If you don’t know, please be aware that alcohol, U.S. tap water, animal products and processed food are major causes of cancer. I recommend filtering any tap water you intend to use for drinking or cooking. I also recommend you check out Forks Over Knives to learn about eating plant based whole food.
Around 100 years ago, the LA Chamber of Commerce hired the Olmstead Brothers to draw up a plan for the urban development, parks and open spaces in Los Angeles County. One of their top priority recommendations was to not build on the hills and within canyons because of the dangers of fire, landslides and flash floods. They also came up with designs for parks running along the Los Angeles and San Gabriel rivers, keeping them natural to allow the rainwater and snowmelt to percolate into the aquifers. The plan was killed by the same chamber of commerce because of real estate speculation greed. Prior to that the native were doing controlled burns for centuries which not only helped prevent larger blazes but created a healthy homeostasis for the environment in general. You’re right about the invasive flora, especially the mustard plant that was brought by the missionaries and all the grasses brought by the ranchers. They dry up by June and made California and the west coast in general 80x more flammable than 250 years ago. So I guess you can blame colonial capitalist greed.
This replicates Australia, also with how Indigenous Australians used fire control. It's strange that what you say would be news to some in the US, but I guess fires are a big part of the Australian landscape so that gives a motivation to study it and make people aware of it.

Sammy, here’s a better solution: make the rod hollow! That way, it conducts heat from west to east and collects the water from east to west. A giant underfloor heating system from coast to coast. People on the West Coast get free hot bath water, people on the East Coast stay warm… everyone’s happy! You’re welcome 😌
🧨 LA Fire Department has a Circa 1961 video “Designed for Disaster” where the same fire situation was explained. Subsequently, there was not the political will to change building codes enough to a far more higher standards for high risk areas. Ya got to build smarter, mandate new requirements and avoid mass damage. The Santa Anna winds are well known and require far more fire mitigation protection by design and Codes. Right now people are naturally charged emotionally. Moving forward we have a lot of technology and knowledge to fix the rebuild. Some of it is just simple policy, like the five foot rule, nothing to burn within 5 feet from the house. There are anti-ember screens for home perimeter soffits. Stucco can be fire impervious which could also be added to existing structures. The documentary by the LAFD is like they just released the video last week. The expression “He who fails to learn from history is doomed to repeat it” may hold true here. However, people need to rethink and understand their own responsibility as well.

The reduction of funding by 17 million part has already been shown to be false. It was taken out of context or cherry picked.
