    Biggest mistake.....Eating too much. You will likely gain 1 pound per day. Seriously. I suggest skipping lunch, and having a light breakfast. Then you can enjoy dinner.

    I enjoy your upbeat suggestions. To me embarkation day is for adults what the first trip to Disney is to kids. It is so much fun to watch grown people act giddy with excitement. thanks

      Disney is a great comparison! I remember the excitement of our first trip there like it was yesterday! Funny thing is we still get giddy for every “cruise day”!

    One thing I always do is to go to aft elevator to get to my cabin or dining venue. Everyone, it seems, wants to get on the closest elevator and there are usually long waits.

    • @DocksideTravel
      @DocksideTravel  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great point! The elevator banks near the gangway/boarding area are crazy busy so using the other elevator banks is something we try to do as well. The same thing on port days - when you re-board the ship don't use the elevators closest to the gangway - walk to the other side of the ship and often the lines are much shorter!

    You definitely pegged the embarkation day feeling - total exhilaration!

      The anticipation and excitement is hard to describe to non-cruisers - but once you have experienced it there is no looking back!

    Next trip I'm going to try checking in for the muster drill prior to boarding. We have a hotel in San Diego directly across the street from the ship. Our first cruise from San Diego in 2021 we stayed the Wyndam Bayside, I opened the curtain departure morning and there was a huge ship sitting outside the window. Just get up and walk across the street. The most amazing departure Hotel ever.

      Getting the safety videos done early is very helpful. We have not sailed out of San Diego but if we do we will definitely look up that hotel!

    I'm just wondering if you get on the ship early how in the world are you going to go to your room? Because most ships the room's not ready until 1:00 or later.

    • @DocksideTravel
      @DocksideTravel  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great question - many cruise lines now place your room keys outside your cabin door! Your cabin may not be fully ready but you can definitely drop off your carry on bags!

    Unless you board in the afternoon, aren't cruise cabins closed off, except for certain loyalty tiers or room classes?

    • @DocksideTravel

      Many cruise lines now place your room keys outside your cabin door! Your cabin may not be fully ready but you can definitely drop off your carry on bags! Even in the "old days" we would go to our cabins (the hallways were not locked). We knew the cabin would not be ready for use until about 1 PM but we always dropped our bags!

      They should be included with your travel documents after you do your check in. Log into the Celebrity website and download them for printing. Hope this helps.

    Is that the Reflection we are going on it for Christmas how is that ship

    • @DocksideTravel
      @DocksideTravel  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Our most recent cruise was on the Reflection and that is one of the ships you see in the video. It is a lovely ship - we really enjoy the Sunset Bar and Lawn Club Grill on the Reflection. During our voyage Captain Matt (from Greece) was on board and he was great. You will have a great time at Christmas - but it may be busy at that time of year so be sure to pre-book as many things as you can before you sail!
