    I completely agree with you. For a few years, I no longer assemble my pc. Dell micro and Lenovo tiny (refurbished) are my new friends ;) .
    I live in france and the best source for used pc for me is Ebay. Several German reconditioners sell on this site, and the prices are good. ( thanks to google translate for his help to write this and the possiblity to read the subtitles on your videos )

    I bought a Dell OptiPlex 7010 refurb. mini tower computer in 2018. I got everything that I wanted on it and it has been great! It is like a baby tank...I love it!

    Buying a low end refurb and upgrading yourself is your best bet. Not sure about amazon but ebay, Craigslist, etc are good options. Optiplex with i7, 500GB rust drive and 8GB RAM for $100 or less all day. Invest around $80 in an SSD and RAM upgrade and you got a screaming fast daily driver for less than $200. Side note: I don't know anyone personally who "buys" windows. Put Linux on it and it will be virus free and last forever.

      Thanks for sharing. Yes, you can get some great deals now especially when buying new ram and other components are at a high. Linux is great but doesn't work for everybody especially if you have work programs you need but I understand your point.

    Neither. The best option (which I used) is to buy a "refurb" direct from Dell, preferably in cosmetic condition "A". Recently bought an Optiplex 3050 SFF (no O/S) for $99 + tax and free shipping from Dell. I chose the "no O/S" version since I'll be doing a fresh install of Linux Mint, and have no interest in dealing with W11 and its associated issues. The Optiplex I bought came with a 500GB hard disk, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, plus a new Dell keyboard/mouse, along with Dell's (free) 100-day factory warranty. Cheers.

    Yes, buying a used Dell does make a lot of sense. The best part about Dell is that the drivers are almost always going to be available no matter how old the system is. If you buy a more generic system, you can never be sure of support later on. I almost always by Dell.

    yes for generic use like browsing, email, ms words, spreadsheet.........imo the refurbished is still worth it

      Yes plus most users are email checkers and web browsers so it's plenty for that.

    I agree, buying refurbished from Dell has always been a plus for me....You do get more for your money on refurbished/off-lease.

      Yes, when you do the math it's a no brainer. Especially when things like Ram and Motherboards go up in price the refurbs usually don't. Thanks Eduardo.

    the main part of computer is CPU. I bought a dell optiplex 9020 for $320 with i7-4770 CPU vs Celeron G4930, the i7 is 35% greater effective speed. compare the CPU using any benchmark website. Furthermore, there is not much CPU difference from a 4th gen vs 10th.

    I purchased a refurb Lenovo from Amazon. It had the original owners info on it, was full of dirt, 3 months in had an error that couldn't be repaired. I had tech bill, and was advised not to return to this company, they did not communicate with me, and my info could not be wiped. I didn't want to put my personal info at risk. Totally a rip off. and NO REFUND! DO NOT BY FROM AMAZON!

      Yes, all the resellers are different. I have found some that are very good etc. but understand that some are not great. Tigerdirect sells these also and they might be a safer bet but yes I do agree that a bunch of research is needed to make sure the company providing the computer is a good company.

      Are you close to a MicroCenter (not sure if you are in the States)? This is a nice place to shop for used PCs - www.microcenter.com/category/4294967292,519/refurbished-desktops . Also Tigerdirect.com etc. but not sure if you are looking for a model or place to buy.

      Yes I reside in buffalo NY. I’m looking for a system. Best bang for the buck. I just want a home computer, I have a few hdd’s I want to attach to transfer data from. So expansion slots for GXD would be good, otherwise I can just get a hdd enclosure for a way around accomplish that. No fancy video editing and such. Would be convenient if it was small. Any recommendation for a system?

      I really don't trouble shoot individual stuff as you can imagine it would consume my entire day. I don't really have a Beelink either but I would contact the manufacturer about that question.

    would a typical refurbished dell i7 16gb ram be good enough to run a DAW for music production?

    • @craigneidel
      @craigneidel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks George. Sorry, but I don't run DAW but would assume it would be based on the age of the i7 chip.

    • @georgefenning4844
      @georgefenning4844 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@craigneidel Thanks for getting back. Yes. good point . I'm guessing the renewed market will all be old i7s. IM going to take a chance and ,if nothing else , at the price, it will be a good home machine for everyday use if things don't work out. Some sellers have indicated I can try and return of it doesn't run the soft ware - which simply states i7 but no specific model or year. Thank you

    • @craigneidel
      @craigneidel  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@georgefenning4844 Good luck and yes find a place with a good return policy. I'm sure it would run it with any modern i7 and 16 GB Ram so you should be pretty safe.
