My dad had a doctorate in music from the 40’s and 50’s having his own jazz band and wrote many tunes & songs. He loved to sing. Dad could play any instrument and taught music . He really disliked my era of music from the 60’s and 70’s and 80’s rock n roll. Except for the Beatles. They changed my dad’s musical career and his perception of talent. It was no longer just “noise” to him. The Beatles, unknowingly, were pivotal in bringing forth a new form of musical genius. The world has never been the same since. John, George, Paul and Ringo, thank you.
That seems to be a trend I've noticed among people from the pre-Rock and Roll era: they usually don't think too highly of Rock and Roll or anything that came after, but if anything, they really might like The Beatles!
Songs like Yesterday and In My Life are timeless and have a universal appeal that transcends generations. If we all don't destroy each other, young and old alike will still be enjoying The Beatles two hundred years from now.
They did the three-part harmonies live in one take. Then they did two more takes exactly the same way and overdubbed it, so the three of them (John, Paul and George) appear as nine voices on this track.
Has anyone mentioned that this album is one of those that is so much better if you listen to it all the way through because all the songs are connected? You should do the rest of it that way if you can, it is amazing, an actual legit masterpiece!
Dreamy, psychedelic, beautiful. So happy you get it Princess! You are in for a magical journey as you continue to explore one of the most incredible important music ever! The Beatles.
@@fredneecher1746 I didn't remember that. Gotta dig out my DVD now. Isn't it on Beatles Anthology, as well? If so, it would be Vol. 3. Gotta dig that out too.
The Beatles explored every imaginable genre and created some new ones to boot. 69/70 is the psychedelic era and they wrote some trippy songs for trippy times. Dreamy, sweet, meditative, a little sad. Lovely song.
You just made me Cry and I've heard this song 1,000s of times! Yes, they were beyond amazing, do Something from the same album, it is another all time banger! Enjoy. 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶🔥
I would love to hear someone play this on guitar and sing to it. The band Cape Weather covered the Zombies song "The Way I Feel Inside," a seemingly only vocal tune, and it was great.
I learned how to sing harmonies by singing along with the Beatles. I was born in 1956, and I remember when they appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show (which EVERYBODY in the States watched every Sunday evening) in Feb. 1964. That was the beginning of Beatlemania here in the U.S. of A. Their vocals are flawless.
There’s no separating or qualitatively judging the “Abbey Road” songs versus each other - they’re all essential brushstrokes in the masterpiece. There’s no dreamy “Because” without the music hall goofiness of “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer” contrasting with it, or the entire side 2 medley that “Because” sets up. The Beatles built an entire journey and all its stations for us to navigate, and balanced each hill and overlook for our ultimate joy. It is the very peak of what music can do.
I will recommend again that you listen to the next set of songs, beginning with "You Never Give Me Your Money" through "She Came in through the Bathroom Window" all in a row, without stopping at the end of each song- you can pause, but just let the songs continue into the next one. It's the way it was designed to be played.
I'm proud of you for taking this journey. I think you should know that the songs that follow 'Because' on 'Abbey Road' are all part of a MEDLEY and you should listen to them as ONE PIECE. 😃
Princess thanks for bringing back back Beatles songs that I haven't listened to for a long time like Because. Quite a bit of time has passed and now I have a new appreciation of it.
Love this song, but on the other hand I love so much of their music it is impossible for me to pick one Beatles song as my favourite. Thank you for the reaction - I look forward to the rest of your Beatles reactions. Which song next? Any of them!! But I will put in a vote for The Abbey Road medley!!
It's a wonderful song, just wonderful and your reaction is very emotional., Please continue with the Beatles,, maybe Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Pepper, White Album You have a world to discover
That’s one hell of a truck right there. They did a 4 part harmony and overdubbed multiple vocal tracks for each harmony to create a choir effect. Definitely former next Beatle record start from the beginning with their first album Pleas Please Me and you’ll be amazed at how much they progressed and changed everything in music as well as their own sound in just a 7 yrs.
The Beatles are just the most popular pop/rock band in history. One would have to be living in a cave to have never heard them as they were /are popular world wide.
You really should have continued to listen through to the next track; it's a clean segue into You Never Give Me Your Money! My Beatles journey started when I was 8 years old in 1963 and my older sisters brought their music into the house. That summer I was auditioned for choir in my Catholic grade school and had the blessing of good vocal training at a young age. I'm 69 and have been a musician and vocalist ever since and have never been in a band that didn't play Beatles music.
My favorite track is "Here, There and Everywhere," a bewitching, heart-wrenching love song written by Paul. Absolutely gorgeous. It's off the 1967 "Revolver" album. You really must give it a listen! 😁

Fun and moving for me to see her react: the fact that so many years has passed made it possible for people to hear this music newly, whereas 20-30 years earlier everyone would have been exposed to all the Beatles repertoire on the radio, in stores, in elevators...many people maybe heard it as background music, instead of really listening intently to it as we did when it first came out, and as she is doing today. Her reaction brings back mine emotionally, when I heard it all those years ago, so it re-awakens that fresh new spirit in me too! Really cool.

