- Note: We are through the main lore dumps now across the factions, so lore video are likely to become shorter until some bigger projects are finished.
Trench Crusade is an upcoming skirmish game designed by artist Mike Franchina, sculptor James Sheriff, and former Games Workshop designer Tuomas Pirinen (He who made Mordheim).
In this video, I go through the available lore on the Trench Crusade Timeline. This is everything we have to date, from official sources, at least.

Thanks for advancing the mapping effort, because darned if I'm not confused as to how 1/3 of the world's population is under Jer-hell-salem's rule here.
Correction: The iron wall refers to the self-repairing iron wall built by the king Dhul-Qarnain (Translates to "The one with two horns"), mentioned in the Quran, built to keep the ravenous population of Gog and Magog from the rest of the world, we don't know what they are exactly (most likely human) but they sound pretty bad.
I'm a bit confused as to how the walls works in TC though, whether the Iron Sultanate is located to in front of the wall, or behind it, if they're behind it, where did Gog and Magog go? Because they ARE mentioned in the lore.
@@THExRISER hmm interesting, what if they combined both concepts? would be great if thats the case.
Edit: checked some wikipedia and yeah, is already related to alexander (Iskandar) lore, would work perfectly.
@@ShadowFri3nd That's one interpretation, and and a heavily contested one, but yeah TC can make it work.
@@THExRISERGog & Magog, as used in the setting, appears to refer to the heretic infested lands in the levant & the area beyond the gate to hell.
The church has a space program?!
LOOKS LIKE THE 40K MEMES ARE BACK ON THE TABLE!!!!
Gotta get to God somehow!
We were made in gods image! We were born to inherit the stars.
That makes sense considering religion and astrology was always two rooms in the same house
RL Jesuits have quantum physicists.
Byzantium fell, but freakin Vlad Tepes held the line. Cool. Absolute mad lad there.
"Church Space Program." Nice...
The Heretic plan of "we don't really care if we end up on spikes" kinda falls apart when they run into a chap with a serious spike surplus. lol
This inspired the army I'm making called The Order of the Dragon who are very enthusiastic about demon shish kabobs
I mean what would you expect from the Crimson F@cker himself? Tbh I thought he would have sent death threats to the Pope via carrier pigeon instead.
If I remember correctly, Vlad actually had a good relationship with the catholic church, helped defending them, and he even got the title of "the monster of god", so I love the idea of the heretics and demons just breaking thru and invading the land, thinking they are the most powerful and terrifying things in existence, but then getting stop by a monster that was not born in hell, and yet, the heavens call his name.
Vlad: "Oh, what joy to relish, a victim that does not perish."
The heretics and demons: *high pitch scream*
I hope vlad tepes later appears in trench crusade as an holy vampire
Fortress of Alamut being besieged for hundreds of years:
I'm still standin' (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I can't wait for Hell to start it's own space program, so we can get Helldivers!
NASU.
Just wanna let you know that trench crusade seems so promising and you are my favorite trench crusade creator
I hope to know how the people of the Americas feature in this world. Did Spain make it to the americas? Do they worship their own pantheon or become catholic? Wouldn’t it be badass if the Mexico had a standing army of desperado ghost men half caught between life and death to reflect the mix of native and colonial cultures?
Depends if the forces of hell ever got there first. Considering thr church made a freaking space program by the time of the current setting thr American continents were almost certainly known to both sides and either relatively powerful from not fighting on the front lines and acting as the US did in the early stages of wwI or completely overrun/ desperately resisting. Ghost desperado corps is an awesome idea
I wonder if Spain even exists, like it was still Al-Andalus in 1099, and with literal demons about a reconquista might not be as likely
Probably but the chances are slim. Considering that it focuses only in Europe Africa and Middle East (Probably). There is a chance that the main factions focusses only in fighting in Europe and colonization didn't occur the way we know now. Or probably most of Asia and America may be under hell's domain.
@@DreadBirateYeah probably it is a part of the Sultanate Faction.
@@justarandomyoutubeviewer2749 well the sultanate started with the Sultanate of Rum, so while I assume it’s a lot bigger than that was historically I would be Suprised if the wall was around there.
“Church space program” gives me vampire hunter d vibes
WTF did they mean by "taken by God" and Church Space program ?
Space Pope.
Church space Program is close enough to selx explanatory, bit "taken by God"? Yeah no idea about that
On god tho I wanna know too
God came down and solo’d the entire army of hell I guess. Extremely based if you ask me.
@ronpaul5319 quite based, my good sir
I just love that Antioch is functionally the Cadia of this universe
Everyone is psyched for the church space program but what about hells navy!? Gargantuan black submarines boiling the ocean around them while lovecraftian demons from the infernal oceans swirl around them waiting to devour any poor soul not immediately incinerated by the hellfire torpedoes.
Wish we got more on the iron sultanate
I've got a 20 minute vid on the specifics of The Iron Sultanate here, if you haven't seen it yet. - th-cam.com/video/1M1PNGw6-gs/w-d-xo.html
I really like the idea of the Christian factions being more specialised in mechanized warfare while the muslim factions specialise in whats basically bio-engineering.
@@jacejackson5253it would have made more sense historically if Christendom was the one with the impregnable fortress, since Constintanople was exactly that, and was only taken due to the growing use to new siege cannons. In this timeline the city most likely got wiped out, but it makes less sense for the Sultanate, since Calliphates pretty much existed to conquer for Allah (since conquering your neighbours is what mohammaed did and is exactly what he preached- putting non believers to the sword etc etc. Assimilating others if they dont believe as you do is legitimately a tenet of that religion after all) but I dont really mind since its easy reasoning why theyre completley defensive in this setting
@@jacejackson5253 Mashallah. I love that we have our approaches to warfare. I would gladly have my Brazen Bull than mechanized infantry.
