As a beta tester i can assure you all 1.6 is a big step up. Anyone fair minded will be very happy and I can see why it's taking so long, It's a massive undertaking with improvements on nearly all fronts, almost feels and looks like a new game.
@@hereward1971 it's enough for me to drive Stock Car 2024 to understand what's coming, I will transition to AMS2 from RF2/AC after 1.6, only excessive slip angle was bothering me and at least on Stock Car 2024 it's fixed.
I don’t understand the mentality of bashing other sims, if you like AMS2 then great, if you like ACC great…multiple different things can exist simultaneously just play what you enjoy
Right? Like i rather a positive opinion and suggestions to fix a sim than simply bash it and walk away. AMS, rf2, raceroom, and acc almost all feel the same. Small quirks here and there but you can easily adjust. I rather ppl express their complaints and solutions.
people think their favorite game is their best friend of all time and other games endanger their friends existence ;-) they don't have much else in their life, but their game ☹
Overtake stuff is just about opinions. Nowadays opinion's power is higher than INFORMATION. Everybody wants to give opinions. I hate the Era of opinions because we people are toxic and destructive, and mostly of us are idiots and destroy other's work so easily. And maybe in some time we change our minds about something but the harm is made already. Pity of western world we've created the last 2 decades.
The Overtake video was not good. I didn't watch all of it. As a beta tester I can assure you 1.6 is going to be great. I don't actually play the current release version now.
I agree with you. Overtake gg was the wrong medium. Can't believe they agreed to downgrading a stream to 720p. Ams 2 is so amazing they should have opted for a 4k version ..and I have nothing against Yannik (wish him well) but his whole podcast was so unrefined and he doesn't appear to have any respect for ams2. Poor form from reiza.
I waited for 3 hours and immediately closed the stream after I found out they were streaming in 720p. Really dumb decision. Almost as if the person doing the stream has zero sense in marketing.
Rise above it, I watched that stream and the chat was as toxic as I expect, from the game to his choice of streaming in a '1990's 720p for god sake' it was frequented by wannabe pro simmers who weren't interested in anything to do with the upgrade apart from what they could slag off. It is no different in the flight sim community, luckily I'm old enough to have my own thoughts and choices.

The negative chat I saw mainly came from folk slagging AMS2, community players in chat ignored chat and focused on the content. Honestly, you're effort to watch Owen's ranty video, read the comments and leave that comment comes across a bit toxic. If you want to, play AMS2. If you don't like it, play something else. Agreed...terrible. They did themselves a great injustice by using Overtake GG. So much hype about version 1.6...and then the preview is a pile of cow dung. Oh well...I will ignore that dog's breakfast of a preview and wait in anticipation for version 1.6.
Yannik has always been anti-AMS2 and people should ignore anything he has to say about AMS2. The beta is phenomenal and the work done and being done is immense. Plenty to do still in the future but this update is huge. Please never mention Broadbent again on this channel, I am still throwing up at the mere mention of his name.
@@hereward1971 Yeah Jimmy actually really enjoyed the update to the physics when he tried AMS2 a year ago, but you also have to consider that one of the devs reached out to him and tore him a new one, which was terribly petty and unprofessional, no matter how much effort they've put into improving the physics at that point, so he stopped covering it, while Overtake continues to cover it with no intention to recognize the progress the sim has made. I also remember not liking AMS2 two or three years ago and now I love it, I'm gonna go ahead and give kudos to Jimmy for letting bygones be bygones, because by the sounds of it, he didn't receive an apology from whoever reached out to him at Reiza.
To be fair Jimmy made multiple videos attacking AMS2 because he was getting a lot of views, the Devs didn't just randomly tell him to F off. in his defence he did come back to it and was posertive, it was all a bit silly at the time.

