purchased a 2010 is250 4 years ago. best purchase of my life. not only has it kept value over the 4 years, but after throwing a private plate and updates headlights and taillights, it actually aged WAY better than most other similar aged sedans. cars now are designed for manufacturing efficiency, fast 0-60 and goofy exteriors that have no function. I don't see myself switching to anything else until I'm forced to go full electric in London. to summarise. this car was built to last and imo around 10 years ahead of its aging competition. So glad you made this video! My IS250 is the 6MT version and its such a fun car to drive! It has 108k miles on it and its been such a beast. I replaced the waterpump and alternator together since I heard there were common failure points and it was super easy and only took hand tools from walmart haha. From you teaching me how to do the oil change and sparkplugs, I dont imagine this car letting me down ever! I dont have an Instagram to send you any photos but thank you for recommending the IS250! Im so glad I chose this car as my first car over anything else.
Currently own a 2010 Lexus IS250 F Sport here in New Zealand and loving every single thing about it. Been driving it for a year now and never had a single issue (apart from replacing the tyres lol). I watched your previous videos and I gotta say you convinced me into getting one but hands down was one of the best decisions I ever made.

I’ve had my 2011 IS250 for awhile now. I’ve had all kinds of sports cars, I’ve owned a few Lexus cars, Toyotas, including a Supra that has been my favorite car overall, and this Lexus is so nice and reliable. I know I don’t have to worry about reliability like I do with my twin turbo BMW that I’ve spent more in maintenance than the price of my IS250, and get this; The BMW 535i has been parked in my garage for almost a year. It’s fun, but not a 10th as reliable as my Toyotas/Lexus vehicles.
Great review and interesting points presented. Never owned one but always loved these. As you said it's a safe choice in the used car market especially compared to its German rivals. Glad you keeping the IS around.
The best with these cars is they are sooo simple. I have done in my is350 all on my own- thermostat, coolant fluid, differential oil, brake rotors and pads, engine oil, even radiator and more and more. Secondly, in Poland, they are very rare and people think, they are much younger than they are. And final- material quality is amazing. My leather seats are like new after 236000 km. After 16 years, everything works perfectly, 0 issues. Of course, there was a problem with melting dash and door panels, but there was a recall from lexus for that. Availability of parts for IS are great and they are in normal prices in my opinion. If they are exploited with the right way- regularly changing oil, brake fluid, differential oil, cleaning leather seats and adding protectant cream etc. these cars will stand with you like the last Samurai :)
Completely agree. The fact you can do much of the maintenance yourself and it’s all relatively simple is a huge bonus. Parts are cheap and there is a big aftermarket scene as well.

You’re going to love it just obviously make sure you take care of the consumables. Frequent oil changes with an oil filter, and run the car hard every once in a while. Enjoy one of the best cars they have ever made.
Just want to share, I currently own a 2006 2is with around 230K+ kilometers. In my country, we only have one trim, which is IS300 with 3GR-FE engine. Buying 2is here can be pricey. The price range for 2006-2009 2is with 250k+ KM is usually around BN$21k (or CA$21.4k). I am the 3rd owner and I have been using it for almost 3 years now. So far, I hadn't seen major problem with the car, besides cosmetic issues like plastics interior began cracking especially on the AC air vents and engine misfire where it needs replacement on all the ignition coils + spark plugs. Again, it's a simple fix. The previous owner had fixed all the dashboard and door cards to leather due to rubber dash peeling off, etc. I did most of the car basic maintenance by myself at home and I am using Shell Helix 10-40W synthetic engine oil since I bought the car back in 2021.
I recently replaced my 2007 Lexus IS250 with a 2008 ISF. Damn the ISF IS a monster compared to the 250. Ever driven an ISF? It’s awesome. Let me say this though… the 250 is still awesome! Slower for sure but still a sporty fun daily driver.
These are indeed awesome cars, I own one of these in the UK where you can get a really good one for about $5000 with around 100,000 km on them, amazing cars!
i'm about to get one with 119k miles and @3k pound. i am kinda worried about the cost of petrol as i need a cool car for work . what is your advice? please get back to me asap
Just bought a 2008 with equivalent of 80k km here in U.K. for £8,000 (US$9,750 approx) 9 main dealer service stamps and in amazing condition for 15 y/o car. Said to be a particularly good second hand buy in this country because they were very popular with prosperous retired people trading down from company-owned big BMW and MB (all the luxe and toys, just smaller and more reliable if you’re paying yourself) - thus not only well cared for and not thrashed, but tend to have a fairly limited resale market as callow youth regard them as “oldies’ cars”. As an oldie, that suits me.
Facts my 2010 IS250. Been more reliable than my Honda Accord I had prior .. nothing has went out yet .. all I did was oil changes brakes and a spark plug service ..
