Be it education, healthcare or job creation, India has never viewed this as an important vehicle of progress. A few CEO’s of Indian origin from IIT’s doesn't mean that Indian education is competitive.
Religion, language and caste politics : Everybody is complicit in this. The party promising the most freebies wins. People ae killed simply because they dated/married someone from another caste/religion.

I am from Pakistan and one thing I want to tell indians is that, this is not just the story of laymen in India, it's the story of Pakistan also. I can relate to this report 100% because I also belong to a middle class family, we live in the province of Sindh in southern Pakistan, my father is a clerk in a government department, after years of hardwork my parents finally got me and my elder brother educated in bachelor's degree of civil engineering. After graduating from university it was revealed to me that how difficult it is to get a job here in Pakistan, I tried so hard to get a government job I studied for one whole year and improved my English language skills and general knowledge but was not able to get a government job because I think the results of the test take for that government job were fabricated and biased, so I simply left my will to get a government job and got recruited in a private construction company and now I feel that it's not that bad actually I am getting to learn new things everyday and I am grooming myself and I can feel the growth the intellectual and professional growth in myself and eventually I want to say to all students whether Indian or Pakistani, leave futile kind of government jobs and start doing private job you will feel that you are achieving something in life.

UP is making a massive delta bet on very rapid real GDP growth; and borrowing a lot massively ramp up investment. If real GDP grows more than 11% a year, then UP will be okay. Or else . . . it won't be good.
The massive construction boom in UP is creating great dust, noise and inconvenience. This is a major problem.

The private sector jobs in India that I'm aware of are so highly exploitative as well. Whether Western companies actively underpaying outsourced work or Indian company execs keeping payments and not passing them to employees.
I have friends who immigrated to Canada from India, programmers and very good ones, who tell me the Canadian companies pay them 10 times more in fewer hours and better conditions than what they earned in India doing the exact same job.
Their parents had been ashamed that they worked in tech in India and were astonished to learn that it payed extremely well and was highly regarded in North America.

    • @alchemist7412
      @alchemist7412 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

That's because of the law of demand & supply. India lack manufacturing so most of India's engineers ( Mechanical, Electrical etc) also end up as Software engineers. This creates high competition for jobs in Indian tech industry & naturally companies started paying less to freshers because there are many who are willing to work for a lower wage. Canada is a country that lacks enough tech workers so they are importing them from abroad & so you would expect Canadian employers to pay more.

    • @a8894tina

It is because western companies are paying less. They know that India has lots of unemployed but educated and needy youth. A similar documentary should be made in Patel Chest Christian colony of New Delhi. I'm from Manipur. I stayed there during my graduation in DU. The living conditions is just shocking. The place is built on the side of a big drain with very foul smell. The rooms look like jail cells with no windows or sunlight. There is no difference of day and night. One endures the heat of summer in such a room with no source of income. Insomnia is very common. Many study hard with hopes while many lose hope to get a job but do not return home because they are afraid they will disappoint their parents. Despite this horrible conditions I have a lot of memories of the place. Playing football and friendship get me through those days.

This problem is not only in india, its a problem in many third world countries. I'm from kenya and the Job crisis is really bad here. The unemployment rate is really high and educated youth cant seem to find employment. Back here, you will find someone with an Economics degree from a decent university selling maize on the side of the road or a person with a masters in biochemistry being a courier on a bike. Its why so many people are so desperate and eager to seek a better life abroad, particularly in Western Countries where Opportunities are plenty. Its very sad when you consider someone put in the hard work to get an education which is supposed to be path to a better life, yet ends up in despair.

@daniiel mlinarics You are right about the corruption and funds for instance that have been loaned out to governments by organization's such as the World bank on projects that could have been used to create jobs that gets squandered. Though that's half the story. Unfortunately, unlike the developed world opportunities are few and far between. They are poor countries after all. Market is saturated with educated people. In places like India and Africa, its not about the government "giving an education" to people. People actually desire to get an education because its the traditional way to a better life. You are told when you are young that if you want a good life, go to school, work hard, go to uni, get a degree and get a good job. This is because poverty is so bad, people are desperate not to get into that. In the UK for example, some guy might not be interested to get an education so he could just chill at home and go on welfare or get a job at Pizza hut for example that needs no qualifications. That job at pizza hut btw pays more than an accountant back in a place like India. That same guy working at pizza hut may not have a lavish lifestyle but would even be better off than 95% of the population in developing countries.

