Thanks for the video!.. I've had doorbells: Ring, Eufy, Arlo, and they all have horrible intercom latency, sometimes up to 2 secs. How is the intercom latency on this Tapo?

Good tutorial, even if missing some key issues as pointed out below. What is a bit thoughtless in the design is the alarm feature. Surely anyone who would try to steal the doorbell would remove the battery immediately as it is not secured in any way.
At 27:10, you need to remove the unit from the mount before the battery so the alarm will always trigger first

I bought one of these doorbell and I can confirm that the image quality is great.
My only problem is that I can't make the Tapo app to show me notification for video call when the bell is pressed.
It will show the notification when the Tapo app is open, but does not show it when the phone is locked.
Maybe you can confirm if it works for you. Thank you again for a well made review.
I don't have that kind of problem, maybe you need to enable other types of notification from your smartphone.from the app you have all the notifications on?
@@TechGuruAndrew thank you for the quick reply. Good to know that it works. All the notifications are on and works when the app is open, but not when is in the background. I like Tapo/TP-Link products so I want to use this doorbell. I'll fiddle with the app. The customer support from Tapo is very bad though.

@@alexdigodi7481 nope. I sent it back. Technical support said that it's not meant to work like that. What I can tell you is that I have a nest doorbell and it does not ring the phone either
Hello, does the hub need to be near the camera? Does the camera directly connect to the hub or thru wifi? As I plan to put the hub far from the doorbell (100-150 meters away) so i don't know if the camera can connect to the hub. Although they would still be in the same wifi network because I have an outdoor wifi AP.

...but, I can't seem to have the doorbell video call work with having to have all the notification on as "always". I'm sure there should be a way where the video call and detection/notification can be separated? If someone is at my door during the day and presses the doorbell, I wont receive the call unless I have all the notifications on which make me have tons of notifications. Any tip on this? Thanks

Do I HAVE to use the batteries or can it be wired as well?
I have a battery powered Ring device that shows a delay in notification which normally means I've missed the call. I was hoping this Tapo device would be better. You claim this device is instant however looking at the time stamps that is clearly not the case. Additionally your clock appear to loose 7 seconds jumping from 15:10:24 to 15:10:32. Are you sponsored by Tapo/TP-Link?
The doorbell connects to the wifi antenna or to the hub? Do we need to have the hub close to the doorbell?
Hi, thank you for the video. Can it accept multiple mobile devices to access the doorbell? Intend to use in office so it would be good if multiple people can access the video.
As regards the SD card files with video but no sound. I had the video but no audio problem with Neos mp4 camera files when using windows media players. When I used Vlc the video played and the audio as well, fine. Maybe the poster should try Vlc to play the SD card clips.

Hi, for the Tapo smart doorbell. Can I disable the chime, and only get phone notification when someone rings the door? So as to not disturb my family members when sleeping/studying.

Vivd quality outdoors, i mention on my video closer at the camera better the quality,at the feature i will upload a video,all notifications are coming indoor or on LTE NETWORK,i didn't face any problems,i will post if anything wrongs.thanks

Hi, I've just installed 1 of these. When motion is detected, I only get notifications on my phone, the hub doesn't make any sound. How do I get sound on the hub for motion ( in case my phone is offline)
For the anti-theft alarm part, the thief can just remove the battery. Not a smart solution.

Yes you need take the tapo care if you want see the clips video playback and memory partition... only memory card you dont get anything...

The review isn't thorough enough.. What about using it in the dark? How is the battery taken out? How do you setup the chime? Does the chime do custom ringtone? How do you link the chime to the doorbell? Does the doorbell work with Amazon?

I have this doorbell and whilst it's good a MASSIVE flaw is the fact the doorbell button doesn't have a light around it and MANY times people press the wrong things and as a result have caved in the second black circle which I assume is the IR sensor. How EVERYBODY at Tapo overlooked this MASSIVE flaw is beyond me, that's the first thing I would have pointed out to them if I worked there, unbelievable really.

The bell is the hub.
Using a rechargeable battery for the camera is a dumb design. If you're charging your device, its now render useless for a few hrs. Replaceable batteries are more feasible for the application