I'm sure you'll just tell me i'm brownnosing, but Broadbent didn't make videos to just 'attack' AMS2, he made a couple of AMS2 videos in which he loves the graphics and immersion while using VR, but didn't like the physics, after which one of the devs sent him a message cursing him out, which they shouldn't have done at all, it doesn't matter whether they had 'cause' to do it or not, it was embarrassing to the entire development team to do that. Broadbent could've easily just posted the messages and outed whoever did it and chose not to and didn't make any more videos about it, which is about as mature as you can be about the situation. So let's let cooler heads prevail here; we like AMS2, he liked certain elements of it but didn't like others like MANY other simracers and AMS2 fans were VERY upset about that; and frankly how angry they would get at a person deciding they didn't like it was even more offputting than the sim itself back then. Creators can't win, they're either a secretly paid shill glazing a sim when they're not critical of it enough, as we saw with EA WRC and every creator and their mom declaring this is an 'honest review' because people don't know or care that you HAVE to mention you're doing an ad if you're being paid by EA to review it; but then when they're being honest and nowhere NEAR as negative or acidic as Overtake is of AMS2 like Jimmy was, it's still characterized as an attack. I think that distinction needs to be made, where creators are allowed to be honest about their opinion, and those creators highlight that it's just their opinion and people are allowed to feel differently and fans of the sim take a deep breath and agree to disagree.
It's just depressing that the real first footage we get is pixelated garbage streamed by someone who doesn't even really love the game. What is Reiza doing? Hire a community manager and stop this easily-avoidable bad PR. You should've had someone on the stream connected to the dev team answering questions and extrapolating about new features. This was beyond mediocre even if we ignore the terrible stream quality.
Anything Reiza does is going to result in bad PR, because there is no more toxic community than the sim community at large. It's literally a community dominated by the voices of a very loud minority of elitists who try to gatekeep simming to try and force it to be their chosen golden sim or engine or hardware. AMS2 is gonna get dumped on JUST because of madness engine or JUST because of being Reiza. It's inevitable. I just don't watch pre-release stuff outside of the Reiza channel (or usually, any sim devs channel) because it's not worth the negativity of this community. It's a great hobby, it's a gobshiter community
When you can catagoricly claim an entire sim should be taken down from sale because the gear change on one car is a few miliseconds too slow.............You know youv'e reached the zenith of gaming LOL
For the amount of content Timo does for this game, not to mention his posts related to AMS2 on Overtake itself, I personally think he was a way better suited test driver, even if using Overtake channel since they have a way bigger platform. Reiza need to get their stuff together, the game already have a "bad reputation" among the haters that can easily spread towards possible new players. Us that know how to apreciate the game strenghts, will stay, but its still a ongoing product that, if it become unprofittable, might get dropped, like every other one out there. Here hoping that the part 2 at least manage to showcase the already good, and the upcoming great!
Oh, I misinterpreted it then, i thought there would be a 2nd preview, my bad... But my point still stands, I believe. They need to do better PR if they want AMS2 to be as popular as it can be.
The stream crashed trying to stream heavy rain, that's why there was a part 2, it was the same planned session. He was streaming to both twitch and YT at the same time hence the bad quality
I think Yanik was having a really bad time of it and the more it went on the worse it got, another 10 minuets and either his PC was going to catch fire, there would be a power cut or Random rensport fans would have been throwing stuff at his window LOL And through it all he kept going LOL Personaly I'd have turned chat off and made a chicken sacrafice to the tech gods mid stream..........

A preview looks at new features and gives impressions on them, good or bad, didn't get much other than it seemed a chore to play a game he didn't particularly like or had played much while the chat went into a fanboy frenzy of how bad it was, we won't mention the 720p or the other issues. Wasn't a good look for Reiza or Overtake to be honest

Instead we got a live stream of someones forgettable sim night. Couldn’t believe it when he had his stream cam on the whole screen for half a race.

