8:54 "1 minus 1 is none, what is minus 1 from none" the answer is "N" by removing the word "one" from "None", which is basically a reference to the group's name Nmixx, I think that's a really cool riddle
@@lazyg7218 It's an art movement that started in Europe and centered around "nonsense" and "irrationality" in response to WWI. It was supposed to be making fun of the traditional conventions of art and those who would be offended by the refusal to follow them. Dadaism has an intentionally stupid name and crazy visuals to drive this point home, but funnily enough, it started to become popular. It's a brilliant concept for NMIXX--just a matter of learning how to balance the craziness
Just so you know, abstract art often still has structure though things like line, color, shape, theme, and even texture. So yeah, humans really like structure, even our “unstructured” abstract art is quite structured. But some people don’t like it because they can’t see that structure (or they dislike that structure) and that’s totally okay! It doesn’t make abstract art lovers better or any different from people who don’t like abstract art! Our brains just all process things differently and enjoy things differently and it’s okay!
JYP already has groups like TWICE and ITZY, Nmixx doesnt need to be another group like that, they do something different and I like that. a lot. I LOVE Nmixx, they have the talent, the visuals, the dance, the vocals, the presence. My only complaint about nmixx is line distribution, but that is a problem EVERY kpop group has. I personally enjoy everything nmixx has put out so far, and i really like their vibe.
exactly! if nmixx followed the same creative path as twice & itzy, jype would just have made another girl group for the sake of producing an idol group. i love that nmixx is simply doing different things. kpop music has been so linear nowadays that when o.o came out it was so jarring to listen to music that's been structured so differently than what we're used to hearing from kpop and people were so quick to judge. i've genuinely enjoyed their releases, both o.o and dice were unpredictable and it makes me seriously curious and excited about what they will do for their next comeback ✨
@@kwonamy13and the next cb they just left that kind of genre 😭 they change NMiXX just like itzy and twice 😭 but I'm hapoy they got their 1st win with that kind of music just like others. But kinda miss the fantasy instrumental 🥺
tbh i don’t understand why people act like fans can’t genuinely enjoy nmixx i don’t fully enjoy it but i can totally appreciate it i think o.o was a bit of a shock but the way this mv and the lyrics play out really explains what nmixx is all about, this is definitely a very creative group
ikr like why people always said that people who really enjoy their music are just "lying" and said they're force themselves to love the song 🙃 like, there's also a really bad kpop song out there imo and nmixx's isn't the "worst"
@@blooming-celestial I thought I'm the only one getting annoyed by the "lying" when a listener was enjoying. Also, they're getting crossing the line, to be honest And, if they hate nmixx (with or without reason) why can't just IGNORE them. Also, let's try our best to ignore those hate comments
Exactly!! Like i loved all of nmixx's songs at first listen and people say how can they have fans? i hope the girls don't feel sad by those words. They're talented people and I'm happy to always enjoy their music. And it's annoying how people always say they should sing normal songs, when they have bsides that don't have switch ups ugh. I think I'm gonna stan them now.
honestly NMIXX’s concepts are chaotic in the best way possible, I’ve been LOVING the switch-ups in the songs because they’re such a change from the 20 years of music I’ve been listening to and their concepts are just so fun!!!
I hope NMIXX and JYPE will pursue this kind of music genre. We all know there's always time for improvement. Trying things outside the box doesn't equate for perfection in the first tries. They will master this soon enough.
@@Blaze72sHI know this genre is already executed in kpop. I am trying to say that the company, being not recognized for this music taste and being not well used to in this music prod, can still master this soon enough if they are really trying to pursue this track for nmixx. Nothing is impossible in trying, honey.
At first, with O.O, I really thought its a failed attempt. With DICE, at first listen, I'm like "Again??? They should stop." But listening to it again and again, I see how great it really is. The music quality and the instrumental are fancy. I'm shocked that Sullyoon did a highnote also. They all did great! The only thing I noticed is how some members pronounced the words, seems like they eat them. But other than that, they really have a fancy potential.
@@agumon1605 the closest comparison would be f(x), sm experimental group. Their music was way ahead that time but personally I think their music was well put together compare to nmixx. I hope jyp will find the perfect song for this group
@@madz8936 i agree, tbh such an experimental and weird structured music is always a hit or a miss unless SM makes it💀cuz SM is like the OG and they have basically mastered experimental music, i think o.o was a miss at first but by time it grew on me. On the other hand, dice was far better than o.o , i liked it on the first listen. But i agree NMIXX's music isn't for everyone, but as a person who really likes music which challenges me, i really admire dice wayyyy more than o.o. which ig is also why aespa are my ults, their music cannot fit everyone's taste either but you need some time to truly understand the beauty and pleasance of their music. I love the mysterious aspect these girls' music has.
