Hands down, this is the best 2x72 belt surface grinder that I have seen on TH-cam to date... and I have seen pretty much all of them as far as I know lol... Keep up the great work! Really enjoyed this one! Cheers! - Jesse
A very big job but absolutely worth it. I was considering a similar project for my 2 x 72 Grinder. It is not as heavy as your machine but the principle is the same. Thanks for the post.
@@PaveW There's a business somewhere in that notion. Machines that give you a good workout and get work done. In a world where people pay for "job simulator" and goat simulator on steam, you should be able to make a "gym" where you charge people to get your work done. :)
Wow, really, really nice. Like others have said, it’s one of the nicest design of a surface grinding attachment I’ve seen. Clean beautiful construction. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful work man. I like the flex of having such clean lineup you can use a tiny little bit to screw it in with ease! Hah! Great job, and a great example for use about to do it ourselves. Thanks.
What brand mill is that ?And what brand is that Vernier scriber ? Never seen on like that. Couple suggestions for your next project. If you can tap everything you can on the machine. Remove the drill ,chamfer the hole and tap using the chuck. That hand chuck is perfect for that. I have done it for years. If the machine has a neutral use that and spin chuck with hand. Very creative design and nice work .
Nice build, can I ask what size the rail width was? The others I've seen used rail that the carriage sat inside not on top of, curious if this one has any flex?
Just gonna go out and say an endmill in a drill chuck should only be used for plunging/ drilling The drill chuck is mounted on an taper and side cutting forces can and will dislodge it leaving you with a busted drill chuck and the possibility for a safety incident, just get some sidelock holders or better yet an er collet chuck for your mill
@@PaveW hey man we all gotta start somewhere just trying to impart some wisdom an ER collet chuck is best band for your buck bc you can get collets for a range of sizes and you can even use them for drilling and have less runout making life easier
@@david-onearmedknifemaker-8955 yeah ive never personally used an endmill in a drill chuck for side milling its just one of those safety things that in school they drill into your head so you never forget them
Its called a milling machine and yes it would be very benificial, but you could probably also tweak the design a little bit and do it with a drill press
This is the first knife making video I have seen where the edge scribing is done with a correct tool!

Thank you :)

You came along way from just a few short years ago Bud .. 👍

Free workout and job done what could be better? :D

Construction and tutorial 10/10

happy to see new videos from you !
Excellent work! Looks really good
Simple and elegenat. Very nice, space saving design. Pity, that you haven't list the materials - especially those black-green rolers.
Very fine machining work.
Great job as usual, nice build 👍👍👍
You are genius 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
When you finally get a milling machine and tap and die set for your birthday...🤣🤣
Great video, keep up the awesome content.
Do you have plans for this? One of the best builds I have seen
I don't have any plans of this tool, I had only a conception in my mind.
@@PaveW you could make bank if you adapt this to be made by home makers. Like the revolution dude did. Make that money!
Brilliant job that, so impressive.
What magnets did you use? 50x10x5? N52?
Отлично сделано! Респект!!!
No! Bardzo dobra robora! Jaką masz frezarkę?
Dziękuję :) frezarka Cormak ZX7032G 400V

Where did you source your magnets? I am having a hard time finding suitable magnets. Nice build!
Hola como se llaman las guías q le pusiste y en donde las puedo conseguir?saludos!
What brand layout scribe is that at 0:18 ?
the best!
I like it :)
However, don't you think your arm will get tired very fast because the handle is really high up?
Probably it will but, fortunately I I'm not going to spend lot of time with this tool
Nice build, can I ask what size the rail width was? The others I've seen used rail that the carriage sat inside not on top of, curious if this one has any flex?
The rail is hgh 20, so far I have not spot any deflection.
@@PaveW Thanks, looks like a good unit and interesting build
nice!!!! very nice !!!👍👍👍👍👍
Great project. One question; what size aluminum bar did you use? The bracket looks like maybe ¾ x 3" and the chuck 1 x 2"?
Any chance you sell some plans online to make this ourselves? I'd gladly buy em.
Hey Man good looking surface grinder attachment. quick question what size linear bearings did you use?
It's hgh20
Sweet thank you so much
Wonderful job, would it be possible to get a parts list? And do you have a construction plan? I would pay for it too, kind regards
Unfortunately, I don't have any plans, I made it with what I had in the workshop
Excellent, subscribed. We also posted this video on our homemade tools forum this week :)
Do you have links to the sliding hardware you used ?
I bought mine on amazon, it's a HGR20
So those little magnets are really that strong??
Magics of neodymium
Nice!

Are there plans for the surface grinder attachment?
Unfortunetly I don't have any plans, made everything by vision in my head .
Why do you use it vertical.its very hard for users
Because my belt grinder has only a vertical set up.
So I guess I’ve gotta spend several thousands of dollars for one of those machines to make one of these.
Its called a milling machine and yes it would be very benificial, but you could probably also tweak the design a little bit and do it with a drill press
Another unattainable project I cant do with my meager shop tools:(
You can always try to make it just with file and driller but it probably won't be as that precise
A router will cut aluminum. Great make sure that you have it secure. Clamp a fence on both sides and take light cuts.
