I cry every time I watch it. I cry with sadness that he left us...and of happiness for having lived at the same time as Gregg Allman and being able to be a fan of his music! Thanks for everything, Brother Gregg!
Sometimes you look around and realize life has caught up with you. I see it in Greg’s face. Always had a soft spot for him. Miss him and the band very much.
I miss his great laugh. What a beautiful person Gregg was. Such a gentleman whose music hits my heart. He was such a sweetheart and so humble. Breaks my heart he’s gone.
71 for me too. A friend in summer camp turned me onto the band. Idlewild South that summer. I'd been playing bass for a year and my focus turned to Berry Oakley and learning the songs. I have an Allman Brothers tribute band, Idlewild West, here in the Bay Area.
I had just returned from VIETNAM when a friend turned me on 2 “Whipping Post”. Greggs vocals & Duane’s Slide I ain’t been right since!!! 71 years of age listen to the ABB most everyday!!!
Hey Randy, when my father was sick and diagnosed with “Cancer” in 2016 I stumbled across “The Allman Brothers “ on the radio ….he died of Cancer in 2017. I have been listening to the Allman Brothers Band almost everyday! Gregg’s solo stuff especially “Laid Back” just connected with me. I have watched the “Dan Rather” interview with Gregg at least 50 times….when he got older and spoke about all his stories it just did something to My soul that I can relate and just block and lock this aweful smelling world out, and just find comfort in his music! God Bless Gregg! I have watched “Dickey Betts” interview with Dan quite a bit as well! Dickey is my 2nd most favorite member. My Uncles served in Vietnam and just like you…I am so grateful and proud of y’all! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
God was so kind to bless us with this man, his brother and this genre of Music! Thank You Father! RIP Duane, Barry, Butch, Greg, & Dickey! Live for Christ Jaimoe!