They are not on the top10 ( no hate) because the songs in top 10 are hype boys, after like, attention, shut down, pink venom, love dive, 10cm, rush hours and a feat with ZICO idk where did you see this but yeah
And my friends still hate it for god knows what reason, it's honestly sad living in a different plane of existence. He even said they were just shouting and not singing like istg what.
Girl quit lying nmixx was never in top 10 stop making stuff up they never went past top 50. Their actually charting this cb which is good because on their debut they where struggling to actually get on the charts but the groups that where charting well was blackpink, ive, all new jeans song, le sserafim, Zico and wsg. Nobody really liked Dice a lot and it wasn’t trending in Korea like where are u getting this false info. But people actually think it’s better that their debut since their debut was so controversial since it wasn’t a pleasant song to listen too.
For the white cats, I thought they symbolize other kpop artists as in all the shots where white cats appear, the members are all wearing white. As you said at the beginning the song is about them competing with other kpop artists. Also, this MV has a big Alice in Wonderland influence, as shown on the cards with Cheshire Cat. Therefore maybe they are scared of the cats because they don’t want to be tricked and or deceived by others to bring them down. I also noticed that the door is the same colour as Cheshire Cat, maybe that symbolizes there are always people waiting to trick and deceive you.
JYPE has used cats in multiple Twice videos and now here and I have NO IDEA what the meaning has been behind them??? I’ve been trying to figure it out for years 🤷♂️
the effect of kyujin (the one in red hair) having those multiple copies of her expand when you hear the line “we go up” is so cool bc its very reminiscent of the alice in wonderland card guards where they’d start spreading out everywhere like crazy
On my first listen, I already liked the song especially Kyujin's "big wave big wave...", and the high note of Sullyoon and Lily's part after. Well no surprise lol I like mix pop.
I genuinely love Dice! This comeback was great. O.O is a bit more controversial but it’s still a good song. They’re so talented and I hope JYPE will keep using the girls talent and sees their potential
6:47 I'm still not 100% sure abt the meaning of the dolphins and pirate ships But NMIXX has had aquatic themes from debut. Their debut single album is titled "Ad Mare", which means "to the sea" in latin. Their logo animation is like a bunch of little bubbles of liquid coming together. In the O.O MV, they start out in front of a marooned pirate ship. And now in DICE, we heavily see a lot more of the sea imagery: dolphins, Kyujin on the pirate ship and looking through a telescope, Lilly holding a pirate map and pointing forward. And in the ending scene, Bae drops a little marble that falls into a yellow underwater world with jellyfish. My prediction is that NMIXX is going to continue this theme until we fully see them with an aquatic/underwater concept in a future comeback.
Read ateez's treasure series's lore... What nmixx is doing is a complete rip-off. The description of their debut album on melon is basically word for word ateez's spoken intros/outros and lyrics put together.
I really love mashups and mixed kinds of music and sometimes I even listen to fanmade kpop mashups more than its original songs, and NMIXX music feeds my musical cravings that I believe no one will ever understand. Like Jordan says, it is like abstract in visual arts but in kpop. If you don't like these kinds of music then find something else that fits your taste. Just because most of y'all don't like their music doesn't mean nobody liked them. I LOVE their mixed-vibes music, and I don't want them to change it just because some people said so. As long as the NMIXX members and fans enjoyed their music, it's fine. No artist wants to be dictated on what kind of art they will make, so let them be, it's their art, not yours.
apparently, haters thought that we, nswers, are 'faking' and 'lying' about enjoying nmixx music and that's not true! I genuinely love and enjoy their music! Like I said, just because some people hate their music it doesn't mean that no one loves their music! The world doesn't revolves around you so don't be selfish and let people enjoy their music!