Well... this lore sounds mental and detailed and full of potential for insane alt history! I'm gonna get some sprues to kitbash my own unit for this setting! :D
Also the Moving Fortress of Britannia? I'd love to know more!
So does this mean that we could have the "Order of the dragon" as a faction with Vlad Tepes as a leader or founder?
The implication is that he is something of a powerhouse right now. I'm gonna assume that his level of viciousness would prove to be an incredibly useful weapon. Zero hesitation whatsoever in doing what needed to be done to to win.
Wouldn't he be several hundred years old? I guess old man hassan is immortal so one more man with pseudo immortality isn't that far fetched
I would not be surprised that if his Meta-Christ infusion made hum a vampire...
@@Jamhael1something about being completely reliant on the blood of christ?
What does the air war look like?
Hellish most likely.
This needs a map
Keep it up ! Love your videos!
Cheers, talking Pineapple!
I wonder how Asian part of Eurasia doing
I want to know about the Hebrew knights
Yeah me too. They came out of literally nowhere and took out a bunch of knight crusaders? Why on the earth would they do that, and HOW?
"Next year in Jerusalem" just got a whole lot more ominous.
I see Alucard is doing his thing. 😊
Does the New World factor in to the TC universe at all yet?
good vid
I've got to wonder where the Americas fits into all this, or most modern countries actually. Does the holy Roman empire still exist?
Yeah, the Holy Roman Empire is still there, they are still very much the center of the Church. For the Americas, all we really know right now is that the British Empire never got there because they became extremely insular, forced to lean into the defensive advantages of being an island after they lost their fleet to traitors.
@@scannerbarkly So they are no Americans, that might be the best part of this Alternate universe
I think Europe was so concernend with its survival that they never discovered America
@@francopereyra6659 No Americans in that time line and demons are present. hmmm. make ya think.
@@francopereyra6659probably not.
Very interesting lore. If you redo this video or add to it would you add a map so we could see what territories who has cuz it sounds like the heretics are spread out all over the place
The devs are working on a "world state" map right now, not sure when it will be done. :)
I'll be honest mate, when I saw the 3 minute unskippable ad for a 6 minute video I turned off.
Has fuck all to do with me, dude. My monetization is set to show skippable ads, or people who do get an unskippable ad will never get anything longer than up to 30 seconds depending on their regional standards. If you got a 3 minute unskippable ad, then you are either running something that fucked with you Skip button loading (lots of extensions can do this) OR TH-cam decided to beta your ass and subject you to that shit. Either way, fuck all to do with me. Next time you get a long-ass unskippable ad on something just reload the fucker and see if it fixes it, tbh.
@@scannerbarkly Have done mate, still there. Thought you may have some kind of ad setting that did it. It's an easy way to turn away potential viewers.
@@michaelgrey1351 Nah, we actualy don't really have that much control over the ads these days. It's really just a case of being saying yes or no to midroll, then they do whatever they want.
@@scannerbarkly That sucks. I shall power through them then.
Weird, i have never gotten such a long ad on TH-cam
What about ethiopia, tibet, india, japan, mongol empire etc ... Like what about shivaist holy men, like aghori, manifesting shiva himself, impervious to the powers of hell because what does hell have on shiva, or krsna fanatics marching to war with more musical instruments than weapons, tantric monk battle mages protecting the mountain fortress of tibet by casting devastating spells and summoning entities from a thousand OTHER hells, undead zen monks simply working theyr way trough heretic legions with just a walking stick, a 'great wall' from the arctic to the himalayas, etc ...
Can't wait for the Holy Order of the Dragon.
How come Rijeka of all places?
SO ANDALUSIA DOES EXIST WOO, ah and some
one explained the iron wall so the levant, Syria, Turkey, and some of the Balkans have fallen while the muslims still have most their land including Iraq up to the syrian border while Europe still has mainland.
Where does the creation of the paladins fall on the Time line?
engagement
Im so happy we have a faction of Muslims that isn't just a side thought.
One thing I don’t get is that if god really cared about the faithful humans then shouldn’t they have got raptured to heaven? Or is it that god wants the faithful humans to fight the heretics? It just seems weird how he’s condemned all of humanity to an absolute shit show just cause some Templars got corrupted by demons.
Is there any book and storyline like warhammer 40k about trench crusade?
It's a little new for books, sadly. I am hopeful that the rulebook will have additional lore, and I know that the Kickstarter is planned to have an art book that will likely contain additional lore for us too.
@@scannerbarklyI see great potential in this , it would be great if they start book stories back from crusade in jurusalem.
@@patriot5514goddamn why do all these new 40k fans automatically compare 40k with trench crusade
Why does all the cool stuff go through the worst bullshit
If you think a few people crying about a Discord is the worst bullshit then you have had a blessed life and need to watching less whiny fuckers on TH-cam, my dude.
@@scannerbarkly based man
@@scannerbarkly it's mostly that it's a bit of a sign things to come. I hope to be proven wrong but how long until the setting gets robed of everything that makes it remarkable and unique to make it fit for the modern mainstream audience that never had an interest in it to begin with.
@@williamverhagen5210 Brother, you are literally trying to find stuff to schedule in that you MIGHT get mad about in the future. You are living life wrong, focus on today and enjoy the good things.