My BMW never stranded me on the side of the road, but almost all the luxury features and electronics broke; and then the transmission needed a rebuild. This is the car I bought to replace it, and I'm not seeing any of the same issues with it yet - fingers crossed.
I have an 2006 JDM IS350 with only 85,000km on it (79,000 when I bought it earlier this year). Just being a Toyota in general means it will last me for years, let alone me taking care of it. The 250 is slow; 350 all the way. Paid $17k and it came with $3000 Rays rims. Absolute steal
OMG, this is my car. I have 240K km on it. A bit of rust on it thanks to someone at the mall parking lot hitting me. But it runs good. Not much maintenance on it except for hitting a mega pothole where i have to rebuild the axle and change the power steering rack. Done everything that needed to be done when i hit 100K km. So glad i bought this car in my early 30"s and it's been fun having this car before having kids. Now, it is small but still usueable.
I'm just about to drop 12K€ for a 2008 IS250 with 60K km, full service history, one owner, all service done in a Lexus dealer, and a 12-month warranty. Prices are crazy in Spain, but I don't think I can get a better car for the price. Well, that's the asking price, I'll talk it down somewhat, maybe 11K€. 60K km on this seems like just out of the factory, and the condition of everything is 100% mint, original paint, no touchups, not a scratch on it. I've been daydreaming about the IS-F but a low mileage one is 50K€ so, not going to happen lol.
Damn I love my 2009 Lexus IS250 also. Mine is dark Grey. I would never drive it for UBER even if it's qualified to. I use a 2018 Toyota Corolla for that. Never will I let my Lexus be used for strangers. She's mine and mine only.
I love my 2008 Lexus IS250. We have the same color too!! I think that it still looks timeless even in 2022 going on to 2023. I often look back at my car after parking. Do you do the same? It looks so good! Only 209k KM on mine or 130k miles. Awesome 😎
These are very underrated cars. Just because i think they are not "german" and the brand is not as exciting.... but hiding under there is a really fun amazing daily driver with enough pep to keep you happy. I drove these and they are great daily drivers. I wanted a civic SI, more flashy and a bit of a different driving feel, but i have owned lexuses in the past and other brands hardly match the value and reliability these cars deliver.
@@carswithsonduren yes i know they are smiliar but as a car lover and expert, what are the difference between the two cars 2008 model IS350 and 2011 model IS350? And what model would u advise me to buy? IS350 2008 or IS350 2011 model ?
Hi Sonduren, great video and beautiful car! I just bought a 2009 IS250 AWD with 118,000 Km for 7000k in Montreal. Super clean inside, Paint outside is still outstanding with only 1 pint chip on the roof with rust and unfortunately has a side scrap on passenger rear well which I am fixing up. Love the look of the car. 2 questions, compared to my old mazda 2006 Sport, I find the the steering very heavy, takes effort to turn, is this normal? Also when I do a hard acceleration I get rotten egg smell. Regular driving/acceleration at 120 km no issue, but if quickly accelerate from 10-20km or from 120 to 140 + it stink then disspaears if back to normal driving. Should I be worried about this? Anyway to get rid of the smell? Car had one owner and always serviced at Lexus dealer. Thanks.
Steering shouldn’t be too heavy check your power steering and the smell I used to get once in a while as well and never found out what it was. It happened so rarely it didn’t bug me. If you find out what it is let me know but It didn’t impact performance or anything.
Love the video, question I have a 2011 IS250 and also live in Ontario. Is your car rust proofed at all? Was wondering since your car looks pretty mint, if not rustproofed, do you have any visible rust on the car? I have some small surface rust spots underneath my own car, still I'm looking to get another 5-6 years out of my car at least so hopefully I don't have any major rust issues by then
I didn’t get any rust proofing, but I actually recommend you do. There is visible rust on the metal underneath the car though. Get a film of rust proofing for the peace of mind.
Question: did Lexus ever make an F sport version of the IS250? I remember on TH-cam ages ago I saw a review of a 2008 F sport IS250. Same exact thing as your car but with some tuned suspension, better breaks, and slight modifications. My friend is on the the market for one if this can be found. Those are pretty cool too.
Have you do any upgrades on the lights, I have 2010 Lexus is 250, I want to upgrade the lights to see better at night do you have any that you recommend??
I want to get one but once cars get above 100k miles I worry about oil consumption. Do these cars use lots of oil? All older engines burn oil but how does Lexus IS250 do? I have to check every month and top off?
Hey picked up a 2009 is 250 with 70k miles, love it! Just a question does your is vibrate slightly when you shift into drive? When I'm driving it's smooth and no issue but when u stop at a red light or shift into gear it tends to vibrate a bit.