@@Megan-bw5zh if you take the lyrics too seriously or literally, yes it will sound random but if you internalize the lyrics, it does say something. Song lyrics are like poetry, sometimes it sounds like it doesn't make sense but if you read it deeper and think freely and use your imagination, you can find something... @@gelijelly9570 bruh that’s the most basic lyricsm ever this ain’t even a storyline please don’t put up such basic lyrics, music with storyline. People try hard to create a flow which they clearly don’t have you can’t justify it in any way
Calling them "the world's most controversial Kpop group" because people debate whether their songs are good is completely ridiculous. Honey Popcorn was a Kpop group that consisted entirely of Japanese pornstars and Korean parents actually signed a petition to prevent them from debuting (it didn't work but they didn't last either). The girl group GLAM disbanded after one of the members went to jail for trying to blackmail a Korean actor. April was forced to disband after a bullying scandal that they couldn't disprove. T-ARA was hit with a similar bullying scandal, and even though they were falsely accused it badly damaged their reputation and limited their success for years. These are real controversies, not "I don't like their songs".
The cat = The Cheshire Cat (in Alice in wonderland) dolphin and other sea animals (also from O.O) = fish made out of smoke by the catapillar (in alice in wonderland) the ship = there is a ship in a bottle when Alice fell in to a whole in DICE MV, in the beginning, the sound of door opening and the choleography of opening the door = alice trying go through a golden door after falling in to a whole. the smoke from the DICE = smoke comes up when catapillar change its form (in alice in wonderland) and there are more you can think of and can deeply get in to. this is why NMIXX is amazing!!!!
NMIXX is like a whole deep art in itself. the concept, the music, and the dance. and not all understand and appreciate art. it’s like we’re entering a new era of art (just like how renaissance came after baroque), and some people get shocked by the new concepts and traditions that those changes seem like weird things that they decided to hate. but i genuinely hope that NMIXX and their team won’t budge despite what the haters say. i personally love their concepts and songs, since i am open to unfamiliar art and new things. these girls got everything in terms of talent and concepts. and i know in the near future they will be big.
For a dancer the Dice choreo and music is a biiig present. As the music changes all the time and the moves are as chaotic as the song it never gets boring to perform!
0:13 It's not really like that. Most people agree that they're super talented and don't hate them at all, it's just their music that people dislike a lot. Also I wouldn't say they're that controversial. From my experience most people dislike their songs but even people who love their songs understand why they are disliked. Because it's obviously on purpose that their music is the way it is (unappealing to most audiences). This is just experimental. edit: I mean experimental in the way they're trying to make work things that usually don't work and are unpleasant, that's just what I meant I was not talking about the genre.
@@cosmicalsims I still think it's better to point out that people separate their music and their talents. There are groups that many people hate overall (music/talent/etc), and the way he said it made it sound like Nmixx belonged to this category too but Nmixx are not like that because they are constantly praised even by fans who don't like their songs.
It makes me sad knowing so many didn't like them... I've loved them on debut haha... O.O was a bop that never left my playlist. These girls deserve the world. They can absolutely make it.
That's what i like about nmixx, they are random, they came out of nowhere and freaking average kpop fans, they're really mysterious cuz why would the jype carefully chooses the most talented trainee and give them this, this has to have a deeper reason.
I definietly agree with you. Nmixx members are the best of the best kpop idols in 4th gen yet jype decided not giving them an easy listening songs like what ive have today. There must be a reason for that
Personally, I like Nmixx because of their unique style. Their MVs are taking you on a rollercoaster ride through different world and sensations. Kinda like what Jordan said, it's like abstract art.
Exactly!! Just what happened with a lot of other groups, people always criticize what is new... funny cause i see a lot asking for originality and innovation😂
They're not ahead of their time at all. All they did was do what SM does best (but badly) and slapped the name "mixx pop" on it to make people think they created that kind of music
AND the album is called "entwurf" which means "draft" in german. so it totally makes sense that they have a lot of differend styles in the song. plus they sing about "rolling the dice" like in "we use the dice to decide which drafts we use"
I personally love the way NMIXX’s MV’s and music is with the different beats/change ups all the time, I don’t get why people hate it?? It’s different and cool And literally so many other groups have it too but it’s so subtle that you don’t always notice it, Pink Venom literally has change ups but people don’t hate on them because they love Blackpink lmao🙄
Honestly I like this comeback it’s great the song is amazing it grows on u just like oo! The b side Cool is great to loved it ! Dice is also amazing the vocals dance is just perfect and the mv is wowowowoow
Honestly... I like them so much, idc if there's no structure or a really deeo story in the videos, is random stuff but for me it's so well done that actually works! And this music video really remind of Alice in wonderland (wich I think was the prupose) and a fancy casino. And the song for me is so goood :"D
Years ago I went through my entire music library and edited each song to only the parts I liked. I feel like NMIXX is doing this, but there is no reference to the whole songs. I just feel like this jarring between styles pulls away from how talents the girls are. A lot of songs have different styles in them, so I wouldn't mind a slower transition from style A to style B across the whole track. I still have O.O on my repeat list for driving though.
