She didn’t know what she was doing. It was my understanding she was trying to cast a spell to make him “ lose his heart to her” meaning a love spell but her pronunciation was wrong therefore shrinking his heart to nothing. Then Nessa begs Elphie to save him and because you can not undo a spell in Oz once cast the only way to save Boq is to turn him into a man who does not require a beating heart to live therefore making him the tin man.
In the movie the grimmerie will probably flip to the heart spell page on its own and Nessa will just happen to have some magical talent and can read it but maybe doesn’t pronounce what she reads correctly and that’s how it goes wrong.
What I think/hope the movie will do is instead of making her walk the shoes gives Nessa powers, allowing for the title of wicked witch of the east to make sense and why nessa tries to read the grimmerie also works. And if she has powers Boq will feel the same of not needing to be there. I'm curious to see how the movie will change this
Nessa technically this is your fault you’re the one trying to kill buck trying to get him be in love with you but you did it wrong. I got them killed so that’s your fault for getting him as a tin man
I am wondering how they’re going to do that sequence because I’ve noticed that some Nessa’s choose to have like limited movement in their legs, like a stiff leg shuffle can’t bend their knees, but can still get from one place to another, without assistance but we won’t know until it comes out (next year😒)

I think Nessa is more like Morrible where she can read it but hasn’t been exposed to it enough.

Nessarose actress in the movie couldn’t really walk in real life. They couldn’t make her walk in part 2. I preferred reboot the movie.

God Nessa really is amazing here. I love her line readings and the power ugh a tragedy it was cut from the cast album.
