Thank you so much for your help and hard work in the Texas heat. This is my family’s cemetery. I live north of Austin now and my cousin just shared this video with me today. Edmund Lee Bacon and Josephine Beckmann Bacon White were my great-great grandparents. Edith Dieter was my great grandmother and a US Marshall. You can find her in the archives at UTSA. My grandmother was Elaine Dieter Olmstead. My grandfather, Harold, was originally to be buried here but he was buried at Ft Sam. The last one I was easily able to get to the cemetery was in 2012, I haven’t been able to get to it since the apartments and fences were built. It’s really sad that it’s a historical cemetery and San Antonio doesn’t do anything to protect that. I may have to send a petition on behalf of the Olmstead family.
This is my family cemetery. All this land around it, the entire rim, la cantera, and six flags were our families ranch. My husband and I went out there a couple years ago so we could visit it and start cleaning it up. We realized once we got there, there isn’t any feasible way into the cemetery. We spoke with the apartment complex who let us in the gate and he was very kind. We are having to look into who to talk to about them putting a gate where it is more easily accessible since when they did construction they didn’t think of it obviously.
Thank you for your hard work. Insuring that they are still remembered. It's a truly sad condition this cemetery is in. You would think that with a recent burial as 2010 there would still be some loved ones to care for the graves. Once again Thank You!!!
Thank you for the support! You're totally right. I'm curious on if any of the family members are aware of the current state of the cemetery. Hopefully this will shed light to it, like the other forgotten cemeteries I have filmed.
@@thesaexplorer please contact me regarding this cemetery. I certainly appreciate your interest and work at our family cemetery. I left my contact info in the comments
Oh man! I always wondered what happened to that cemetery. My friends and I used to go four wheeling back in there many years ago. Late 70's. There used to be a red brick house maybe 50 feet away about where that newer wood fence is. Wow is it overgrown now. Appreciate your efforts to clean it up. They really need to preserve that cemetery. The old water tower is still standing behind a bank. Used to be an old wooden one there too, but they tore it down. Friggin developers don't care. Thanks for the memories.
Thank you so much for what you’ve done to clean up this cemetery… god bless you and yours ..I hope you receive all the blessings you truly deserve thank you again
Thank you for trying to clean up that cemetery. Edmund Lee Bacon and Josephine Beckmann Bacon White were my great-great grandparents. I went to that cemetery in the 1980's before everything built up out there. Their original limestone house was still there but was torn down once they started developing that area.
@@thesaexplorer most of those graves are Edmund Bacon, Jr.'s family. I have never met any of them and I'm not sure there are many left since some did not have children. Bennie Sejan was Violet Bacon's daughter by her first husband, so she isn't a blood relation. I can't find where Joseph Bonnin and Justin Keller are even related to the Bacons. Not sure why they are buried there. I live in Florida otherwise I would clean it up. I'll see if maybe I can get my cousins interested in cleaning it.

Back in the late 80s, I was trying to find the old Pecan Springs road (back in the 1800s, it went from the Fredericksburg Road into Camp Bullis, and a 1960map showed it still going to Bacon Road) when I stumbled across this farm an its cemetery. I'm happy to see that it's still there, but sad to see how overgrown it is. Thanks for taking care of it. ❤

Thank you for doing what you could to clean up the cemetery and documenting it. I wish the city or historical commission would do better! It is sad that it takes a ladder to get in there and eventually this will be so overgrown. Love that you have a passion for this history.
Thank you very much for your kind words! I feel like the city thinks they have other more "important matters" to deal with. If they only knew how many other abandoned cemeteries are out there..
I've recently moved into one of those apartments and noticed the cemetery on google maps and got Interested. Started doing some research and stumbled upon your video. As someone who has a family cemetery historical landmark, your efforts to try and clean, revive, and reserve this cemetery is truly admirable and appreciated. This video was taken about a year ago, I wonder if there has been any progress on it since?
Hey thanks for checking out my video! Well during this video I called the city code enforcement about it being overgrown and unaccessable. My guess is they looked into it but couldn't find the owners and did nothing about it. I've had people contact me though saying that their ancestors are buried here and they they've kept up with it in the past but they either no longer live in the area or are too old to maintain it. I've had many people as well contact me saying they'd be willing to help clean up the cemetery. I'd like to set that up someday, but with my work schedule and personal life lately, it's been pretty tough to find the time..
My mother and Father are Elaine Anna Dieter Olmstead & Harold Frederick Olmstead, my grandmother was Edith Josephine Bacon Dieter I can send some photos! For many years we have gone to the cemetery and tried to clean it up.
Thankyou so much for taking the time to clean up the cemetery. Hopefully something can be done so the cemetery can be better maintained. I’ve had several paranormal experiences since they’re my neighbors. One was a woman dressed in a dress from the civil war time period
I've done alot of Surveying around that Cemetery in the early 2000's and always wondered about the history. Id be Happy to help clean it up knowing that family members are still active. Yet don't have access to the Cemetery.
I’m surprised the city would of hidden all this and built right over it with no remorse…I hope they got spooked not to touch around there…🙏let their souls be in peace
Thank you for the update i used visit the area when it was woods when i was a kid i always knew about the grave but never knew what happened after the apartment went up.
Good on you for taking some time to clear that cemetery, even it was only a little bit - I can’t imagine pushing a manual mower back and forth for an hour under the summer sun! Also glad to see you back to making videos, and congrats on hitting 1k subscribers! (Hey, if you ever want help editing your videos, hit me up. I’m no rock star but it’s been putting food on my table for a minute.)
I used to work down the street from that cemetery and remember accidentally going down the road from Vance Jackson to the apartment complex and came across the cemetery. We didn’t get down but when I tried going back a second time they had put the fence up and made the cemetery disappear so to speak. I wish any family members would speak up to the city so a gate can be installed. Definitely not okay that the complexes put up that fence.
Where is this at I would love to help clean it up and investigate it I live in Helotes texas. Just sad that they would just build around it and forget it
You are absolutely right. I thought I was the only one who remembered that. The old limestone ranch house is used to store records at the dealership. There was a very small cemetery at the very corner of the dealership property along Utex blvd, right before the creek. I used to work at that dealership. I asked the general manager about what happened to that cemetery when they built that place. He had the deer in the headlights look. Supposedly, he found out that the three Graves were moved to the nearby Oxford cemetery on Huebner and Fredericksburg Road. I grew up in the area.
So if relatives want to visit they have to take all that gear? That's so sad. Developers don't care it's all about money to them. Thanks for the video.

2010? That's wild, your right why would they bury somebody there
I know...I guess they thought that nothing would happen to the cemetery. Meanwhile it sits abandoned and hard to access.
If the land was already owned, it would save on the thousands of dollars it costs to bury at a regular cemetery.