so i’m not the only one doing this! And yeah I agree, I think that there are many parts I love but they are sandwiched between the quick switch of the styles, making it sound kind of jarring
10:15 The cats in the JYP verse represents the villain that are actually itzy , NMIXX are trying to save other groups from de cat .If you remember the last song from Itzy is called Cheshire which is a cat from Alice and the wonderland you can see that they give villain vibes and on set me free of twice they are trying to be set free from the cat . If you want to know more of the JYP verse I recommend see videos on TH-cam about them they are very entertaining
NMIXX's world is from Alice in Wonderland. That's why the visual, MV, the song it self is mysterious and kinda new. I want everyone to listen to this song more than 5 times!!!!!!!!! the I sure will undersrtand that this song is sick! and you also can understand the world if you watch alice in wonderland again.
It's honestly been a while since a kpop GG's comeback makes me excited. I am personally an Itzy and Dreamcatcher stan because they are pretty unique in concept, but overtime their music tend to be pretty similar each comeback and you know exactly what you are gonna get. I mean BP comebacks are down right boring becasue of that, I literally cannot tell their songs/MVs apart anymore. I think the "structure" for NMIXX is that they are always gonna be doing mix of genres in each of their title tracks, but what and how these will be mixed is what is exciting! These girls are killing it also, everything aside, this is a ROOKIE GG, but do they look like rookies to you??? Hell no, they are ALL amazing.
I genuinely love nmixx ....they are already making their own genere of music....way too different from other kpop groups ...and there's nothing forcing me to listen them ...keep slaying nmixx✨️
what I noticed about the song is that it mimics a rollercoater ride you'd see in a carnival, and the mv and concert has a lot of carnival/circus themes. the pacing and structure of the song isn't as random as some people think
I loved it at first listen too honestly. I think nmixx songs were designed for ppl with a certain taste and other ppl like it better after listening to it more. O.O was amazing
I also love the matching action(?) transition from the dance at 6:18 to the hamster wheel. The move had the girl wave their arms in a circular motion that matched the direction of rotation the hamster wheel was going. And I liked how when they rapped about dreams, they used the footage girl in the clouds. I’m more surprised you pointed out the jumping edit during the rap line but not that
The Cheshire Cat is a fictional cat popularised by Lewis Carroll in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and known for its distinctive mischievous grin. from wikipedia
I know this video is from several months ago, but first of all, I connected to this song almost as soon as I heard it. There was something about the change up that was significantly less jarring than O.O (and more similar to SNSD's I Got a Boy) and Lily's high note was just _gorgeous._ The MV kind of seems to me to be a reflection on their debut? Like, they were confident when they took their chance, they just knew things were going to turn out well and they would receive praise and jump straight to the top. Instead, they got backlash, even from those they expected to be their fans, even from their fans, the people who like them as members, but weren't fond of their music. So they were setting off for another adventure (the two girls in the boat) and preparing to take another chance, because they can be successful, they just need the right combination of preparation and luck.
i used to be a rly hardcore boy group stan, but nmixx made me rly start liking girl groups too. i feel like it’s way more common for boy groups to have chaotic and unconventional elements in their music, like with stray kids and their “mala taste” style, but girl groups have always been more laid back. nmixx is the first girl group that has music like a boy group, if that makes any sense. i think jyp got the idea for nmixx’s music concept from stray kids’ unique style tbh.
The one who make NMIXX seems controvertial is the HATERS WHO CANT find any bad thing about NMIXX, they are PERFECT, ALL ROUNDER, ann NEVER EVER LIPSYNC. Thats why all haters can do is saying nmixx copy this and that, even its NOT AT ALL, their concept is ALICE IN WONDERLAND, kpop fan need to calm and stop thinking that their idol is the ‘first’ in everything
Honestly I love the dice People just hating them because they are not making the typical in music in girl group I don't want that stupid and repeatative things That's why i respect them
i can appreciate the art and the work that goes into it. these girls are clearly talented and are putting in so much work. i just cannot, cannot, for the life of me, handle all the random switch ups in the song lmao. it just....it just doesn't work for me. i could watch the video a few times, but i could never add the songs to a playlist. unfortunate, but that's just how i feel haha. great video, jordan!
personally, as a music student and someone interested in editing, I love this kind of music and video so much it's not that it doesn't make sense it is just a different way of portraying meaning, i love it.
