Lots of sympathy to the young people. I struggled too! Many businesses want only experienced personal.

Maybe experience doesn't secure jobs, but when I applied my applications were rejected based on experience. O course I am a white Afrikaner male and that count against me, but it was not actually the real reason for my bad luck.

there is a selection criteria in most cases your employer just likes u and your education does not mean jack some cases they need a black female for example only for reception.

I was once invited to an interview of a large organization. I was invited to sit down with two personal managers doing the interview. First they started asking warm up questions. Suddenly one of them asked me what I was doing there and who told me to come for the interview. I was taken a back, but answered the question politely. From there on I could see they just wanted to get rid of me. Maybe they were very proud of themselves, but I think it was a bad advertisement for the company. I basically lost all my respect for them.

The problem is that seniors are not graduates therefore they do not want them there.

We have to control our borders to protect legitimacy of our qualifications and to be paid fairly.

The girl from Limpopo says young people aren't exposed that does not exist because as of lately in South Africa it's hard to enter a place where you aren't employed bcs security are instructed not to allow you in even if you approach the very SABC as a Media graduate to seek to work volunteerly they won't give you a chance...if you digg deeper on this unemployment of graduates you will be aware that there are graduates driving taxes, selling on the streets we live with them and we are pained

the biggest problem is we are living off other people's ideas. we need our own ideas, that solve our own problems.

The job marked is too small + its saturated - due to de-industrialisation + restrictive labour policies - the tax kitty is stolen empty with lots self inflicted vital infrastructure ails - eskom, railways, mass unemployment, corruption, rampant crime etc
Foreign investors with mass employment want to make money - they don't want to battle through restrictive red tape just benefitting the political elite.
920,000 matrics left school Des 2022 - how can a shrinking job market absorb such numbers every Yr? If these issues don't get resolved, the job market will keep on shrinking amidst a growing population.

There is a lack of political will to resolve the issues we face a country. There are lot of talented youth out there that are not getting a stab at the economy. We can blame the government and blame the previous regime of which they are mostly to blame for all the ills that are our graduates face. They study hard with the last monies they got from their parents and some from NSFAS with the hope of making it out there. First year of not getting employment really demoralises. Unfortunately, that is the way a lot of the youth have been cultured, to look for employment. If you can look at their white counterparts, they stand a far better chances of making it than their black counterparts. The whites own the economy. A white graduate might get a chance at the uncle's or aunt's business and grow from there. The next thing they will be managers and hiring the very people they studied with.
The whole system flawed. The government is not willing to do anything about it. Yes, it is not the duty of the government to create employment. That's what we are made to believe. Look at the history how many jobs the previous regime created. The SOE's employed thousands of people. They killed almost all the SOE's. They will be selling remainder to the private sector who is there to make profit. The climate is not conducive. People are uninspired. The talent is leaving the country for opportunities overseas. That's a lot of money lost. The country has spent thousands to educate this person who cannot come and plough back. Other country are happy to benefit from our investment.

Got to start from the bottom and then work yourself up...job hopping if need be.....work for free for a while to get practical experiance.......put yourself out and show them what you can offer.......start a business so long....hands on to the office if need be....get yourself in.....a week or month later....they sommer employ you....never know...otherwise....go to another for experiance or stick with the initial one....build the relationship. Have fun.
