I just purchased a Thors Lightning Pump for my 35" BFG's, and I found it to be an excellent choice. With the four-way air up system I can go from 35psi to 15psi in 3:20, and then back to 35psi in 3:30 on all four tires! Before, I was spending 30-40min airing up my tires one by one with a Harbor Freight single piston pump, so now I can be on the trail much faster.
Ive used the larger Smittybilt portable compressor for about 8 years. On a 35” Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ, 35” BFG AT, 35” Cooper STT Pro, 35” Goodyear MTR, and a few others, it only takes me a few minutes per tire to air up to 30+/-2 PSI from about 18. That tiny compressor would absolutely suck on the trails. And an overheat from spending so long trying to inflate tires may have caused a surge on the fuse. This still wouldn’t have been an apples to apples comparison if the Smittybilt setup worked. But I do like the digital display and auto cutoff on the TL. Might be adding this to my kit.
I had the same problem on my Harbor Freight compressor. It's got too small of wire gauge for extended inflation times. I re-wired mine with 10ga. wires and it now runs great with cold wire after 15 minutes.
years ago the Smittybilt was a pretty decent option. i bought mine with an extended 2 year warranty and it was well worth the money since it got replaced multiple times. smittybilt didn't give much peace of mind knowing it could give out at any time!
Yeah I agree there. I think it serves a purpose but if you're looking for a more reliable option especially if you're going off grid there are many better options. Thanks for watching!
Hey brother I am interested in your content, but your audio made it difficult to watch. Curtis Judd Audio has some great audio videos if you're interested. It seems like it's just the wireless mic system.
Your content is worth the upgrade. It is well done. It could be a cable or a setting in your camera. I'm really not trying to be critical, I wish you the best!@@DixieOverland
Poorly made fuse holder. Bad connection to fuse pins and as soon as there is resistance in that connection it heats up. Heating up causes more resistance. Classic thermal runaway result.
@@DixieOverland I just purchased one also, waiting for it to arrive. It's videos like yours that convinced me to order this brand. Thanks again for taking the time to produce and edit.

It really is a game changer! Less time on hot trails filling up tires and more time wheeling them!
Same I use to have the small harbor freight pump. Ordered my Thors recently and can’t wait to use it!
@@rkymtn_jt you'll be super impressed!
I got 2 month ago and love it. Beach camping w trailer is great

Yeah it would have been an unfair fight but I wanted to do it to show what is available versus what I was using in the past. Thank you for watching!

It's almost like they're built in the same factory lol
I think I might have to get one of those....a Thor! 10.6 cfm is quite amazing.
It really is! I'm very impressed with how well built it is as well. Thank you for watching!

I like those style compressors, good review.
Thank you sir! This thing is a beast!
Losses connection causes higher amps.
Higher Amps means more heat
@@runawayacres4622 that heat went runaway
The outtakes were great 😂
Hahaha thanks! 😆
How accurate is the gauge on the pump? That needs to be tested.
When I did my test it was accurate to within 0.5 psi but the separate tire gauge I used after.
I just got the Thor's lightning and coming from the Smitty built and on a night run it was 110 temp and I keep blowing fuses
The Smittybilt or the Thor's?
@@DixieOverland the Smitty blow multiple fuse at night I haven't used the other but them what the reviews are I'm going to be happy
@darrenboone681 ah ok. You'll be really happy with it I think.

Good feedback! Yeah I've been struggling with these wireless ones trying to find a good balance. I'll check out your recommendation! Thanks again!

Thank you!

To many amps for to small of wire= heat, and lots of it.
Yeah poor little.guy was way overworked.

Makes sense to me!
Content was good but the over powering background music was just that. Overpowering. Takes away from your content.
That's fair...I'll see about maybe toning down the music some. Thanks for watching!