If an abstract painting became a Kpop group, NMIXX is that - Jordan Orme No wonder I love them so much, I love abstract painting and I'm open to every genre out there
Nmixx are one of the most hardworking groups, they went through lots of hard times and problems but they made it and got to debut as the beautiful group they are . Their music might be new and does not appeal to everyone but it's not a reason to hate them, if you don't like them just keep your opinion and don't spread hate.
I’m not sure about others but from pre-debut promos I’ve watched these girls grow!!! Not an NSWER (I’m a ONCE) but I really enjoy NMIXX’s ability to adapt to differing concepts easily. That’s probably how they were trained for and that’s really rare in 4th gen groups. So sad when Jinni had to leave but at the end of the day I pray she’s alright 🙏🏻 Rooting for NMIXX until they finally get to ITZY’s or TWICE’s level ❤
I hope they keep pursuing this type of music, i dont dislike O.O but i definitelly like Dice alot more, the music transition is just so much better. These girls are one of the best performers in their generation, after seeing their special stages its clear that their songs belongs to the big stages. Hope people keep praising them,
i dont stan nmixx but love listening to them, their songs are perfect for someone like me who gets bored easily and they have the talent to make it sound incredible, especially live. makes it soooo entertaining. love that ur respecting the idea that this is just a different type of art that ppl either like or not. art is art
Take the safe path, you wont get remembered or recognized, just like the rest of kpop groups. JYP is doing the right thing. Brave and different. It gets all the needed attention, it fuels conversation.
9:50 i guess THIS CHOREOGRAPHY (spinning around quickly as if they r trying to break their necks) comes from the move meant of CHESHIRE CAT when he’s gonna disappear in the air ☁️
the intro was so good but nobody seemed to talk about it, i feel like it was one of the best intros ive seen and thats saying something when ive seen so many music videos, very underrated but it was probably my favorite intro
Hey! Theory about the video and what all the animals and symbols mean: The song 'Dice' is almost like the explanation for their previous songs, sort of like why and what they all mean and the game/dimensions they're in. The symbols are all from their previous songs because it's all from the 'game'. The ships, jellyfish, and dominoes for example were from O.O and the differnet places they were running through. The main point of Dice is the joker, how whenever that card got played down tons of unpredictable stuff happened and they were thrown into different rooms and worlds. It's sort of just a whole explanation for whst NMIXX is and where they're going, basically their origin story! It explains why they were so scared of the cats (im assuming they reference the joker cat) too because then the world starts changing! Thid is all my opinion though, not 100% sure but the lyrics and effects sort of match up with the other videos!! :D
Jordan I never had thought we would have the same reaction on it the intro I had my jaw drop just like you and at the card scene I was like Alice and you said that at the same time and more but that's enough how relatable you want to be!?
i honestly really like nmixx for being so "random" in this mv. it's a circus alice in wonderland like concept, and there are also some references to early cinema in here. it's similar to the "cinema of attraction" (when movies were purely made to be a spectacle and the movies themselves were spectacles because it was still very new). i understand why some people don't like it and it's a very fine line between fun and too messy, but i think they're walking the line perfectly in this song/mv.
I think going for the "abstract art" music vibe was a pretty good marketing strategy on JYP's side. Even though it generates a ton of haters, it gains a ton of views too. And weird music will always bring in ride or die fans that like it purely for being weird. The girls might not be super liked right now, but I highly doubt they're going away soon. Plus it's not like their concept is any more abstract than much of Red Velvet's music and mvs. Hearing that they have a ton of haters was news to me, but it's kpop, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.
Isn't he the first one to give them the title "worlds most controversial kpop group" ??!? Because no. Nmixx is not the world's most controversial group just because some people don't enjoy their music doesn't mean everyone hates it. I don't even stan this group but I'm sick of people criticising them for no reason. I miss the time where people enjoyed all kpop songs without hating on a group for not hitting their expectations.
Tru, nmixx was just hated because it is the trend to hate them. Ppl doesn't really have enough reference to hate them. Plus, I've had enough seeing comments like "hope jype will give them GOOD song" like what's their basis or criteria to label one's song bad right? And why would jype risk their name and label to something bad? It's a business afterall so they knew what's going on.