You'd quickly divide your comunity and kill the use base..........BUT......I get what your saying, theres a lot of time and money put into these updates.
I missed the bit where he drove the DTM Audi. Audi's understeer, especially the older ones, big engine right between the front wheels. Like you said 4 wheel drive cars understeer, it's only with modern torque vectoring and the like that it has been reduced. On the plus side, the UI looks nice, and the new shaders made the lighting more realistic.
This reminds me of a year or two back when ChampionJoe tried out version 1.4 or 1.5 live on stream, and was unimpressed for the entire stream, driving the Brazilian stock cars and declaring 'this isn't how cars are supposed to drive' with no racing experience himself. The chat had to feed him settings changes to make the experience more pleasant for him, but he was driving cars he didn't like on tracks he'd never raced on, and it set the tone for the entire video. It just came across as very unprofessional because no effort or preparation was made before deciding to stream to hundreds of people. But when Rennsport comes out with yet another incremental update, simracers were supposed to be impressed at the progress made while watching Joe excitedly hotlap the same track that is IN EVERY OTHER SIM in a GT car that is also in every other sim. I hate to say it, but I feel like I prefer Traxion over Overtake who seemed to be a bit more elitist and biased in their approach to covering simracing. I didn't watch the stream, but I'm not at all surprised that they were very unimpressed by the updates.
I've been testing 1.6 for about 40 hours longer than Yannik.. Overtake was the wrong place to show it. Traxion or Timo would have been a great option. I watched it for about 20min and that was more than enough. The technical glitches he had didn't help. Whoever reads this, just be patient, it's all good
That livestream did no justice for the work Reiza has put into 1.6. The tires feel amazing, you can sense the rubber chunking up and rolling under the tire when they're cold and being worked. That slipperiness is gone and replaced with confident road feel. And the Audi handles amazing, buddy just can't drive. I drift that thing everywhere
I watched the awful live stream for 20 mins until it went south, then another one popped up later in my feed and I thought surely not, Renato must have seen the first one… Anyway, I don’t think I’ve ever been overly critical about AMS2 here on Owen’s channel, I like what he does, in fact I actually watch him drive AMS2 more than I drive it myself at the moment. I do have issues with the physics and the AI, but am capable of appreciating the things it does very well. It’s possible to have mixed opinions about different aspects of the same game without being a ‘hater’, it is however one of the most polarised and difficult communities to have conversations with. I continue to keep the faith but am seriously considering knocking all the social media on the head to avoid the conflict. Owen, should this be the last time, thank you for the videos and laughs.
It's a game........I know, that statement alone could trigger some LOL Over the past few years I've been less and less interestead in social media, this youtube thing was an accident or cruel joke! I don't get the "my game is better than your game" ideology that goes so far as to screaming at strangers in chat that your right and there wrong ....about a game! Ok it's a sim, it's still something you do for enjoyment, a hobby, entertainment, a game........everyone has opinions but if your opinions differ, oh it's gloves off time, not sure when or how that reality changed but it's a little crazy! Right hope you do drop in again buddy, I'm away playing with some radio waves :)
Nah, I enjoyed the stream. I don't understand why they took it down. Yes, it was not the perfect stream, but hey, it was not the worst either. My only complaint was the F1 race at night. That was dumb. But everything else was very good and I'd love to watch it again if I had the opportunity.
Shhhhpeeeed annnnnd Poowwwwwwer....I have to admit watched the stream, and if Reiza's not on the blower to overtake and asking "what the f**k was that all about" they need a kick up the rear, and I dare say all the ACC fans are still ranting about cheaters and he fact kunos have stopped working on it and put it into maintainence mode. Any car of the era is going to bite you if you just mash the throttle rather than feed the power in smoothly. First stream should have told us what to expect for part 2....more crap. @@hereward1971 They may have hoped that pt2 was better than the betamax version that pt1 was. AMS2 has its' faults even in the notformedia beta but it's gotten a lot better than what was displayed in glorious 720p....It was like watching it on my sinclair pocket TV ;-)
I was really hoping the new GUI would be a standalone app like Content Manager, which you could launch from windows (without the need for loading the whole game), and quickly congifure things before launching into exactly the scenario you wanted.
Please don’t delete this vid. It’s an honest and valid representation of how many of us who enjoy AMS2 might feel about the ongoing toxicity. I personally don’t like to get involved in the whole who said what and when thing. It just adds more fuel. Your vid just shows the frustration and that resonates very effectively.
tried it. I'm underwhelmed Edit:- i take that back i actually put a good amount of time in it today and its quite amazing! Thing at first i just had wrong car track combo. I think vr takes a little bit of a hit though atleast for me

