NEVER trust those CA hinges ! I always cut control surfaces off and replace factory hinges with high quality DuBro hinges. I have this plane still in the box - which 25cc motor did you use ?
Your a good sport about things which is nice to see. Sorry to see you loose a plane, but what can do you when you have a failure like that... It sucks.... Grit your teeth smile and continue on.
At least you got it on video, I myself have been having problems with CA not bonding properly crashed my Arrows F-15 yesterday when both the vertical stabilizer and elevator came off on a touch and go just after leaving the ground. I got extremely lucky only minor damage . 👍✔ Your crash however has to be in the top 10 worst crashes I seen this year. Sorry for your loss🙏✔🎬🎥⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mine did the same thing! Hangar 9 really was proud of the "lightweight" construction but its really bad.....I was able to save mine via power management. Looks like just your elevator came off but my whole stabilizer cracked.
So sorry man! No matter what the aircraft it always sucks when one goes in especially when a component departs the aircraft and there’s just nothing you can do
Damn, both elevator halves and both ailerons are separated from their hinges cleanly with the hinges protruding from the fuselage side of the joint. Who glued the hinges, you or Hanger 9?
I followed the instructions exactly, and the ailerons broke. It is a pity that the top flite company no longer exists, there were no such problems, decent models made in the USA.
U never use Hanger 9's CA hinges. Always use dubro's plastic hinges for composite ARF builds. Hangar 9 CA hinges are designed to fail so u can buy another kit. Always over build your plane ✈️ for safety reasons 🍷
Always Always Always pin your hinges in place. Either with pins or toothpicks. Whether they are CA or nylon. I've had way to many control surfaces come loose in the past
Hate to see this Bobby, beautiful plane, but as ya said…it’s part of the hobby, just wish we could pick the plan if it has to happen, time to buy something else👊🏼👊🏼
One reason why I don’t like the new ARF concept. I had a similar thing happened to me. What do I do now is drill a small hole through the hinge on either side, and pin it with a toothpick and glue it in place.
Bro you could have knife edged it, rolled then then came in for the landing 🤷🏻♂️!! JK sucks just bringing light to a sucky situation, it was flying amazing and super fast 💨!! Hopefully you do as you said on the stream and grab another one soon!! Gonna be stress testing my elevator on theHellcat!!
Drill a hole in the middle of the hinge line where the CA hinge will be this will allow the THIN CA to wick into the wood better and make much better bond.
@@RCPlaneReviewer I guess the only upside to crashes is hopefully we learn. Crashes have taught me a lot. Just wish it didn't sting so much. Good luck out there. Keep at it.
I think the issue is speed when using an IC power system - vibration and flat weak rear horizontal/vertical stabs. Stripping the covering and giving them an air foil and balsa sheeting fixes the weakness. The 20cc size Seagull 47 I'm building has this for the those surfaces.
Bobby the Phoenix models, are affordable,,and easy to build by the way l love 💕 your show,, it's put together GOOD,and it GROWING., really sorry for your lose
THE 1 thing i prefer electric over any engine type plane, NO vibration from an electric motor! Gas/nitro engines have so much/so many ways to rip apart hinges, wood, everything due to vibrations. ANY crash sux. But gotta take the bad with the good. Ill stay with electric, myself. I don't miss nitro 1 little bit!
So sorry. Such a nice plane. However, if/when you rebuild, Hellcats, and indeed all WWII Navy fighters had the national insignia only on the upper left and lower right wings. Just sayin...
Damn bro she was cruising too!!! That was awesome lol sorry for your loss!
Bobby I feel bad man. Great flying until the plane broke. Keep the videos coming 👍

It has an NGH 25cc and it runs good too!
Once in the air, you never know what will happen, doesn't matter how good we are😎
Great flying before the tail fail. Looked good!
Dam Bobby, that sux, I know it’s apart of the hobbies risk, but dam. Looked like they forgot to put some CA glue on the hinges. Defiantly speak to HB.
Your a good sport about things which is nice to see. Sorry to see you loose a plane, but what can do you when you have a failure like that... It sucks.... Grit your teeth smile and continue on.
Right on! 🙂 Thanks for the encouraging words 🙏!
Very nice bird, sorry about your loss man.
Man I feel your pain. She was a beauty though.

Thanks Tughill! it was pretty bad! but it will live on in video lol I have another one on order!
@@RCPlaneReviewer
Convert it to electric! 😁
@@RCPlaneReviewer You should enter that crash in the motion RC competition

That's not the same thing at all.
Strange, all the control surfaces were off after the crash, not enough or no CA glue applied to the hinges?
CA was applied NOT thin CA...accidentally used medium CA instead so it didn't wick deep into the wood to get a good hold
Bobby the Phoenix models are affordable and they are easy build,,l have Zero 68"wing, and l love 💕 your show it's growing,it's also put together GOOD
Thank you!! We try to have fun and made it honest and decent!
Bobby hoping you will get another,if you didn't lose your elevator it was looking super good
@@brianbroady7539 yeah buddy! I ordered another one right away!
So sorry man! No matter what the aircraft it always sucks when one goes in especially when a component departs the aircraft and there’s just nothing you can do
Yeah man it was pretty nasty that was about a $850.00 crash lol
beautiful plane
Sorry about the crash, I have been on the fence for awhile on this one, but I have seen too many crashes due to elevator problems.
so how many crashes due to the elevator problems have you seen on this hellcat??
@@darrenoliverio7259 I have seen three personality with elevator or horizontal stab failure. All were gas powered.
Damn, both elevator halves and both ailerons are separated from their hinges cleanly with the hinges protruding from the fuselage side of the joint. Who glued the hinges, you or Hanger 9?
what did you use to glue those hinges bro? looked like you lost every one!
Med CA...should have used thin CA...(Sigh)
@@RCPlaneReviewer Oh boy....simple mistake you wont make again. great video! build another!
I had the same thing, aillerons fell off in my hellcat, wing, fuselage and os max fs 91 damaged, I'm rebuilding it right now. Greetings from Poland
It's crazy I think the quality control was asleep when they made these lol

Ouch! 😢

The problem was flutter, it's Horizons fault.
No hinge in the world would have saved this

Hahaha I definitely wish I could have picked a different plan of mine hahah I shall rebuild
at least it was on film lol
Yeah that's what I was thinking too
Sorry to see bro! :(

My condolences sir. Hate to see that.

@@tonydeaton2890 yeah I learned that thin CA is mightier than medium CA!🤣
The Horizontal stab is a known issue on this model i have wanted one for a while but until the fix the issue i wont be buying one.

Neither of those will stop a hinge from coming apart. Pin CA hinges.