Being the most controversial group doesn't mean everyone hates it. Quite the contrary - if everyone hates it it isn't controversial, it's well decided by everyone that it is bad. The fact you are sick of people criticising them for no reason means they are controversial. Controversial is by far the best way to describe how people in general feel about NMIXX and I don't think any group is as controversial (as far as their songs go).
@@MarcosSilva-bl6vu yeah exactly what I was thinking. also he pointed them out as world's most controversial KPOP group and not most controversial group in general so idk why people are mad about it 😅
Expecting people to “enjoy all kpop songs without criticism” is the problem. Everyone doesn’t have to like every song or music video, people are welcome to their opinions.
imo it the mv makes perfect sense, cuz what they wanna represent is a chaotic world all over the place. It doesn’t lack structure, it’s very structure is chaos itself
I haven't made an attempt to figure it out yet but they had a rules of play video where they explained the roles of each member in a game they're playing which is evident in the mv where they use cards and things like pawns on the board
honestly i love dice. i had to grow to like o.o after a few listens, but i liked dice from the first listen. while it's not perfect it's fun and i love the different parts. however i do hope that one day jype gives nmixx a song with a more simple structure like thier bside cool (your rainbow) which is AMAZING
8:57 “What is minus 1 from None?” If I’ll think of this in a musical sense, the answer could either be vocals/a cappella or an instrumental version of something. In music, a “minus one” is known as the instrumental background music of a track, and assuming that “None” is a proper noun (it’s capitalised), it could either be a hint to a future a cappella/vocal-focused song entitled “None” or a reference to O.O (“oh-oh” is how you read zero-zero too so none-none) but some form of instrumental remix (“minus 1 FROM None”). A bit of a long shot I guess, but what can we expect from NMIXX when they come out with Dice that mixes genres almost ala-Englishman In New York style.
I completely love their concept because it lets us escape from the reality. It is soooo dreamy and sort of pure madness that it doesn’t seem real. Is always a trip to watch their music videos and to listen to their music. I like it beeing everything but stable 😅
I really expect the initial people who hated on NMIXXs debut will feel differently this time around. Dice had a MUCH smoother and well made transition between genres. Listened to the song alone and it feels full and not disjointed like O.O initially did on the first listen.
I'm a recent fan and when I first listened I wasn't into it. But playing the album after listening to thr song I liked(Cool), it grew on me. This art is awesome to me now and has mesmerized me and has watch their live performance and has my jaw dropping for being able to perform live in a world of lipsync. Also they are performing songs that are not the norm. I think a certain niche of people will relate to the uniqueness of their style.
Honestly, I LOVE how unpredictable their songs are. O.O sounded like an absolute mess to me at first but the more I heard it the more I fell in love with it. Same with dice :)
I personally feel like it’s a case of “you’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t”, because with Jordan saying humans tending to like and gravitate towards structure, and I definitely agree, but then I’ve also heard many people saying how much they dislike NMIXX’s concepts and musicality at the same time. On the other hand, with BLACKPINK, I’ve additionally heard numerous listeners and even BLINKS saying that BLACKPINK songs are now too repetitive and following the exact same structure every time and that there are no noticeable changes, further proving my reasoning that I think many Kpop groups should be trying to find a happy medium of very extravagant and dull, repetitive and indifferent music. It’s quite hard to please everyone, in fact, probably impossible unless something truly is a unanimously agreed on masterpiece, so it will be quite tough and challenging, but that’s my little TEDTalk on my very opinionated views lol…
as a die hard YG stan and a lowkey SM stan, there's nothing i want more than experimental noise fucking music so when i heard about JYP's plan for NMIXX i was immediately hooked! i checked out all of their covers, music and performances but it didn't quite get me as much as i want to which is weird because like i said this is my shit! i gave it some thought and i think the reason why i'm not that fond of their music is because it doesn't showcase their skills and talents well. i know what they're capable of especially in the vocal department. so for me, the problem doesn't lie with the genre of music they chose to do but with the execution. there's a lot of groups out there that does mix genre and it works for them. NMIXX and their team just needs to find a song that works for them and hopefully, i'm there when it happens 🥰💓
Interesting take. I actually "stan" this group, but just like O.O it left my brain a mess on first few listens. Took a day or two away, then checked their dance and lives and suddenly my brain gets the mixed "structure." I also thought it did not showcase their strengths based on the mv, but their live performances told me otherwise. It's nice touch as well to see the lyrics incorporate the expected response from the masses. In the end, I'm glad theyre trying to do "new" stuff for a jype gg even though we've all seen this with bohemian rhapsody and SM songs.