Sim's are just that, Simulators, you are never going to transfer the "real" feel through a sim, that you get when driving in real life, just something as near as dam it, as for fans of any particular Sim, they will knock any other sim just because they can, end of the day, we have a free choice, we use whatever sim suits our needs, I've been using AC for many years, and as much as I like it, I will admit that some other sims have things in them I wish were available in AC, saying that, I came to AMS2 quite recently, and admit that it is somewhat a more polished Sim than AC once was, but with the help of Modder's and CSP/PUR/SOL and the likes AC has improved and moved on, I await the 1.6 Update and see how AMS2 improves, Oh and I came to Sims via the likes of Richard Burns rally. TOCA and NFS in the early pre PC sims, worlds apart in comparison to say the least. I for one like variety, as there are still things in some Sim's that are better than in others, it's Horses for Courses to be fair, why anyone rises to click bait is beyond me, Just go out and try it for yourself and make your own decisions based on your own views, as individuals, we will never share the same opinions or views, so just get on with it a enjoy the fun to be had. Oh and Owen, your videos are both entertaining and informative and my go to for honest and enjoyable content, Keep them coming young Sir

I really like AMS2, but I am not really happy with the AI (like I am in almost any racing sim/game). my biggest issue is, they don't care about rain, as far as I can tell. also, yesterday I was racing an oval for the first time in AMS2 and figured the ai is completely unaware of the player and often break in flatout corners Oo they drive their line and that's all they do, regardless of if you are in their way or not😬I hope, some day, they will adress the AI. everything else is absolutely fine imo
There is still rubber banding, and I don’t think we’ll see ai running on the same physics as the player in rain because of the demand on the cpu to do the calculations for a 48 car grid now it’s expanded for single player in 1.6. But it’s improved a lot compared to how it has been.
I understand this patetic behaviour of fanboys from other games, they scared about the competition from other race sims, they know it but they deny it to themselves. Quite sad but I leave them alone and in the meantime I enjoy AMS2 and Owen's great videos
I tend to ignore it, I play all the sims, don't burn a light for ams2 or any of them but when faced with a horde of slavering fanboys I had to make an episode of "What Really Grinds My Gears" LOL
The alternate universe was 1991 where it ran against the DTM merc and M3, it came 3rd but was carrying a huge added weight penalty due to it destroying everything at the time.
The problem with AMS 2 always has been that every update promises to be a game changer, yet at the same time every fanboy claims there is nothing wrong with the current game. You can’t have both. While it has improved AMS2 always has had hovercraft driving feel which many feel is simcade. Turning down tyre noise and changing camera settings does not fix this. I enjoy watching your videos because I like looking at ams2 more than I enjoy playing it. Having said all of that I am excited about 1.6 and will try it when it comes out. I have never felt understeer in this game before so maybe it will be better!
YES the preview was very bad............That was my point, you got it. As did the majority leaving comments. The video has been removed so either Overtake or Reiza also got that same sense.

Not sure he got left in no mans land a lot of the time but the Ai was battleing each other and spread out into small groups.
Did they fix the sliding effect we feel in front wheels. In my eyes it's the most important thing.

I remember PC2 launch thats adsactly what they did with a small streamer from Aus, it was a great stream and very funny

It's literally a community dominated by the voices of a very loud minority of elitists who try to gatekeep simming to try and force it to be their chosen golden sim or engine or hardware.
AMS2 is gonna get dumped on JUST because of madness engine or JUST because of being Reiza.
It's inevitable.
I just don't watch pre-release stuff outside of the Reiza channel (or usually, any sim devs channel) because it's not worth the negativity of this community.
It's a great hobby, it's a gobshiter community
When you can catagoricly claim an entire sim should be taken down from sale because the gear change on one car is a few miliseconds too slow.............You know youv'e reached the zenith of gaming LOL

