Public hunting a sled is a game changer. Also a spool of paracord. Can make a blind or a primitive jerk rig or even a bird tote. Great call on the dry bag!
I've been using hearing protection for all of my hunting adventures for years, and i totally recommend everyone use hearing protection while hunting. The sound levels of the duck calls I use are very high pitched which can also cause hearing loss.
That pretty well nailed it. Only thing I try to keep in my bag at all time is extra batteries for head lamp and those body warmers. They are great if your hands or feet get wet on accident or there’s a kid in the group and u see him/her getting cold. Maybe a lighter in ziplock just in case. Might save your life if you wreck boat and fall in water and will be several hours before your missed.
as usual, you got me smiling waiting for fall. a few additions to the list: 1. license - our state now has everything virtual, but always good to have a backup paper copy for no signal areas. 2.first-aid kit - sucks bleeding when the birds are flying 3.TP - dude, where's that corn row? 4.Multi-tool - I have taken apart my whole trigger assembly in the field with my Leatherman. so glad to have had that. regarding the headlamp, if you know the area, keep your lights off and enjoy the sounds of the morning. regarding the duck lanyard, in a pinch, tie up some decoy line. in boca al lupo a tutti! ciao.
Sigh...you grab the bird by its head and Bill. "Wind it up". The body spins and breaks the birds neck, it flaps, and dies pretty fast. You don't need a tool.
@@gabehurst8604 I think it's a bit less wasteful than the one time use hand warmer. Also way more reliable. I'm in Washington so I'm in the cold and rain most hunts.
Yep I learned that yesterday lol I’m getting into waterfowl this year at 26 and after setting my decoys up in the snow, with rain, my hands were miserable the rest of the morning lol
Step one call your game warden and ask. When I called mine, he said “All you need is 3 calculators and lawyer.” Funniest comment on how confusing some of these regulations can be.
problem is you cant buy your hearing back, Budget would be the howard lieght impact sports. I have a set and use them for waterfowl hunting and they are great for what you pay. They do become uncomfortable when wearing them for long periods of time and do pick up noise from the wind but if you can get past that they are awesome.
I use the walkers silencer R600 and I love them. These aren't the bluetooth model but are rechargeable. Wouldnt recommend the battery ones. I think they were like $125 from Midway but found them for $120 for the bluetooth. 3 sizes of ear pieces, sound great, amplify an shut down the sound when it's too loud.
in europe 3M peltor sporttac is the most common. Works great and you are less likely to loose those those than the in-ear. I litterally drove over mine with a tractor and they were fine! Uses AA or AAA batteries and they last several seasons on a charge.
New video name "5 things that are nice to have when duck hunting." Gun/shells, wadders, 12 decoys, warm clothes, and some kind of hide are all that is really needed.
once i hunted in public land and it was a long walk and had 5 geese that i shot, i took my jacket off put them inside the coat, zipped it closed then i put my gun through the coat and walked out with my coat tied around my gun like a hobo sack, some times you gotta improvise
Southern Lite LED. expensive but you get what you pay for. it’s like a spot light. chargeable batteries. i’ve dropped mine in the water 10 or more times and it’s still good

I nice set of binoculars help spot birds when you sail one out of the spread. I use them to see if the birds dropped or wounded

Have you ever used the old school hand warmer?
Uses lighter fluid. Probably my favorite item for outdoor activities in the cold/winter.
NW Woodsman yeah but they kinda waste fluid if your hunt ends before your fluid runs out

How about a video on waterfoul regulations for dummies or how to be a good public land hunter.
Step one call your game warden and ask. When I called mine, he said “All you need is 3 calculators and lawyer.” Funniest comment on how confusing some of these regulations can be.