I don't care, I like their songs. Actually sometimes I feel some kpop songs are just the same, good or bad, it just feels nice to have something fresh!
Their musics are incredibly well organized and simple though they might seem complete chaos. Change the moods in every 15seconds and drop the killong part at 1:00. And then keep chainging every 15 seconds. Its just so simple.
i dont think jordan noticed but 9:50 is actually a transition where they "appear" to be spinning their entire front body but it is actually just two seperate shots combined. i found that reallly cool
8:54 "1 minus 1 is none, what is minus 1 from none"
the answer is "N" by removing the word "one" from "None", which is basically a reference to the group's name Nmixx, I think that's a really cool riddle
TYSM, i genuinely had no idea what it could mean!! Really cool riddle indeed ♡

Wow
The was the riddle from Rules of Play video, right?
@@atlasschmatlas6426 yes! the riddle haewon answered.
NMIXX might be the first kpop group to have ''Dadaism'' as their concept and honestly its pretty cool
omg... yes
Oh yeah, Dadaism is even messier and more of a nonsense than abstract art. I agree it's pretty cool tbh
What is dadaism ?
@@lazyg7218 It's an art movement that started in Europe and centered around "nonsense" and "irrationality" in response to WWI. It was supposed to be making fun of the traditional conventions of art and those who would be offended by the refusal to follow them. Dadaism has an intentionally stupid name and crazy visuals to drive this point home, but funnily enough, it started to become popular. It's a brilliant concept for NMIXX--just a matter of learning how to balance the craziness
@@enajem cool
Just so you know, abstract art often still has structure though things like line, color, shape, theme, and even texture. So yeah, humans really like structure, even our “unstructured” abstract art is quite structured. But some people don’t like it because they can’t see that structure (or they dislike that structure) and that’s totally okay! It doesn’t make abstract art lovers better or any different from people who don’t like abstract art! Our brains just all process things differently and enjoy things differently and it’s okay!

Love this! ❤
Their line distribution is almost perfect rn so problem solved
yeah people nowadays dosent get that everygroup needs to be distict with one another *coughs* yg *coughs* babymonster
tbh i don’t understand why people act like fans can’t genuinely enjoy nmixx i don’t fully enjoy it but i can totally appreciate it i think o.o was a bit of a shock but the way this mv and the lyrics play out really explains what nmixx is all about, this is definitely a very creative group
ikr like why people always said that people who really enjoy their music are just "lying" and said they're force themselves to love the song 🙃 like, there's also a really bad kpop song out there imo and nmixx's isn't the "worst"
I enjoy it..like why you think that i'm ACTING i honestly like it, my ults are nmixx and skz
@@blooming-celestial I thought I'm the only one getting annoyed by the "lying" when a listener was enjoying. Also, they're getting crossing the line, to be honest
And, if they hate nmixx (with or without reason) why can't just IGNORE them.
If you say you like o.o very much. You'd be called out by dozens of people saying that your taste is really bad as if we can't say the same to them
honestly NMIXX’s concepts are chaotic in the best way possible, I’ve been LOVING the switch-ups in the songs because they’re such a change from the 20 years of music I’ve been listening to and their concepts are just so fun!!!
I hope NMIXX and JYPE will pursue this kind of music genre. We all know there's always time for improvement. Trying things outside the box doesn't equate for perfection in the first tries. They will master this soon enough.
indeed!!💯
Yes lets look at the brighter side.
It's musically pretty cohesive. These kinds of of music has been there for a long time in the music industry. Kpop is not ready for NMIXX
@@Blaze72sHI know this genre is already executed in kpop. I am trying to say that the company, being not recognized for this music taste and being not well used to in this music prod, can still master this soon enough if they are really trying to pursue this track for nmixx. Nothing is impossible in trying, honey.
@@ishicake I don't think the company's goal is to be perfectionist tbh.
Jype does a lot of experiments on Nmixx, from outfits to music genres. I hope these girls get the shine like they deserve soon.
