Yea, it took me a bit to click on some parts of it to the end there too, even though I had read everything out to that point. Unfortunately, he intends to have heavy involvement like that in all Cosmere books moving forward, so this will be the new norm.

Great review! I need to read this book again. I loved being with Wax and Wayne again but all the cosmere "tie in" felt like it hindered the storytelling. It felt like the end of Phase 3 and beginning of Phase 4 in the MCU. Too many things dropped into a story to be used later on.
Yea, and apparently that's what we can expect in all the Cosmere books moving forward, MCU-style cameos as opposed to the fun shoutouts we got to date. Much like the MCU, he's making it so you're forced to consume everything if you want to keep up, even if a particular piece is utter garbage.
@@OnlyTheBestFantasyNovels I have read the Cosmere (other than The Lost Metal and the Secret Projects) 3 times. So I know all of it. It just just feels like the books are suffering under the weight of the Cosmere tie-ins. What books do you think are utter garbage? (you won't hurt my feeling when it comes to the Cosmere, I'm not a super fan that can see no wrong in his books 😂)
@@JosephReadsBooks He hasn't written anything truly bad in the Cosmere as yet, White Sand's probably the closest and that was just okay. But given some of the other non-Cosmere stuff he's written like that Wizard book, it's really only a matter of time before he misses.
I really enjoyed this book but felt like I missed a lot based on not reading all the cosmere at the time.
