You’re definitely right, but, it’s not depth it is the illusion of depth. Filmmakers are exceptional at this. Filmmakers trick the brain by putting a lot of lines in the frame. Now check out the first frame @0:01 and see all the lines in that frame.
Sense of depth yeah!... but especially the first person camera behavior is more accurate with the real movement sense!

This shows how with most big-budget videogames, photorealism is often not actually the goal - rather what we want is a convincing and super high-fidelity fantasy world. This is very different from that. This is very impressive and very interesting. Looks to me like a lot of the visual realism comes from environment design, highly detailed animation, model texturing, and rendering effects that mimic a small camera with a small lens and auto exposure. Esp the way the trees and sky outside are rendered is very true to that.
For the people that think it's fake, or think it's cut scenes, nope, the developer posted proof that this is real time control of a game. It's just simply amazing...

Can we all imagine how long this took to create? The intelligence level of the developers.... all of the research.... the vehicles layout.... stairs, broken things all over.... the way the camera moves, the bodies as they fall, the way the gun interacts with the scenario.... this game has had a lot of sleepless nights, skipping meals..... ALLOT of energy put into it

The lighting, animation, movement, sound, everything is on point! holy cow they even got the rubble and detail right in the environment. This is insane
To me, the most fascinating aspect of the graphics is the light effects. Like moving from a lit room to a dark one and how the camera adjusts is beyond amazing.
For me it was seeing the different depths of the rust on the handrails.
I'm guessing you never played Fallout 4 because that's a thing for the game and that's been out for 8 years lol

The camera is 100% scripted to make showcases like these more engaging. The movements have no logic behind them. Maybe this dev is just some kind of genius who can do more natural, illogical movements than ILM
I'd be interested in this if the enemy faces weren't blurred. It's a bigger deal than you think since it means we don't get to see any decent blood splatter or cool shots to the back of the head or face. Body shots don't really do it for me
Ive been to that place multiple times, they just added cgi characters, prompts and some props to make it gamey. How come triple A games with bid budget, that are developed by big teams and are on UE5 dont look like this? UE5 was released to the public not so long ago. Dev companies have access to it for far longer, even before the engine itself was showcased for the first time. Use your brain.

Amazing graphics. The daylight ones are nearly indistinguishable from a real video. The dark scenes are less real. But overall, amazing.

for some people thinking this is recorded and fake. if you look closely you can see some glitches. the body does not have a shadow 0:34 and if you look closely you can see that the rocks and assests do have some odd things to slightly linger its a game

Also the mechanics and what they're selling for the game. Honestly, everything about this game sounds great. Haven't had anything close to Police Quest. And the SWAT 3 inspired game is essentially still catered to multiplayer. This could be a genuine singleplayer detective thriller with a nice analog spin (Analog horror comes to mind)
This game is the definition of a masterpiece and it isn’t even done yet.. will look much better even tho it already does look insane 👌💪

Anybody else weirdly amazed yet creeped out by how photorealistic this game is? We are slowly tiptoeing closer to the uncanny valley here folks.
Yes this actually quite disturbing when you stop to think about it. It was always easier to recognize the line between what's real and what's a game when it came to shooters. This is especially important for kids for whom you don't want to normalize violence. But if shooters begin to emulate real life, it breaks down those walls and opens up the possibilty that this is going to desensitize people to this kind of violence. It reminded me of watching videos on liveleak or r/watchpeopledie. It's kind of scary.

This makes a non VR game look like a VR one. IF this can be played with keyboard and mouse without a VR headset, it's just perfect. Unmatched level of immersion. Imagine the devs seeing all the comments of ppl saying they think it's fake. That's actually a huge compliment.

