I know this is a bit of an old video, but THANK YOU for making a "beginner" tutorial that is ACTUALLY for beginners! I tried watching at least a half dozen other "beginner" videos prior to finding this that were throwing out terms I had never even heard left and right two mins into the video. Excellent tutorial for someone who isn't trying to be a Colorist (didn't know these existed until today lol) and just wants to do simple corrections to their videos. I also loved the preemptive strike on the trolls at the beginning!

I hate watching videos of so called pros claiming to be doing a tutorial when in reality all they are doing is showing off their skills. You watch their videos seen that something was done but don't have any idea of what the hell that something was by the end of it. Appreciate the stellar video my guy.

I run a Magic The Gathering Channel called Impolite MTG, thus far, i've gotten away with just doing slides of cards and learning to animate them using Edit and tiptoeing into Fushion where my ancient PC allows me. Today I decided to film myself opening some cards for the first time. I opened the color page for the first time today as well and I was hit with the realization that I had ABSOLUTELY...NO...CLUE what I was doing, but then like usual, I came to youtube typed in Davinci Resolve color tutorial, and of course you had a video on it.
Thank you so much Casey. your videos have really helped me grasp DA. You make the best tutorials on this platform because you explain the interface and the concepts of what the point is. You're the man!

Hey Casey...this was the first time I'm touching color correction AND Davinci...coming from a lifetime Adobe user. Man, you are awesome breaking it down how you do. Made everything seem so simple. Related it to my other design work in photoshop, made perfect sense and understanding the principals on how/why you color correct in the 1st place and that was awesome. I'm downloading Davinci right now and using you to teach me how to do all of this on a production level. Such a great experience and I'm looking forward to learning more!

Holy cow....now I know exactly what the color wheels do now....for the life of me i did not understand...and then you come along and explain them in a way that no one else has. FFS you need to make more videos. Do 1 for "basic color correction" (you did this one) 2. intermediate color correction and 3. advanced color correction. you just won a subscriber.

Perfect video for beginners. I'm a photographer color grading my first video. I went in and just adjusted the things I understood: shadows, highlights, tempurature, contrast... it wasn't as effective as I hoped and I ended up with weird green lines across some of my footage. Then I watch one video where he was talking about file formats and layers, but not explaining the basics. I need to quickly get video out for a small non profit so they can do some fundraising for a 4WD vehicle to deliver aid to Ukrainians in villages that are hard to reach due to bombed out roads. I don't need advanced cinematic color grading, I just need quick corrections. This video is perfect. Thanks!

Watched several other videos on color grading in Resolve before this one and while each was somewhat helpful, they uniformly glossed over a lot of the basics for those of us who have never done it. You explain things intelligently without coming across as condescending. It's a fine line and you seem to do it well.

Typically someone says "basic" and then goes into these in depth things that when I try to do it along with them, my video ends up looking like a 2 year old got ahold of the color dials. Same here. I've been using Photoshop for years and always dabbled with contrast/saturation but the way he explained Lift, Gamma, Gain was life changing lol

Amazing! I've been doing blackboard style videos for the past couple of months now and one thing that always bothered me was the black wasn't black and the colors just didn't stand out. Thank you for teaching me new tools to up my game!

Thanks for this simple explanation. I've edited two other small projects. On each one I just used a filter and adjusted that. This time, I'm actually going to use color correction. Thanks again.

What you have done here that is very useful is to explain the aim of what we want to achieve. The simple explanation of wanting things that are white to look white etc., was the missing link for me. Thank you 🙏🏽 so much.
