    Thank you for posting this August! Oak pruning makes up the vast majority of my work, so I am glad to see ANYTHING you do in that regard.

      They're such a pain. Sprawled out heavy dense limbs. We have mostly oaks in my area as well. And no one ever calls for the easy trees 😂😂😂😂only the nightmares. Live for this

    These pruning videos are so much more interesting from a climbing perspective. Much more technical and skilful. Please do more of them. Thank you.

    • @AugustHunicke
      @AugustHunicke  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nah. Skill needed but not more skillful. Actually, far less to worry about and consider. “Rigging”your person, is a first step that might prepare someone for more advanced things later with regard to rigging.

      @jonathanspafford7181 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree, however, i’ve met guys that can remove massive trees very efficiently on spikes but take the spikes off and they literally don’t know how to climb. I’d say rigging your person is the first step to really getting it all but some tree guys go years and years into their career without ever taking the spikes off so it all depends on the fashion that you learn in. However I agree large rigging on removals is much more technical and skillful . I climb on a monkey beaver everyday ❤️ all love

    Love the pruning videos. As an arborist it's so much of what I do, but everyone wants to film the removals. I find the big prunes to be the most challenging.

    That's a neat Joe hook. You could probably use that to lower smaller branches down.

    Nice work! Glad to see we aren't the only crew that has one guy pole sawing and another guy catching! LOL We've got a STIHL HTA 86 battery pole saw and it is darn good also! I was doing similar to what you were doing one day, cutting from a roof and giving the limb a little help so it wouldn't catch the gutter and it was a wish bone shape piece and it spun around pulling down hard on the pole saw and bent the shaft! So no more wishbone pieces for me, two cuts I guess! LOL

    I made a long polesaw out of a robust 20' extension pole, and a small electric pole saw that I've used for years on the pole and just as a homeowner light saw for tiny trees and overgrown hedges. It's awesome... oh, it's also plug in, not battery. Still, freaking awesome around the property.

    Happy Easter, thanks for posting the vid. I did my oak last week on a very windy day, I realized one could get sea sick if you're prone to that. I didn't realize how much I had thinned until I looked down and couldn't see the yard! Thoroughly enjoying my new past time and getting a work out while I'm at it. What's your cuttoff point for when dead wood is too small in diameter to bother removing? 1" diameter? Also, in quotes/contracts, do you specify removal of all dead wood or just "as necessary", so you don't have to get tiny twigs at tips of limbs?

    August, have you ever heard of adding cinnamon powder to water based paint to make an anti-fungal coating for the scar where a limb has been pruned? Cinnamon bark is highly anti-fungal for its own tree, in the jungle. I'm getting a bit old to give this experiment a fair trial.
