The descriptions of any% by most chatters weren't very great lol, for anyone who wants a rundown here it is: Any% means that you have to reach the end of the game, and it doesn't matter how much progress you make in the game to get there. That's why it's called any%, because you can complete any percentage of the game, as long as you reach the end. This is in contrast to 100% (and a few others) where you need to complete specific things, in 100% you need to do everything the game has to offer (usually what this entails is decided on collectively by the speedrunning community). I don't believe Minecraft has a 100% category, the closest I know of is all advancements. This specific run (the second run he watches), as listed in the description, is any% set seed glitchless. This means it used a seed which was known and practiced by the runner, and used nothing that the community considers glitches. The one shot arrow thing is then not considered a glitch by the community, I'd imagine some kind of vote was held on whether it should be allowed
it was so unbelievably frustrating to see how many keyboard warriors were in the chat feeding him straight up MISINFORMATION about speedruns thinking they were an expert lmao
I'm not all the way through the series yet but I watched this live yesterday, it was so cool to see you think your way through the game and then your reaction to the builds on the server. The players were so excited to show you everything. I found the series to be really refreshing. Great job!
Ascension blocks is the best thing to come out of these streams, I can't explain why but it's so adorable. It has become a thing on our survival server lmao. Never in my 11 years of playing Minecraft have I heard anyone call it that, even though it totally makes sense.

This is like bringing a prehistoric human to the 21st century. I think this server was pretty overwhelming for him and hope he's allowed to explore more at a slower pace. And while the server is amazing I suspect Oliver would have enjoyed starting from the beginning to learn with just a few people.

Awwww, I'd hoped he'd try figuring out more redstone stuff blind, oh well - PiroPito managed to do a lot with redstone in his blind series, but he did do a lot more farming and off-camera work so he had more materials to work with.
I mean have you seen season 2? He forgot everything he saw. Doesn't know what reapters do, struggles with comparitors, doesn't gte pistons. Like the redstone he's seen isn't explained nicely so he won't use anything he saw really so you still get a blind figuring it out you wanted

Figured caught a section of a stream and saw him confused by a piston. I just pray he figures out he can combine enchanted tools cause it was so painful watching him use 4 diamonds instead of using another echanted tool to fix his stuff😂 everything else I can deal with but that was like my one pet peeve that he never tried😂
everytime he asks how did anyone figure that out? I always think....they read the changelog, i mean most ppl dont play minecraft as he did. But actually one thing i also didnt know in there is the secret redstone room in the ancient city lol
Changelog and the code. Theres a whole bunch of the technical community that designs the farms and the tools for the farms that read the code to figure out what everything does.
about 4:32:00 i have actually checked out other blind playthroughths before oliver here, and except of 1 or 2 all lost the game at the crafting table...i mean, 1 hour videos without tools... they just couldnt manage, some even forgot you have to cract another pair of planks to craft sticks/tools after placing the crafting bench and give up on it, usually they at some point find a village, which pretty much only distracts them from what one should actually doing to get forward in the game...i never managed to watch or fly throught more as first episodes except of oliver here, because i couldnt handle the stupidity.

why was eceryone saying F3 is a cheat option? even on bedrock you can have the coordinates. everyone uses it. it's part of the game
technically it invalidates the compass and the lodestone, but i agree that its not a cheat

What is the shader pack he was using at the beginning? It looks awesome! I'm new to the Java world as well lol
I don't know his exact shader pack, but take a look at Rethinking Voxels - it's the best one currently.