@@carswithsonduren thanks buddy love the channel keep posting awesome content! Can you recommend a good mechanic in the GTA? Would be greatly appreciated!

Just bought a 2005 IS 350 from Japan at 69k km, not so confident thought for RWD in winter. I watched all your videos, how is it like actually in winter times. Alberta weather can be pre tough!
Hey Manny! Congratulations on the pick up such low kilometres as well. You will definitely need winter tires, I personally like the XIce and Blizzaks. Of course being rear wheel drive it will get a little bit squiggly in the back at times but if you just modulate the power properly, you should be OK. Tires are critical for this car in the worst winter conditions. It helps to have some weight in the trunk as well.
@@carswithsonduren rn the car has summer performance staggered tires, if you ever swapped rims, which ones did you go for and what are you winter tire size? Thanks a lot!
I have an 07 IS350 in Alberta. Winter tires are an absolute must. I use winter tires from an IS250 (225/45R17), and I have had zero issues driving through the snow and i never even lose the rear end as the Traction control always kicks in. For further piece of mind, activate the snow mode and you'll never have to worry. On a side note, I parked outside for 8 days (1 of which was -37°), and still started 😉
Another useful and interesting vid, thanks. What’s the make and model of the phone charger / streamer you’re using, please? I protect my 2009 IS250’s exterior plastics - ie, the window rubbers and front and rear screen surrounds - with a silicon-specific version of WD40: spray onto a cloth until it’s wet, then wipe/rub into the aforementioned. Protects and ‘feeds’ if applied every 6 months, but increase frequency in countries with sub-zero winters and very hot summers 🙂
@@carswithsonduren Please advise: my '09 IS250 has OEM Bluetooth but it's for hands-free cell calls only. So, if I fit an aux Bluetooth receiver to stream music from my iPhone, I'm guessing it will override the OEM Bluetooth? In which case, how do I make/receive cell calls? Thanks in advance for reply 🙂
Honestly, pretty identical, gas mileage. Why you should always be looking to get the IS350 where you can for the extra power and dual injection engine.
just got a deal on a 2012 is250 one owner has 108k miles dealer ask for 13,866 before tax and (processing fee) which came out to 17,300 i negotiated down to 15,500 out the door is that a good deal?

Need some help here guys, I’m in the market for a used Lexus IS 250. Found 2 models that is quite hard to choose. One is a 2011 reg with white leather interior which I think looks really nice also it’s the same grey colour that you have in your video which I love also. The second car is a 2009 reg with the Mark Levinson speaker. yeah so it’s either the one with the mark levinson or the car that has the nicer looks also a bit cleaner looking
Tough call, assuming maintenance history and body condition and price are equal? Either one would be a great car, not much changed throughout these model years.
How on earth you get such a low milage on this car?? My avarage mpg is 34 (8-9l per 100km)... if I cruise on 60mph (100kmh) on a highway I get up to 50mpg (6l - 100km)... Something is really mot right with your car... or maybe because my car only had 22 000 miles when I bought it. Anyway great car.
Don’t get the IS 250, it’s gutless, the 2.5 liter engine is too underpowered. Expect to replace the alternator at ~190k miles. I have one, it’s above average in terms of reliability, but it has its share of problems. The interior of my 2009 IS 250 is falling apart and the stock stereo system only works intermittently.
You get terrible fuel economy. Something must be off with your car. I get 8.5L/100kms with my IS250 6MT(350k kms) on 4.1 gear ratio and LSD and my other tuned IS250 6MT (270k kms) straight piped on stock gears gets 6.5L/100kms!

Facts my 2010 IS250. Been more reliable than my Honda Accord I had prior .. nothing has went out yet .. all I did was oil changes brakes and a spark plug service ..
Awesome to hear Lark and welcome to the channel :)
@@carswithsonduren thank you having me I’m excited 🎉
My BMW never stranded me on the side of the road, but almost all the luxury features and electronics broke; and then the transmission needed a rebuild. This is the car I bought to replace it, and I'm not seeing any of the same issues with it yet - fingers crossed.
You will be happy with your decision 👍 Reliable AF.
I feel like we have the same path on our journey with this car and now with your upgrade ;)
Quite a thirsty bugger but uber smooth short stroke V6 with immediate lag-free punch off the lights
I am a first year university student and i think out of all other boring cars i think lexus is250 is a perfect car for its looks and reliability.
100% for a university student. This is a perfect option.
I have a 07 is250 looks exact same as in this video reliable comfortable like he said take care of the maintenance and all is well
Nice :) completely agree these are amazing cars.
One of the best cars I have ever owned! I've had BMW's Mercedez, but nothing is like Lexus on the reliability of it.
I agree, We can't complain about power and fuel efficieny at the same time.
Exactly. Love the car.
