Same. The concept of special moves such as “charging back then forward plus punch” is out of this world. How can the same directional buttons when pressed for different periods and order result to different moves? How can the computer tell you’re not just crouching or walking but really doing something else

Microsoft owns the franchise started by the game ranked at #27, which is known for its difficulty. It has a fanservicy female villain. The difficulty was toned down for its later Japanese release, which served as the basis for the Sega Genesis version.
I'm from the UK so I missed out on a lot of great games in the 80s and 90s . I'm playing catch up now with a lot. I'm glad they re released some games like Chrono Trigger, Mario RPG and the older Final Fantasy games.
I've played a little of some of those and loved them. I used to play Phantasy Star online on Dreamcast a lot. Some good times. Any other games or years you would like to see me cover?

The fact that you put arguably the greatest arcade game of all time at #4 on the best games of 91, LITERALLY just made your credibility go down the drain like a Biden debate.
Credibility isn't really important to me. I just pop in my favourites as I see them. I actually preferred the later versions of Street Fighter II, especially Turbo on the SNES. I'm sorry I've seemed to upset you with my list though. 😔
Did Super Soccer just make the top 40 of _all_ games released in 1991? Oh I just translated what you meant by "ranked". You are going on your own _personal_ experience. Also only Mega Drive and SNES.
@@GamesByYear as for soccer games (or football as we like to call it), Super Soccer isn't very high on my list. But for 1991, I honestly don't know. Was FIFA out at least?
@iwanttocomplain Fifa was 93 if I remember right. I did prefer that and Sensible Soccer over Super Soccer but it would have been my favourite football game for that year.
@iwanttocomplain lots of good folk have been sharing their favourites and giving me recommendations, so I guess these lists will change over time as I discover/remember other great games.
When I saw SF2 for the first time in 1991, blew my 10 year old mind. It had me fetching quarters all day tryna play it.
Same here. I remember it being such a big deal when it came to the Super Nintendo. I was definitely excited to play it at home for the first time.

Sonic game of the year

Mortal Kombat, TMNT TIT(lol) SOR2 the best beat em up ever! But Midnight Resistance?! I was obsessed with this game and the music!
Good old nostalgia ❤
It's a powerful force. Keeps me coming back to these games.
Love it when you do these big lists. I counted that I’ve only played 19 of them 🤦🏻♂️

I was obsessed with Midnight Resistance on MD. The arcade controls were to loose and difficult to aim right.
I don't think it released where I am originally so I didn't get to play it until it came to Evercade. One of my favourites on the Mega Drive now.
