    • @toyotaFANatic81
      @toyotaFANatic81  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Accessing the headlight housings through the fender liners would be an interesting way to do it. Hopefully, the wheels and tires don't get in your way as you're taking off the liner.
      You can access the fog lamps from the fender, but getting to the main headlight housings would be a lot tougher from the fender.
      I think that this job intimidates people because there are a few steps, but it's actually quite easy. This video provides you with a step-by-step guide on how to do it effectively.

    I am replacing the headlight bulbs for leds but I am leaving the blinkers and the side markers incandescent. Will that have any effect on the leds? Thanks!

    • @toyotaFANatic81
      @toyotaFANatic81  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At first, I only replaced the main halogen headlight bulbs with LEDS. I left the signal lights and the side markers as non-LEDs. I had no issues at all.
      Now, my side markers are LEDs, the signal lamps are still non-LED.
      I hope that helps.

    I just watched another video. You can actually just unclip the fog light from the front. Put your hand in to release the harness and just take it off
    I guess if you have big hands like I do I probably couldn't get my hand to do that. But my question is, have you ever tried amber lights for your fog lights?

    • @toyotaFANatic81

      It's good that there's more than one way to do it.

      With the Platinum trim, the front and rear bumpers are already color-matched, so I don't get any credit for that. I did black-out the grille and badges, and color-matched the door handles.
      I did have a video on the blacking-out and color-matching, but it was shot so poorly that I pulled it. I will be making another one later this year.
      I'm still working on, and making videos for, the suspension and steering components of the truck, but later on, I will focus on the interior.

    The housing looked very loose on the fog light when you " very gently "😊 put the new lamp back in. Are your FL loose or bouncy when you go down the road in the morng?? If so , do you know a fix???

    • @toyotaFANatic81
      @toyotaFANatic81  ปีที่แล้ว

      Someone actually noticed!!!
      Yes, it was loose on the driver's side (the passenger side was much sturdier). It was like that when I bought the truck used. I believe the previous owner may have damaged it or striped the threads where one of the screws should go.
      Luckily, the housings do not move or bounce during operation of the vehicle and the fog lamps themselves are problem-free.
      Thanks for checking out the video!!! I hope that it was helpful.

    Is is possible to replace the bulbs by going up through the fender?

    • @toyotaFANatic81
      @toyotaFANatic81  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, thank you for checking out the video.
      As you can see from all of the steps laid out in this video, it is not possible to access the main bulbs through the fender. The headlight housings must be removed in order to change out the bulbs. The fog lamps can be accessed from the fenders, but the main bulbs cannot.
      Luckily, the steps in this video are VERY easy to follow, and you should have no problem changing the bulbs.
      I hope that helps.

    It doesn't look like the fender flares are scratching the paint under them. Usually you see a line where it is wearing on the truck paint. Did you do anything extra to protect the paint? Do you remove them periodically to check and clean under them?

    • @toyotaFANatic81
      @toyotaFANatic81  ปีที่แล้ว

      The flares have only been on for a year, so it's about time for me to check underneath.
      The rubber gasket that came with the flares has been helpful.

      Thanks for checking out the video.
      A few people have asked this. The type of bulb (halogen or LED) makes no difference to the job. The housings must be removed to change the bulbs.
      This job may seem intimidating because of the number of steps, but it is actually quite easy to do. I'd say give it a try. This video outlines the job step by step. I'm a little biased (of course), but my video is one of the more straightforward, clear, and concise videos that I've seen online for this job.

    Managed to get my fog lights severely misaligned. Can’t get them right. Tips or video?

    • @toyotaFANatic81
      @toyotaFANatic81  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you say "misaligned," are you speaking about the fog lamps bulbs themselves, or the fog lamp housings that the bulbs go into?

    • @toyotaFANatic81
      @toyotaFANatic81  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's hard to answer this question without actually seeing what happened. I've never had an issue with the fog lamp housings.
      The housings are solid plastic, and they don't usually bend (they break). So if it's not housing itself that's wonky, it's probably the part of the bumper that the housing screws into that is bent.
      Did you take the housings out in order to switch out the bulbs? If so, did you do any prying or pulling to get them out?

      Changing the headlight bulbs does not apply to your truck, but MOST of what I have done to my truck CAN still be relevant to yours. 2nd generation Tundras run from 2007 to 2021 - same frame, same drivetrain, same stock exhaust system, same braking system, practically the same suspension, etc.
      2022 Tundras (3rd gens) are the ones that are different from our trucks.

    • @toyotaFANatic81
      @toyotaFANatic81  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The beam pattern will depend on the type of housing you have. I have aftermarket headlight housings that are black on the inside. This reduces the brightness and thus the beam pattern a little bit.
      If you're still running the OEM headlights housings with the silver lining on the inside, your beam pattern will probably be a little better than mine.
      The particular bulbs that I bought are from Auxito, but there are QUITE A FEW good brands available for LED bulbs. That's why I'm not repping that one brand alone.

      Hey, man. You are correct. They are 9003 bulbs that I used. I apologize for the typing error. I know how frustrating that can be from previous experience. I have already fixed it for this video. It is correct in the other videos, so I don't know why I screwed up this one.
      Thanks for pointing that out!

    What brand was those bulbs I've got a 2016 tundra and i need to do the same thing

    • @toyotaFANatic81

      Hey, man! Thanks for watching.
      Those bulbs are from Auxito. I didn't rep the brand in the video because there are so many good choices for LED Bulbs on Amazon.
      Just create a filter for your truck on Amazon and then type in LED bulbs. You'll get a TON of variety.
      Congrats on being a fellow Tundra owner. I hope that the video was helpful! Good luck with your bulb job.

      I'm enjoying them. They're the 2nd set of LEDs that I've put in the truck, and they're brighter than the last set.

      Absolutely. Just swapped mine out. Those damn plastic clips always break. Need to find some new ones.

      @toyotaFANatic81  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I ordered a set of generic multi-purpose vehicle clips from Amazon. They can be used on ANY vehicle, and there are a number of clips that will replace most of the ones that are found throughout the truck.

    Housing

    • @toyotaFANatic81
      @toyotaFANatic81  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

  • @lcdubs7847

    Thanks for that. I bought LED bulbs, thinking it would be easy to pull out the old and put in the new, only to realize that I had to take out the entire headlight pod to change them. I was a little intimidated, but watching just a part of your video put my mind at ease. I went at it, and had the install done in no time!
    Thanks for the help!
