The Almond Joy candy bar on the gravesite is a nod to the early days when, before the band was known as "The Allman Brothers," Allman had dubbed the band "Allman Joy."

Between that, and listening to the mucous snorting sound of the camera person from time to time, this video was somewhat unpleasant to view. Almost like an outtake from the movie "Deliverance". They don't even know the people in the photo are the band. Well, I guess to each his own.
My husband and I went to Macon in July this year (around July 27) and were at Gregg's burial site. There was a couple and another woman with long blonde hair standing at Duane and Berry's gravesite talking. My husband asked them where the "Little Martha" statue was located and the blonde haired woman said she didn't know and didn't want to know because it "creeped her out". She then walked up to Gregg's grave and introduced herself as Shannon Allman (Gregg's widow). We were kinda blown away and felt really awkward, didn't know what to say, because we had been laughing and cutting up a little around his grave right in front of her (nothing to do with him, just us being silly). She then knelt down at his grave and cried a little then got up and walked back up the hill. So sad
It's a statue of a girl who passed away at 12 yrs old. Rumored to be what the song was about. The song may have been written for an old girlfriend according to Gregg.
Visited site in Marc of 2022, site is much more complete and fenced in, including Butchie. Videos is good for archival value, but not from longtime ABB fans. Maybe they are just getting on the road that goes on forever. Love is everywhere.
My father only required a piece of brass, etched with DOD, DOB and his name and 4 words....Loving Husband and father. It took almost a year...until then a piece of plastic with his name punched into it...nothing more. Tiny placard...4k. Not to mention money, but, after all is said and done, a lot of families change what they were initially going to write...like each grandchild's name, etc...because of the cost. Funeral and get together afterward...40,000 dollars. Obit. in LA Times 120 bucks per word or 40/character....coffin, suit, flowers, priest, rabbi or whomever, the cost never ends...transporting the body is costly too...embalming...so 40K all that other stuff. I know Gregg had money, but still... It takes a while. They are putting a quote on it...

Usually, and most everyone, doesn't get the headstone, plack or whatever memorial piece is being used (my dad has a brass 12 inches by 8 inches) thing, screwed onto, what looks like a giant locker at the airport. Anyhow, it's not in the ground. HIS took over 6 months to put up. Even though it had very few words...Name, dob. dod and Beloved husband and father. Most people don't order them in advance...they buy the stone...but what words will be put there are usually chosen after all is said and done. Each word is VERY expensive. In fact an obit. in the newspaper is about 60 dollars a word (LA TIMES) and, even commas are considered words. I guess it may be by the character.

Un case you didn't know. They will make a huge encclosure to protect the whole band. Even Butch will be there and any other member can be there.

Gregg was not married at the time of his death, married 6 times & had 5 children, 3 daughters & 2 sons Elijah Blue & Michael Allman.
I am pretty sure Gregg and Shannon got married a few months before he passed.