Re Ality Ditto ....I'm 60 yrs Old & Have Listened To The Allman Brothers Since The Filmore East Live Album. This Interview With Dan Rather & Song He Sings In His Home, Show The Strength, Character, Heart & Soul Of A Determined Man To Press On Through Tragedy & Addiction. I Have The Deepest Respect For Greg & Am Thankful We Had Him To Appreciate ALL These Years. RIP....Until You Live Again....
New Greg for almost 40 years, only seen a few shows, which we're awesome, never looked at him as a big star because he never acted like one, always down to earth and would do anything for a friend and definitely his mom. Rip Greg and Geraldine (mama A)
My goodness...something for todays "artists" to hear. Such emotion...for decades, a spiritual force in music..both his singing and playing... God Bless you Gregg Allman...and RIP. What a huge loss for the world of music.
I don't know why, but "the older version of Gregg" makes me sad in a good way. His music steered/inspired me through the angst of a 70's teen, and still gets me through the rough patches of middle age. Thanks, Gregg.
Walter Smith so true .When my life comes n on me and I feel like I want to give up,I always turn to THe Allman bros.and It's Not My Cross To Bear...takes away all the bad stuff immediately.
The Allman Brothers’ music takes the soul to days gone by. Bittersweet, joyful. It always takes me back to the 70’s and times of naivety and innocence.
THIS IS VERY SPECIAL HERE, GREGG WAS ONE OF THE KINDEST PEOPLE TO EVER WALK THE PLANET, GREGG WAS RIPPED OFF OF KNOWING HIS DAD, HE WAS MURDERED WHEN HE WAS YOUNG, HE WAS RIPPED OFF WHEN HIS BROTHER DUANE DIED AT 24 YEARS OLD, WHEN THE BAND WAS GETTING GOING, HOW MUCH CAN A PERSON TAKE IN LIFE AND STILL STAY A HUMBLE MAN , I DON'T KNOW, AT THE TIME OF THIS VIDEO, HE KNEW HIS DAYS WERE NUMBERED, HE KNEW HE WAS DYING, BUT STILL STAYED A HUMBLE MAN, WHAT GUTS HE HAD, WATCHING THIS, JUST RIPS MY HEART OUT, R.I.P. BROTHER, COUSIN FIGEL
Dan stick to this kind of stuff, thank you for this interview. Tremendous. Gregg playing piano and singing is truly unbelievable. Thanks for the years of enjoyment Gregg.
What a great interview. I'm so choked up. The greatest moment of my long musical career was sneaking backstage and singing with him . Rest with the angels, Gregory.
Gregg Allman, an American treasure, Allman Brothers Band one of the finest American bands of all time. Thank you Gregg for the soundtrack of my life. RIP ABB🕊🕊
Can't help but get choked up a little watching this. Mr. Allman you have left a hole in American music that will not be easily if ever filled. That soulful voice is the kind that many of us will only experience once in our lifetime. Thank you, thank you, so very much for sharing it with us as long as you did. You will always be loved and remembered. May The Lord welcome you home into His keeping. Man, this one really hurts.:(
Listening to this for first time today. Brought me to tears...had no idea id later be crying for yet another allman brother member....rest in peace dickey betts
So soulful, like being in church ❤such tragic loss to the music community and Duane and all that belonged to the Alman Brothers, southern rock- blues will never be the same😢😢
Thanks Gregg for your music in my time.....like you, I have aged and seen life from all sides now. Your spirit and conviction of giving the most heart felt music was so much appreciated by millions
Gregory "his close friends called him Gregory Allman at his request, Gregg was for a professional name, he was a private person and this version of "oncoming traffic" is as raw as it gets. Just Gregory Singing the blues. No one better
God's got Gregg now, no more sorrow or searching for that elusive love, he's home with his Creator, his family spirits all around him❤️ loved his music all my life 🎶
I'm cryin' like a baby right now, listening to this wonderful, talented man. He's very ill and has cancelled all 2017 tour dates. Y'all pray for him and his family 'cause God is the ONLY comfort & strength left for all concerned. It's gonna be a sad day indeed when God gathers His jewel home. I know I for one will mourn... hell, I ALREADY AM!
Sure miss this man. I learned to play guitar after listening to Sweet Melissa 24 times around and around on a turntable. 1972. The ABB was my inspiration all these years. 50 of them now. I even named my daughter Melissa in 1979. Hooe he's having fun in that big jam session up there.💓
Been his biggest fan forever but this left me stunned. What a classy song and it's soul filled master playing and singing it. It's been over 5 minutes since the video ended and my goosebumps haven't gone away yet. Don't think that ever happened before.
My God, has there really been any other singer who can bare his soul and pour it out with so much unbelievable passion and conviction than Brother Gregory Allman! To say he was graced with talent, to help him keep his demons at bay, is a grand understatement. The strength and power of this man's lyrical emotion travels beyond magnificent. The older Gregg is so mellow, and yes it makes one feel a certain amount of saddnest when you think about the young Gregg. I don't know but I get the feeling he was always very sweet and kind, but just dealing with a lot of inner demons. Especially after his brother died. I just love him so much. It brings tears to my eyes knowing how badly he just wanted to be loved. I will miss the man and his music.
I think he realized the loss and hurt ,and used that motivation channeled through his music taking his bro for the ride with him. When idle, and not playing the demon came knocking to numb the pain glad he got to experience the last of his life clear minded ,and at peace .Rip brothers all beginning a new chapter together.
I truly miss Gregg, that song is beautiful, and beautifully sung. I first heard “oncoming traffic” in my mid teens, and it’s just as meaningful now as it was then, thanks for all the lovely memories brother, and thank goodness for You Tube.
Grew up with both of these people as icons. It’s such a beautiful song. What I love about this performance is seeing children and dogs playing all around them. What he’s pining for in song is there. He made it.
This performance by Gregg brought tears to my eyes! So sad that his awesome voice has been forever silenced! RIP, Brother Gregg! You're dearly missed! :(

He knew he was dying... but kept a good attitude at the end...
The best interview ever (Kudo's to Dan's sensitivity) of this sweet soul..yes he had issues with deep grief that leads to self destruction but he's s talented and real. His singing of the blues goes straight to my heart.
I cry every time I watch it. I cry with sadness that he left us...and of happiness for having lived at the same time as Gregg Allman and being able to be a fan of his music! Thanks for everything, Brother Gregg!
I cry too. Damm

There will never be another live album like Live at the Fillmore East. Simply untouchable by todays generation.
Totally true
Hell none of the younger groups even play an instrument let alone be able to do a live album.
Used to see these guys at The Flame in Statesboro. Seems like a lifetime ago. They were always great!
Soooo much soul. Just sits down and starts that piano and lets that soul loose. Pure soul.
