The USP is such a sexy handgun. Would love to see HK release them with an optic cut, a pic rail, & button mag release. I’m sure they eventually will. They already have those options on current releases. Awesome video bro.
"They don't have a lot of modern features." Thank God. The USP is (imo, of course) the finest combat/defensive pistol ever made. I pray they keep offering it in this form and don't eff it up with optic mounts, Pic Rails, and all sorts of other mall ninja BS. I'm an old man who started shooting in the early '80s and I like old stuff. 😄 Btw, the eagle over letter N seen on guns more than 10 years old is the Bundesadler ("federal eagle") with the N meaning nitrocellulose. The staghorn is the logo of the proof house in Ulm, Germany. In 2014 or 2015 they got rid of the Bundesadler and replaced it with CIP (Commission Internationale Permanente) over N (as on your gun), which is a general Euro proof mark.
I EDC a USP 45. The USP is hands down my favorite handgun. I’ve owned more of them than any other handgun platform. To answer your question you can get a right sided safety lever and you can also get an ambi safety lever which is what I prefer and have. Regarding the rail, HK was the very first manufacturer to put in a rail on a handgun. The USP and MK23 were the ones they did it to. You can get adapters as stated and mount any light you’d like. It was originally Insight that made the lights for them. My USP is a “one off”. It has ZERO roll marks on the slide. No “HK”, no “USP”, No “45 Auto”. Which at first I hated kind of. Didn’t even notice it till I got home with it. But, it has grown on me quite a bit. Try a Grey Guns short reset kit in it. You can also add in the HK match trigger kit WITH the GG short reset kit to get even more of a reduced reset. These guns are built like tanks, and will outlast the majority of shooters. If the world ends, this is the sidearm I will be carrying. Long live the USP
Got one from my gunsmith's personal collection. Man do I love that gun! The style, recoil impulse, accuracy...I can go on and on. I'm a new HK USP fanboy, so I'm still learning. What I do know is the BK on the slide dates your pistol to 2019. Mine bears KF making it probaby one of the first USP 45 produced in 1995.
Can we sign a petition to formally demand a micro USP compact? Lol, who do we send the completed documents to at H&K. The new striker release profoundly disappointed me. I need a true USP that is micro size.
Whelp, tight group to the dome piece says..."You're fuckin dead." The USP is one of my favorites in the HK line of handguns. I've got gorilla mitts, and I don't think my thumb reached the mag release. I'd have to get my hands on again to verify. Yet, my favorite part of the USP is God's way of saying, "Enjoy yourself, son. Here's a double stack .45. Now go forth and sling my caliber into the evil that doth walk my Earth!"🤣 And of course, I have do to it. Who used the USP as their go to secondary in Call of Duty's multiplayer? < THIS GUY DID!
Great guns.............I have a 94 date code USP 45. Tons and tons of rounds downrange, snow, rain, summer heat. It just never stops.........can't be mad about that. If you find one and spend the chunk of money- you have bought a LIFETIME weapon that can be handed down generations. Look at the testing they did and the requirements this thing met to be brought to service.........it's crazy. Absolute GOAT status and to me it's as much an icon as the 1911. Bold claim I know..........but they really are bombproof pistols.
Definitely a cool gun. Had a USP in 40S&W that was my father's. Very sturdy pistol. Ended up selling it and getting a G17, which for me just worked better. No doubt though a very cool piece! Great vid Matt!
Ive had mine for 15 years. I put the match trigger and the extended mag release in. Also dropped the saftey for decock only. Only pistol I would trust for the apocalypse.
If I remember correctly, these ( the USP line) offered up to 9 different fire control configurations, SA/DA, DAO, decocker and safety options etc.. built like a tank, definitely a "get you home" pistol
When your first shot hit the "A" dead center, I figured that said it all. This is my daily concealed carry and in my opinion, the best carry pistol ever. I'm really glad it doesn't have a 1913 rail, I hate those things on pistols. A Streamlight TLR-3 will clamp directly to the HK rail, which is plenty of light, or you can convert to 1913 rail with a GG&G adapter. I just wish HK would make a single stack USP9 Compact (still compatible with the Match Trigger Kit) for deep concealment.
The HK45 looks a bit more ergonomic. I’ve never handled one , but Naval Special Warfare adopted the HK45. We all know why… the Seal teams wanted a 45 pistol to suppress.
I only ever owned one HK, an HK-4 which was a Mauser HSc in a restyled package. Originally they had caliber change kits for them. Mine broke the extractor and it took months and months to get it back from HK repair. It had the same issues as HSc and Walther pocket pistols in that it bites the hand and the DA pull is for desperation shooting only.
I am an HK Fanboi to an extent. Not too keen on their newer offerings. I have some of their most iconic firearms and absolutely love them. My USP 45 Elite is my nightstand gun, with a TLR 2 light/laser on it.
Guten tag mein Herr! Thank you for the review. HKs are/were made in Oberndorf, Germany, the town that the Mauser factory made famous. To answer a few of your questions- The proof marks are- CIP - this is a European group who handles firearms testing and standardization of cartridge dimensions/pressures. Similar to SAAMI, if you know about them. N - proofed for nitrocellulose, or smokeless powder. BK- is a date code (I think) The stag antler- shows where it was proofed at or which proof house it is affiliated with. the stag antler is a symbol of the Ulm, Germany proof house. There are members of the Ulm proof house who are at the HK factory, instead of each gun going to Ulm to be proofed. DE- I am unsure about this one. I would assume that DE stands for Deutschland, meaning that the pistol was assembled in Germany, not in the US as some are. Again, this is just an educated guess. Nice gun and review. However, ...... it's still not a COLT!!!! (got to always represent the cult!)
I just did a video comparing the hk usp45 with the hk 45 an the upgrades done by hk But as a lefty you do have to buy a separate lever to change it to the left side but use the same detent plate an some of those marks are date codes where you can find out when your gun was made by hk .
Still waiting on the Optics ready VP45 😂 Can you imagine if car companies worked like HK? Go to the dealership and it’s a brand new 1992 Dodge Shadow next to the 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ next to the 2025 Hornet. And they’re all the same price 🤣
What mods have you done? And does it still cycle basic 45 ACP with the heavier spring? I have a Mark 23 that handles 45 Super stock. The fireball with 185gr underwood makes me giggle.
I bought a HK45 a few years ago and I still don't like it. I tried to sell it and nobody wanted it for half of what I paid for it! So, it sits way in the back of the safe with about 50 rounds through it. And in the back of the safe it will stay! Never again will it see the light of day! In a word. Sucks!
Why would H&K come out with a full-size .45 with less capacity than the USP? The move to picatinny rail and a more streamlined mag release are pluses. But, the finges grooves, inferior trigger shoe, and departure from the dual recoil spring assembly just make this pistol inferior.
Help me to understand something that I've seen a lot. Why get a 30 years old firearm and start bashing about being "not modern enough" ? I mean, is a perfectly capable, functional and reliable firearm... What's the point on "it has no piccatiny" ohh " not optic capable" just don't get it
@@FoulPet Do share your reasons for this. I've never had a problem with any Glock I've owned. You think price matters in the accuracy department? Last time I checked the gun is the tool. If you de-cock the gun, it goes into half-cock, where the next DA trigger pull is a bit lighter than a regular DA trigger pull.
