- Happy Sunday friends! I can't believe we're already 1/12 of the way through 2021. Time is really flying these days. I appreciate all of you that continue to tune in every single week, it really means the world to me!
It's been a crazy week, work has been busy, it rained pretty heavily here and I've discovered this old house is falling apart with some major leaks which I have to fix, I got a job offer randomly that I ended up turning down, and my random YOLO GameStop $GME stock I bought a while ago suddenly went wild. I'm still doing my best to take care of mom in this time, so thank you all for your kindness, love, and concern.

I remember back in school whenever a teacher asked us "Who is your Idol or who does inspire you the most?", I always ended up being blank. Everyone had someone whom they desire to be like. It might be some famous author, scientist, or maybe even a celebrity. But no matter how much I thought about it, I can never think of anyone as my idol. So, long story short, I was watching one of your videos some days ago and my mom walks into my room and asks me, "Who is this?". And without even thinking twice, I say, "Oh this is someone I aspire to be like in my life".

@@kas2388 Yeah the more I think about it the more I realise how cool and valuable it is to have this guy pass on his life lessons and experiences down to us younger people. I think in this modern world it's easy to forget about the importance of bridging the gap between the generations. It's very sad when young people have such a dismissive view of the people that have lived this life for longer than us.
@@prod.hxrford3896 I agree. Even if the age is the same as others, I think the main point is just sharing each others' life experiences is important, healthy and overall good for us all to do. It really connects all of us together past our boundaries whether they be age, race, country of origin or whatever the issue is, talking is important. In fact, its so important because it is one of the main reasons we have survived this long. Other creatures cannot communicate like we can and it has aided in our survival and evolution.

It's a little saddening to see someone ask if caring for their old parents would make them miss out on things in their lives like acquiring "wealth, more cars", or "a bigger house."
When we finally lose our parents while we're achieving our goals, I'd wager that spending more time with them in their old age would be the only thing we'd wish we never missed out on.

I used to say my first kiss was my mom and all the kids at my elementary school were weirded out. It was true for them too so idk why it's such a hard concept to grasp. Even now, if someone asks me "who was your first kiss" I'll say, my mother. They'll then probably say "no, the first SIGNIFICANT kiss" and I'll still say, my mom.
Still did watch the video since it's been up for just a few minutes, but I'll be sure to watch it after I finish studying for my math test tomorrow. In hindsight, prom was a waste of time and money. At the same time, I might feel like I missed out if I didn't go, because I wouldn't know that it wasn't worth it. In that sense, it might have been worth it...
no it's not that important. I came to US 6 years ago and prom was never a thing in my country. I , however, did have prom for my 12 grade as I was in US at that time. didn't really enjoy it all that much since it's more or less just an event. it really is all about being around people you love and care. I'm married now and all I cant say is it's not about where you are, its about who you are with.
Man I relate so much to your videos, I feel like we both experienced a lot of the same things and responded to these events in the same way. I used to date in HS just to feel acceptance and enjoy the feeling of my ego increasing. When I actually got into a relationship I mostly just got bored and moved on to the next thing until I realized how shallow and petty my choices were.

Been a fan since 2005 living in the other side of the world (Australia). I remember I was in the equivalent of freshmen year. For my school, students that took business subjects had to form groups and open pop-up stores as our final project. The entire school can come during classes to shop around.
It didn't matter if we made money or not, just the experience of running a small business was the main idea. I vividly remember showing my group to watch one of your videos ( I forgot the name of the video but it was a funny idea of cutting up Men's clothing and making them into various Women's clothing). Our group thought that was a great idea and bought like 20 T-shirts and various random clothing from a local store.
To cut a long story short, we didn't sell a single thing. but we all had a blast brainstorming all the ideas that we could do as 14/15-year-old kids with no textile/sewing experience.
I now run a business that sort of uses the same idea I watched 14-15 years ago. So in a way, your videos influenced and shaped my road of owning my business!

@@wiltho1574 Got into the medical field and became an RN. Went from a 1.6gpa to 3.88, drive my dream car and everything. It's amazing what you can do once you settle down and focus on a goal. Could have sat there and been down over some relationships that didn't work out but I decided to use that as motivation to get ahead in life. I feel the rest will follow with due time.