For the amount of content Timo does for this game, not to mention his posts related to AMS2 on Overtake itself, I personally think he was a way better suited test driver, even if using Overtake channel since they have a way bigger platform. Reiza need to get their stuff together, the game already have a "bad reputation" among the haters that can easily spread towards possible new players. Us that know how to apreciate the game strenghts, will stay, but its still a ongoing product that, if it become unprofittable, might get dropped, like every other one out there. Here hoping that the part 2 at least manage to showcase the already good, and the upcoming great!
It was part 2 that resulted in this video, it was pulled last night.
Oh, I misinterpreted it then, i thought there would be a 2nd preview, my bad... But my point still stands, I believe. They need to do better PR if they want AMS2 to be as popular as it can be.
The stream crashed trying to stream heavy rain, that's why there was a part 2, it was the same planned session. He was streaming to both twitch and YT at the same time hence the bad quality
I think Yanik was having a really bad time of it and the more it went on the worse it got, another 10 minuets and either his PC was going to catch fire, there would be a power cut or Random rensport fans would have been throwing stuff at his window LOL And through it all he kept going LOL Personaly I'd have turned chat off and made a chicken sacrafice to the tech gods mid stream..........

They took down the live streams from their channel. The devs really need to clarify what is going on.
A preview looks at new features and gives impressions on them, good or bad, didn't get much other than it seemed a chore to play a game he didn't particularly like or had played much while the chat went into a fanboy frenzy of how bad it was, we won't mention the 720p or the other issues. Wasn't a good look for Reiza or Overtake to be honest
@@hereward1971 when I heard overtake was doing the preview I thought for sure it would be a well scripted features video taking us through of all the new changes. Instead we got a live stream of someones forgettable sim night. Couldn’t believe it when he had his stream cam on the whole screen for half a race.

I missed the bit where he drove the DTM Audi. Audi's understeer, especially the older ones, big engine right between the front wheels. Like you said 4 wheel drive cars understeer, it's only with modern torque vectoring and the like that it has been reduced. On the plus side, the UI looks nice, and the new shaders made the lighting more realistic.
And if you don't mash the loud pedal the audi goes sideways for days if you want it :)
This reminds me of a year or two back when ChampionJoe tried out version 1.4 or 1.5 live on stream, and was unimpressed for the entire stream, driving the Brazilian stock cars and declaring 'this isn't how cars are supposed to drive' with no racing experience himself. The chat had to feed him settings changes to make the experience more pleasant for him, but he was driving cars he didn't like on tracks he'd never raced on, and it set the tone for the entire video. It just came across as very unprofessional because no effort or preparation was made before deciding to stream to hundreds of people. But when Rennsport comes out with yet another incremental update, simracers were supposed to be impressed at the progress made while watching Joe excitedly hotlap the same track that is IN EVERY OTHER SIM in a GT car that is also in every other sim. I hate to say it, but I feel like I prefer Traxion over Overtake who seemed to be a bit more elitist and biased in their approach to covering simracing. I didn't watch the stream, but I'm not at all surprised that they were very unimpressed by the updates.
I've been testing 1.6 for about 40 hours longer than Yannik.. Overtake was the wrong place to show it. Traxion or Timo would have been a great option. I watched it for about 20min and that was more than enough. The technical glitches he had didn't help. Whoever reads this, just be patient, it's all good

That livestream did no justice for the work Reiza has put into 1.6. The tires feel amazing, you can sense the rubber chunking up and rolling under the tire when they're cold and being worked. That slipperiness is gone and replaced with confident road feel. And the Audi handles amazing, buddy just can't drive. I drift that thing everywhere
I think they took the Overtake gg video down... all I see now is the placeholder . . .
I watched the awful live stream for 20 mins until it went south, then another one popped up later in my feed and I thought surely not, Renato must have seen the first one…
Anyway, I don’t think I’ve ever been overly critical about AMS2 here on Owen’s channel, I like what he does, in fact I actually watch him drive AMS2 more than I drive it myself at the moment. I do have issues with the physics and the AI, but am capable of appreciating the things it does very well. It’s possible to have mixed opinions about different aspects of the same game without being a ‘hater’, it is however one of the most polarised and difficult communities to have conversations with. I continue to keep the faith but am seriously considering knocking all the social media on the head to avoid the conflict. Owen, should this be the last time, thank you for the videos and laughs.
It's a game........I know, that statement alone could trigger some LOL Over the past few years I've been less and less interestead in social media, this youtube thing was an accident or cruel joke! I don't get the "my game is better than your game" ideology that goes so far as to screaming at strangers in chat that your right and there wrong ....about a game!
Ok it's a sim, it's still something you do for enjoyment, a hobby, entertainment, a game........everyone has opinions but if your opinions differ, oh it's gloves off time, not sure when or how that reality changed but it's a little crazy!