Issue isn't that there are not enough jobs but the issue is that most indian demographic aims for same jobs which is much higher. IT cities like Bangalore and Gurugram desperately need people to fill jobs , but most Indians comes from middle-class households believing Government Jobs, are the best Jobs. Now there are enough Job openings in Government Sector, but so are it's applicants and India as a nation where academics are taken very seriously, students with average academics scores don't have much of chance of cracking these exams. They would rather keep on preparing and give this exams over and over again rather than trying their luck on private sector.

I live in a village and it is impossible to get a private job from there because you have to work 12 hours a day in a private company and the salary they pay does not cover the cost!
The number of government jobs is very low, so the competition is very difficult! For example: if there's 4000 vacant posts for a government job, more than 1500000 candidates appear for the exam!
Moreover, it is often heard that jobs are sold with money! Rich people who live in the shadow of politics can afford it! Which is not legal at all! And there's no way anyone can prove it but everyone knows it happens!

Reservations on the basis of caste is not the solution infact reservation must be on the basis of financial conditions. Remember india is a labour intensive country and thus Indian labour is very cheap. Private company's main objective is profit and it knows there will be someone or other who is desperate enough to work 12 hrs a day for low remuneration. If you can afford it, leave india. Industries were not set up in UP for a long time due to fear of 'Mafias' doing criminal activities here. People had no other option but to go for a govt job (public sector). Public sector also has a limit to generate jobs each year, where population is rising at much higher pace. Some of the factories for railway and defence sector are being set up and will start in a year or so. Roads building at massive scale needs people. Due to lack of employable talent, people from other states are doing jobs there.
Govt also need to promote private sector in non metro, smaller cities and the youth also needs to shift focus from govt to private sector jobs.
Generally, govt jobs are mostly chosen as a permanent solution, because govt can not sack you even if you are not doing your duties proper. But, in private sector the life is much tougher. Every penny they pay they squeeze you for the outcome and job is insecure for non performers.
BBC as usual did a story that lacks research. Topic they chose is no doubt is a burning one, but what about previous figures and current figures. All figures of frustrated youth and that you are showing on news without getting it verified from any proper source.

I'm going to disagree with you there. The unemployment situation is not nearly as bad as it is in places like India and in Africa. A lot of people in the UK are entitled and lazy and would rather go on the welfare system. For instance i was working in Dominos back in the UK up until November last year and believe it or not most of the workers were foreigners like me. One English guy quit his job of being a driver after only 5 days cause he found it to hard. He also did it because he has something to fall back on "welfare". I've also met not one, not two or three but at least half a dozen people who have no ambition back in the uk. Youthful, not serious with life and just want to hit the pub and get drunk all day, everyday. Go to any British Uni or most of them at least, most of the students are foreign. I wonder why?

People of India should be more responsible while voting and electing a representative who is going to run the country. The education, their kindness and work performance over the years must be considered. THE COUNTRY IS ABOUT UNITY IN DIVERSITY AND NOT VICE VERSA. Such a pity that uneducated, criminals and shameless people are been elected to govern the nation. Andhbhakts are responsible for the agony of this country. Deserving public is suffering, while some folish are been promoted or hired just by sources, power and money.

Understand the reality first. All these job aspirants are those aspiring for government job. Can the gov. simply create jobs for filling these aspirants in. There is no dearth of jobs for those with skills. The problem is that everyone wants gov jobs when there is not enough of it. These people write tests for years and wait to pass and get interviewed rather than look at other opportunities. This is where the problem lies. There is no dearth of jobs in reality. One person said he was studying for 8 years. What was he studying. Probably some useless GK, GA, aptitude, current affairs and stuff. Instead if he spent 6 months acquiring a useful skill, they would have been in a way better position. So understand the context first befor simply covering things BBC.