I'm really interested in how he is handling the camera's movements. It seems that the hand is controlled by a mouse, so I'm not sure how he managed to let the player rotate his head this naturally. This is a top-level talent right here. Can't wait to try it out.
Since it's a bodycam game you are not in control of the head at all; only the arms and the sternum POV.
There is a similiar thing in gmod as mod. In that mod when you go to the edge of the screen with your arms then the camera moves.
Mr ethanol is right, there was Smod:tactical for half-life 2 back in the day, same aim system you see here if I'm seeing things right
ArmA 3 has a deadzone option that lets you do something similar.

Only flaw was the lingering/thick gunsmoke. Hopefully they fix/nix that. Guns don't do that unless they're wet, which, in key situations might be cool, but not if dry.

This is actually possible for a while now. The modern engines allow for interactions like that automatically, but it requires soooo much work for details. Amazing job indeed.
The gun mechanics & sounds are extremely accurate as well. The recoil was a little off still excellent

They need settings to be available for when your killed in the game you have to start completely at the beginning of the game and depending on how you were injured and where it will affect your gameplay so you can't take a magical medkit and completely heal your gunshot or stabbed wounds or a broken arm/leg or let's say you stepped on a rusty nail that to will affect your stealth. Now that will absolutely make you play to survive with caution.
what makes it videorealistic is the way it mimmicks not the camera movement but how cameras suffer with dynamic lighting ,especially the sky being shown as grey and blurred when exposure struggles
Its not the graphics that made this looked insanely real but the body movement and animation and filter this dev implemented is near perfection which created the illusion that it looks real. Also the lighting

Graphics aside, the fact that the gun jammed at 1:21 and you have to manually take the mag out, rock the slide, and put the mag back in shows the amount of effort towards not just the graphics, but the gameplay here is astonishing

Easily one of the best first-person cameras I've seen. Combined with the excellent animation, lighting, and materials it gives a sense of striking realism. Kudos to the artists and engineers who made it happen.

The lighting is Lumen, the environment are photogrammetry scans using Nanite, the camera movement and detail in the animations comes from inverse kinematics. You can see the animations used multiple times, like when he kicks the door, the death animations, the reload animation. You can also see the less-than-perfect collision and physics of the chair the dude trips over at the end.

Honestly the animations to me are more impressive than the graphics. The micro-adjustments the guy makes with his hands while holding the pistol really sells it, along with the fact that the gun seems to move more than the camera itself, unlike most FPS's today where the gun looks like a static mesh stuck to the side of your screen.

In simple terms, onespeed thinks that the gun/arms are not manually animated but captured from real human movement.
"Mocap" stands for Motion capture.

There is two thing that make this like video game first is at the start when the main character jump on table trying to catch the enemy second is when the main character hear gun shot from enemy the screen just bluring a bit, the rest? It feel unbelieve real
The way he quickly accelerated into a sprint and the gun smoke were the only tells for. Insane
Also the kick animations while opening the door was a giveaway. But the trailer is insane.
The animation of the fall of the man at the end was, for me, the most unrealistic

The windshield of the white van was far too clean and reflective, especially sitting in a dusty old building. Devs need to put some dirt decals on it.
The Recoil and No Crosshair makes it more more interesting and we all love it if they dont hit straight you have to literally aim ..loving the challenging gameplay
A lot of FPS allows you to turn off the crosshair in settings.

Without people's faces, animation, play of light and shadow, there will be no realism at all. Notice that there's a lack of shadows, practically everywhere.

The area that lacked shadows most was the warehouse in the middle of the vid, but it also had 360 windows all around the tops of the walls, and at the brightest point of an overcast day, that throws so much diffuse light around that shadows aren't as obvious as they might normally would be.

I'm old enough to remember gaming before the NES. It's incredible to me to see the progress of video game fidelity, where we now have games that could be considered almost indistinguishable from real life
looks as fake now as sega gensis did then to me, sorry. pretty easy to tell real life from fake.

@@tanner4280 if it was to be produced as an atmosphere heavy game, the underwhelming gameplay would be okay. it's okay to make trade offs in any sort of artistic/technical endeavor as long you know what fits well. but yeah, most people gonna run it on low settings anyway