Nah, I enjoyed the stream. I don't understand why they took it down. Yes, it was not the perfect stream, but hey, it was not the worst either. My only complaint was the F1 race at night. That was dumb. But everything else was very good and I'd love to watch it again if I had the opportunity.
Shhhhpeeeed annnnnd Poowwwwwwer....I have to admit watched the stream, and if Reiza's not on the blower to overtake and asking "what the f**k was that all about" they need a kick up the rear, and I dare say all the ACC fans are still ranting about cheaters and he fact kunos have stopped working on it and put it into maintainence mode. Any car of the era is going to bite you if you just mash the throttle rather than feed the power in smoothly. First stream should have told us what to expect for part 2....more crap. Leave your vid up mate. It's all valid. Rant as much as you want too 🙂

@@hereward1971 They may have hoped that pt2 was better than the betamax version that pt1 was. AMS2 has its' faults even in the notformedia beta but it's gotten a lot better than what was displayed in glorious 720p....It was like watching it on my sinclair pocket TV ;-)
I was really hoping the new GUI would be a standalone app like Content Manager, which you could launch from windows (without the need for loading the whole game), and quickly congifure things before launching into exactly the scenario you wanted.

Sim's are just that, Simulators, you are never going to transfer the "real" feel through a sim, that you get when driving in real life, just something as near as dam it, as for fans of any particular Sim, they will knock any other sim just because they can, end of the day, we have a free choice, we use whatever sim suits our needs, I've been using AC for many years, and as much as I like it, I will admit that some other sims have things in them I wish were available in AC, saying that, I came to AMS2 quite recently, and admit that it is somewhat a more polished Sim than AC once was, but with the help of Modder's and CSP/PUR/SOL and the likes AC has improved and moved on, I await the 1.6 Update and see how AMS2 improves, Oh and I came to Sims via the likes of Richard Burns rally. TOCA and NFS in the early pre PC sims, worlds apart in comparison to say the least.
I for one like variety, as there are still things in some Sim's that are better than in others, it's Horses for Courses to be fair, why anyone rises to click bait is beyond me, Just go out and try it for yourself and make your own decisions based on your own views, as individuals, we will never share the same opinions or views, so just get on with it a enjoy the fun to be had.
Oh and Owen, your videos are both entertaining and informative and my go to for honest and enjoyable content, Keep them coming young Sir

I really like AMS2, but I am not really happy with the AI (like I am in almost any racing sim/game).
my biggest issue is, they don't care about rain, as far as I can tell.
also, yesterday I was racing an oval for the first time in AMS2 and figured the ai is completely unaware of the player and often break in flatout corners Oo
they drive their line and that's all they do, regardless of if you are in their way or not😬I hope, some day, they will adress the AI. everything else is absolutely fine imo
They can be great, the next moment not so great LOL
There is still rubber banding, and I don’t think we’ll see ai running on the same physics as the player in rain because of the demand on the cpu to do the calculations for a 48 car grid now it’s expanded for single player in 1.6. But it’s improved a lot compared to how it has been.
I understand this patetic behaviour of fanboys from other games, they scared about the competition from other race sims, they know it but they deny it to themselves. Quite sad but I leave them alone and in the meantime I enjoy AMS2 and Owen's great videos
I tend to ignore it, I play all the sims, don't burn a light for ams2 or any of them but when faced with a horde of slavering fanboys I had to make an episode of "What Really Grinds My Gears" LOL

The alternate universe was 1991 where it ran against the DTM merc and M3, it came 3rd but was carrying a huge added weight penalty due to it destroying everything at the time.

The problem with AMS 2 always has been that every update promises to be a game changer, yet at the same time every fanboy claims there is nothing wrong with the current game. You can’t have both.
While it has improved AMS2 always has had hovercraft driving feel which many feel is simcade. Turning down tyre noise and changing camera settings does not fix this.
I enjoy watching your videos because I like looking at ams2 more than I enjoy playing it.
Having said all of that I am excited about 1.6 and will try it when it comes out. I have never felt understeer in this game before so maybe it will be better!