Honestly i feel like nmixx is a designated experimental gg in cute concept-ish, much like in my opinion aespa is for sm’s girl crush concept

@Jelly Bear Ik, but their music is so experimental and mid.. I hope they get more releases like this one
People actually liked Dice a lot! Nmixx is finally charting and trending in korea in the top 10 and around the world!
True, it's charting stable
Exactly what I thought honestly
Hmmm if the cat from TTT's Twice is connected, maybe the villain on their story was the cats?
Actually there's also a theory that O.O and DICE are connected, and it kinda makes sense for me....

That is why they are called nmixx , it is a mix of genre and that's what I love about nmixx.
My prediction is that NMIXX is going to continue this theme until we fully see them with an aquatic/underwater concept in a future comeback.
cool
Interesting
Read ateez's treasure series's lore... What nmixx is doing is a complete rip-off. The description of their debut album on melon is basically word for word ateez's spoken intros/outros and lyrics put together.
I think that the pirate ship refers to the ship we see behind the girls at the beginning of O.O mv
I think they are traveling to mixxtopia on a ship which is why their last single was "to the sea"
I really love mashups and mixed kinds of music and sometimes I even listen to fanmade kpop mashups more than its original songs, and NMIXX music feeds my musical cravings that I believe no one will ever understand. Like Jordan says, it is like abstract in visual arts but in kpop.

Also I wouldn't say they're that controversial. From my experience most people dislike their songs but even people who love their songs understand why they are disliked. Because it's obviously on purpose that their music is the way it is (unappealing to most audiences). This is just experimental.

All i know is I love their music and idc what they say about them. Period.
i used to be a rly hardcore boy group stan, but nmixx made me rly start liking girl groups too. i feel like it’s way more common for boy groups to have chaotic and unconventional elements in their music, like with stray kids and their “mala taste” style, but girl groups have always been more laid back. nmixx is the first girl group that has music like a boy group, if that makes any sense. i think jyp got the idea for nmixx’s music concept from stray kids’ unique style tbh.
Great point about structure and people’s need for structure in music.

Nmixx are one of the most hardworking groups, they went through lots of hard times and problems but they made it and got to debut as the beautiful group they are . Their music might be new and does not appeal to everyone but it's not a reason to hate them, if you don't like them just keep your opinion and don't spread hate.
they're literally describing Wonderland... and the cat is actually Cheshire... and in Wonderland, everything actually doesn't make sense.😏👌
1. NMIXX's amazing vocals.
2. NMIXX's amazing lightstick.
3. NMIXX's amazing songs.
the intro was so good but nobody seemed to talk about it, i feel like it was one of the best intros ive seen and thats saying something when ive seen so many music videos, very underrated but it was probably my favorite intro
Hey! Theory about the video and what all the animals and symbols mean:
The song 'Dice' is almost like the explanation for their previous songs, sort of like why and what they all mean and the game/dimensions they're in.
@@MarcosSilva-bl6vu yeah exactly what I was thinking. also he pointed them out as world's most controversial KPOP group and not most controversial group in general so idk why people are mad about it 😅
But peope didn’t criticise the girls. People are criticising jype for giving them horrible songs
Actually people who like this concept are loving this comeback
I appreciate you Jordan. Your positivity and excellent analysis are shining here.
Dice is complicated song i think, but the more complicated the more i like LOL
I haven't made an attempt to figure it out yet but they had a rules of play video where they explained the roles of each member in a game they're playing which is evident in the mv where they use cards and things like pawns on the board
V.P.N's new meaning had me rolling like a "DICE"👁️👄👁️
honestly i love dice. i had to grow to like o.o after a few listens, but i liked dice from the first listen. while it's not perfect it's fun and i love the different parts. however i do hope that one day jype gives nmixx a song with a more simple structure like thier bside cool (your rainbow) which is AMAZING
8:57 “What is minus 1 from None?”
If I’ll think of this in a musical sense, the answer could either be vocals/a cappella or an instrumental version of something.
Tbh nmixx is one of my favourite groups. I love their concept how creative they are don't have just one concept. I frikin' love them. Queens 🖤💜
10:53
Bro was checking nmixx's comeback and then turned into and explained a whole science situation
9:14 it doesn’t need to make sense, it needs to make money
The clip represents entropy: Specifically systems becoming disordered by entropic forces (specifically probability and weather)
2:15 BRO BEAT BOXING???!🤣🤣
i dont think jordan noticed but 9:50 is actually a transition where they "appear" to be spinning their entire front body but it is actually just two seperate shots combined. i found that reallly cool
