have picked it by ear, but that skill has faded with age and lack of practice, and I don't have an instrument available to check it (well, not that I'm going to use). I have my good violin, but the new strings I have for it will not get tensioned until I find a new custodian for it, as once tensioned, they age fast, and at over 100 euros a set, I wouldn't use them just to check a note. I use those strings because of the age of the violin, which was built long before standard tuning was established at A=440, and only very low tension strings like the hand-made silver wound natural gut ones I use are safe to avoid over-stressing it. Plus it sounds gorgeous with those strings!
She's fantastic, but I hear he misses around half a beat here, still doesn't really affect the performance or anything as it's not even a second late
"Bless The Child" (the original with Tarja) was the first Nightwish song I ever heard, so many years ago, and I've been a fan ever since.
This song is from the album“ Century Child“ at 2002, its the first Album with Marko Hietala on Bass!

Notice Floor's costume is different - during 'Last of the Wilds' she changed but almost missed her cue for this song. She had issues with it until the 'interlude' in GLS when she fixed it. Tarja sang this song so well and Floor is certainly up to the task with this performance.
Yes, she comes sprinting out and lunges at and grabs the mic, just slightly late on the start of her first line...the zipper under her left armpit got stuck, you can see it partially unzipped at 6:01 of this vid, and as she walks off stage at the start of the interlude of GLS you can see her reaching for it....

I would reccomend to watch Ayreon. A Dutch composer, Arjen Lucassen, makes the music and invites a lot off fellow musicians and singers to perform it. A perfect a example off what he does is The day that the world breaks down. I promiss you know at least 2 singers! ( There are 11, only in this song!)😁😁😁

I miss your reaction this week, but i see it today, and it was very nice, like always! 🤘 I like your double reactions very much, one song is always a little bit to short, but 2 are perfekt! 😉 Last week i wrote you what conzerts you could do next because you ask, but you really should see her duett with Henk Poort, "The phantom of the opera" from the Beste Zangers show 2019! In this show she sing other beautiful songs, "Que se siente", "Winner" and "Shallow" are all very beautiful, specially "Shallow" is so good! But if you would react only one song between the Nightwish conzerts than "The Phantom of the opera", you really should do/see this, i'm sure you will love it! And check out the other songs by yourself if you will, i promise you will like every single one! Last week Floor did a cover from Lara Fabians "Adagio", it's so good and beautiful! She also did in the last 2-3 months other covers from Disneys Frozen the song "Let it go" and from Hurt the song "Alone", i like this 2 very much and i'm sure you also will!

Tickets to live shows are not very expensive and a great way to support them and hopefully enjoy them as well - also, hope Marko will come back to us stronger, happier, re-energized and re-invented, or at least that he'll find the path back to doing something he loves.
Btw Emppu is not only a super talented guitarist, he's also pretty good at drinking beer using one hand while playing at the same time with the other hand, LOL
For me in central Oklahoma, Nightwish tickets are VERY expensive. The price includes either a round-trip plane ticket to either coast, or three days' drive in each direction.
I envy anyone who lives in a country that's ever even HEARD of Nightwish.
@@thatoneguyagain2252 I get you, but in this case, where we were talking about the live stream shows (both EU and US live stream shows for 25 €) I don't think it is expensive. Of course, same experience as a real live show, but also without having to leave your home.
I think you nailed it what you said about Emppu's solos - perfectly explained. Many guitar solos indeed sound like a break from the song, but not in Nightwish's case. 😊 And yes, Marko will be missed. I have never seen them live and now I have a ticket to that virtual concert as well as Kuopiorock this july. I'm sad I missed my chance to see Marko with them, but luckily there are so much video material of their concerts. And who knows what/who they have in their sleeves now, maybe someone who will kick ass, too. 😊 And who knows, maybe Marko will miss playing with buddies and comes back someday.
About Marko leaving Nightwish: He's been in the business for about 35 years and is the metal grandpa here in Finland (even though he's not anciently old yet)! Maybe you could react to his early stuff with his band Tarot? Maybe even a double reaction:

The video is of the 80's TV quality of course, but the audio is OK. There's an introductory speech in Finnish over the music in the beginning, but it's short and not too bad .
They did a 25th year anniversary remake of the full album, Spell of Iron, in 2011, and a video of their new take on Wings of Darkness:

As a Tarja era song, Floor does a wonderful job on it. Different take to the original but still keeping the essence of the song.
BTW not sure you noticed but at the beginning Floor arrives late from the wardrobe change and misses half a beat, somehow it made this performance even more unique

Yes, Emppu plays for the song and the band, not for himself, no need to play show-off solos. Even more so nowadays. Brings to my mind a Finnish drummer, Ronnie Österberg, RIP, who also played what the song needed.
I have not bought a ticket to Nightwish live stream yet, but I'm going to. They want to make it the best live stream ever, it's going to cost Nightwish hundreds of tousands of euros/US$. They have to sell tens of thousands of tickets to get their own back. Was it on March 12th?
I can hear the sounds of the construction work but it's not bad, doesn't bother.
Just across the street, they started tearing down an office building a year ago. It took half a year, and then they started removing the bedrock with explosives and will continue till March. There is a big hole there now. So far so good. No problems. Not much disturbance for me. Has caused no
cracks to the walls of my apartment.
