No, it was fresh and already peeled! I found that big bag at Sam's Club, although Costco also sells it. Most grocery stores sell them peeled as well in smaller packages, in the produce section by the herbs.

Garlic paste can be used the same way you'd use regular garlic. One teaspoon or garlic paste = 1 clove.