Don't hesitate to listen to it again...and again and again and again. I can't tell you how many times I've heard this track, in fact the entire album, but it's probably been more than a hundred times over the last 50+ years since it was released.
Don't even try to have *one* favourite Beatles song. It's not possible. I think the more Beatles songs you know, the more favourites you have; a favourite for when you're sad, when you're happy, when life is crazy.... basically, for the different moods and circumstances of life. If you can even narrow your favourite Beatles songs down to "favourite era" or "favourite year" you're doing well! Glad you're enjoying this fab journey and letting it change your life 🎶💕
You kinda gotta listen to the whole album in one sitting. This is often true of the good ol days cuz they were thinking in terms of album sides being played just that way. The Beatles are great
When this was first released people were not used to hearing synthesizers. Switched-on Bach had just been released in October, 1968. The Beatles were always the first to use new tech.
Before I get into Because, just want to say what a doll you are. Whoever your significant other is, they are very very lucky. Because is such a gorgeous composition. The masses don’t know it, but Beatles fans love it. How could they not? The harmonies are otherworldly. Favorite? Most Beatles fans would say it’s too hard to say. They have so many great songs in their canon you just can’t pick a fave. But I’d love to see you react to A Day In the Life from the Pepper’s album. I think you’ll like it.
You do know the ‘good stuff’ when you hear it. Yes, you will want to listen to this one again…and again. Between the harmonies and the lyrics it just takes you someplace. Somewhere you want to be. (Nobody hates this track, trust me.😅)
Most Beatles songs are listed under Lennon/McCartney, or Harrison, and some Starr, but this song and FLYING are the only two songs credited to all 4 Beatles.
Hate to correct you, but this is a John Lennon song credited to Lennon & McCartney, you are correct about FLYING though. Great song too. I was just thinking that you never see anyone react to that one. Silly fools
No! Incorrect. I was pretty sure this was actually a John song, which as per their agreement was credited to Lennon/McCartney. Just checked my copy of Abbey Road (bought on the day of release) and I'm right. There are only five songs credited to all four Beatles. They are: Flying, Dig It, Christmas Time is Here Again, and the Beatles versions of, Free as a Bird and Now and Then (but not Real Love as they didn't add anything to that one).
The Beatles do their "supervoice" on this one-John, Paul, and George with a three part harmony overdubbed three times so that there are a total of 9 voices on this track-the effect is incredible and about as beautiful vocals as you're ever going to hear!
Wonder whether The Beatles would have done this without the Beach Boys doing Pet Sounds. Love the way they took the best of each other and put their own spin on it.
Listen to not just this song but all of the remaining songs are connected together like a mini operetta and connect and tell different stories. Play it again but the entire theme is maybe 15 minutes long or more.
John Lennon's always unexpected and interesting chord changes, his intuitive yet idiosyncratic time variations are just part of what makes the Beatles so special and significant. Best not to try to choose a best track. Much depends on one's mood. In the realms of the genre of popular music The Beatles music is the equivalent of Morzart, Beethoven, Bach, Handel, Schubert etc wrapped up in one package
They changed music in so many things, the 1st to use orchestration in rock music, the 1st to hold stadium concert, and so much more, music today would not be if not for them.
Hello, young person. "Because" is a beautiful song. I grew up with the Beatles. I can't possibly refer to only one favorite. Just explore and discover.
It`s beautiful. I think the whole Abbey road album is a farewell letter to their listeners. It`s the final effort as a group. The Let it be album came after this but that was recorded before Abbey road.
Side two of Abbey Road has to be listened to from beginning to end as one piece (it’s a medley after Here Comes the Sun and Because…wait a couple of seconds at the end so you hear the actual final song which is called “Her Majesty”. It wasn’t supposed to be included but ultimately it was left on… it’s become part of Beatles lore. Also don’t forget about “I want you” which ends side one (this is famously how the vinyl album was divided). I enjoyed your reaction…amazing song. I’ve always liked Maxwells Silver Hammer btw, whimsical dark humor…well produced. Like others have said I heard this album as a kid and I thought M.S.H was hilarious.
the famous Abbey Road medley starts after this song and closes out the album... have you missed a few... like Here Comes the Sun... you do NOT want to miss Here Comes the Sun

the famous Abbey Road medley starts after this song and closes out the album... have you missed a few... like Here Comes the Sun... you do NOT want to miss Here Comes the Sun
This is the prime example of less is more
Yup this is an amazing song. Nice review.
Heres some ideas of Beatles songs for you:
In my life
Yesterday
Please please me
For the benefit of Mr.Kite
And your bird can sing
Ticket to ride
And I love her.
That’ll keep you going for a while👍🏻
O Bla Di - O Bla Da. is a must!
My favourite Beatles song keeps changing depending on which one I am listening to.
Welcome to the world of the Beatles. Try I want you (she’s so heavy) next time.
thats part of a compilation melody on the b side and the lot should be listened to at once
"Martha My Dear" or "Happiness Is A Warm Gun"