You are something. Don't take this in a bad way, it's very inspiring that you make content and take care of your mother while providing for your mistakes in life. I am trying to think of a good word or phrase you call you because you're content, speaking, voice and mistakes has given me a chance to rethink things I've done and should be doing in my life. I was born on March 7, 2000. Right now I am 20, family, school, friends, and work and life have been stressful in these times now. I am debating if I should join the Air force in their ROTC or continue doing university and find a high paying job in my area. I guess you could call me a kid, I would look up to older guys like you as a kid thinking wow they're so cool and mature and they everything planned out and going for them. I used to think that way, but now realizing that no one is perfect, and we all have our own mistakes and flaws in life. Watching another person's content like yourself has motivated me, even more, to do accomplish and get things done in life. EDIT: just finished watching the video. it was amazing, and really relatable. this year is my last year in before heading out to uni, and i cant help but feel like i have missed out on a lot of things, not in the sense of relationships, but in the sense of just going out with friends and doing stupid stuff instead of playing videogames whenever i have some free time. i also almost didnt go to my 10th grade graduation (dunno how it works in the US, but in spain you have a graduation in 10th grade and one in 12th) just because i felt scared. glad i went in the end. thanks for the lesson brother :)

I’ve always enjoyed your videos Frank. From when you had the original ice1cube channel to ice1cubed, from California to Texas to back to California. To your music parody videos, finding out you’re a Christian and your introspective videos now. They’ve always been a glimmer of light that is the internet today. With everything the way it was and is now, the negativity driving the views and everything, I can honestly say that you’re the one of the only YTers who is one of the last bastion of its original quote, “Everything by Everyone.” You’ve remained true to yourself and stayed a genuinely wholesome person.
I’ve always realized that us as subscribers are really just numbers to celebrities or other internet influencers since they will never truly KNOW us to even be able to care. And that’s ok, it’s normal. However, I never got that vibe from you. The time you take to reply to most comments and your videos are like you’re having conversations with us in your living room. I would consider being able to spend so much time with your mother as an opportunity. When we were younger, I'm sure of a lot of people, including myself didn't appreciate our parents/grandparents as much as we could have. Some times we don't know what we have till it's gone and your mum having dementia is a sign that you don't have long together and to appreciate the time you have left.

ice1cube, I totally understand how difficult it is - at least some of it (I am a nurse). Most people would not be spending the time and extraordinary amount of effort to look after their closed ones. We all grow up to become individuals and have our own lives. Yes, caring for your mom may stop you from progressing a career, missing out on opportunities or not having entertainment outside of the house. but......If we use the mentality you have, what you are doing is seen as an act of love. An achievement that I would appreciate if I was your mum. Mad respect to you mate.
The class case of Shoes in Asian Homes! You should have took them off! Man! How the Childish mind games with our maturity and how our underdeveloped minds take a toll on what we think growing up?! All I can say is I have dealt with similar problems in the past, but I would never think to relive those moments and just move on with what I have right now? I’m 17, extremely shy and only talk to my mom. Life feels very hopeless for me a lot. Within a few years I’m gonna have to get a job and I’m dreading it. Not because I don’t like to work but because I don’t know how to carry conversations and have confidence.

Hey, I was and am in a really similar place to you. In school I'm super shy and I'm honestly afraid of talking to others but honestly at work it's completely different. I got my first job at 15 (currently 18) and it helped me make so many friends (3) and get to experience more then I ever had in school. I found it really easy to talk to others at work because there is always a common thing to discuss: your job. From there it usually branches off and you get to know people better and from my experience people often want to get to know you since they'll have to work with you.
been watching some of your videos. You are lucky growing up in cali where there is large % of Asian population in high school. My family moved from china to the east coast into the inner cities ghettos. It was tough living in a environment where the small % of asian were considered the " bottom of the food chain" cause no cares and most of the times we were bullied. Growing up in the late 90s there were no phones and the system was broken, any bully was pretty much tossed under the rug.
The hate never stopped and still happening nowadays. Keep the videos going thanks

as a current high school senior, the situation really sucks. i haven’t seen my friends in months and zoom/discord can only do so much. i live in california, which eliminates any chance of going back to in person classes. before the pandemic, i took school for granted and i really wish i didn’t. online class is honestly depressing man, what a way to end senior year. 😐

Missed out on my prom as well. Didn't really seem like a solo sport and didn't have anyone willing to go with me so didn't feel it was worth the expense. That was about 15 years ago. Still haven't had my first relationship yet; don't have any family either so just gotta ride this life solo into the sunset it seems

I think it's natural to feel regret about taking care of an incapacitated parent and feeling like you're missing out on life.
To me, it's one of the best things you can do in life. You're essentially returning a bit of what your parents dedicated their life to, you. It's the cycle of life in a sense. They took care of you their whole lives, now you're just simply returning the favour. Better to know you spent their last moments with them, then for them to perish in a retirement home.
Props to you and your partner because like it or not, it takes a toll on any intimate relationship.
One of the many things Asian culture gets right is that we don't give up on our parents or elders. We are there until the end.