Damn I love my 2009 Lexus IS250 also. Mine is dark Grey. I would never drive it for UBER even if it's qualified to. I use a 2018 Toyota Corolla for that. Never will I let my Lexus be used for strangers. She's mine and mine only.
Will buy one this saterday... a 250 from 2006 ....
I love my 2008 Lexus IS250. We have the same color too!! I think that it still looks timeless even in 2022 going on to 2023. I often look back at my car after parking. Do you do the same? It looks so good! Only 209k KM on mine or 130k miles. Awesome 😎
I do the same I swear. The design holds up well even a decade later. Beautiful vehicles.
I do the same 😂
Beauty and reliable 💙
Upgrade to the vland headlights and taillights. You will not regret it, it makes the car more beautiful and newer
I never considered that I’ll look into it 👀
These are very underrated cars.
Hundred percent agree Moti! Honestly, I love getting into my IS coming from any other vehicle. It’s so fun small and nimble.
Hi, I am the owner of a 2007 IS250. Is there a way to register the TPMS cheaply?
Best car ever thank you for video will check your other videos
Thanks man and welcome to the channel :)
Pleased between IS350 09 model and IS 350 011 model which should i go for and why ?
Very similar just look for the mileage and condition
@@carswithsonduren yes i know they are smiliar but as a car lover and expert, what are the difference between the two cars 2008 model IS350 and 2011 model IS350? And what model would u advise me to buy? IS350 2008 or IS350 2011 model ?
Great video just wondering how’s the music system ?
It’s decent nothing crazy if you are an audiophile.
@@carswithsonduren Thank for replying Sonduren
I just picked up a 2015 gs350 f sport for 10,000 with the red and black interior
Congratulations man beautiful car it’s going to last you a lifetime
Lexus is the best 👊🏼🔥
I own a stunner is250 convertible with cream leather and Lexus UK look after it for me
Love the video, question I have a 2011 IS250 and also live in Ontario.
Not really for the IS250. Obviously there is the ISF but that is very different vs the IS250.
Have you made a video on all the work you've had done on the car? Or have you been super lucky to not have issues with suspension, transmission, etc?
Have you do any upgrades on the lights, I have 2010 Lexus is 250, I want to upgrade the lights to see better at night do you have any that you recommend??
th-cam.com/video/O5qkcth8Egc/w-d-xo.html check this out!
I want to get one but once cars get above 100k miles I worry about oil consumption. Do these cars use lots of oil? All older engines burn oil but how does Lexus IS250 do? I have to check every month and top off?
The worst case scenario you’ll have to check it every couple months otherwise it’s not a big issue in my opinion.
@@carswithsonduren thanks. I figured every month or two it’ll burn a little oil like a quart or half one. In that case … top it off.
nice review! how's the road noise compared to let's say, a bmw 3 series of the same year? or perhaps a gs 430? thanks !
Honestly, tough for me to say my sister has a 328II don’t notice any difference between the two.
What about the direct inject problem. The oil can't be the only answer
It’s not. Some people get the PCV upgrade but in my experience it’s not required.
Lol that was awesome just do the oil change simple as that I love how reliable it is that's more than everything 💙
Yeap 100%
Would you chose this over the Honda Accord 8th gen? (Specifically the 2.4 manual version)
Personally, yes.
What type of rims are those?
Hey picked up a 2009 is 250 with 70k miles, love it! Just a question does your is vibrate slightly when you shift into drive? When I'm driving it's smooth and no issue but when u stop at a red light or shift into gear it tends to vibrate a bit.
Congratulations! No, I personally never experienced that. Sounds very odd. I would definitely just get it checked out.
@@carswithsonduren thanks buddy love the channel keep posting awesome content! Can you recommend a good mechanic in the GTA? Would be greatly appreciated!
@barrysingh8529 I only have experience with Garage Auto Sports in Newmarket. If they are close to you otherwise I’m not of much help there since I do all the maintenance on my Lexus. Thanks as well :)
@@carswithsonduren appreciate the quick and honest response my guy! Hope you have a great weekend!
@barrysingh8529 you as well. Hoping it’s nothing serious but definitely don’t drive it like that for long without getting it checked!

I do have a question on the insurance. Are they difficult for affordable insurance?
Very affordable.
Hi! IS350 is better than E350 of Mercedes from the same age? (2011)
I used 235/40/18 all around personally but a lot of people go staggered with 255 in the rear.
How comfortable would it be for a somewhat tall person to drive? (6’1”)
A little tight tbh
Is 250 here, best 6k I spent in my life
IS250 /350 and RX300 /350 are still the best bang for buck cars for comfort, reliability and some meat on it
This man speaks the truth!
This is a pre face-lift so it can't be a 2009. Awesome car.
I bought a 2007 red AWD a couple months ago for 12k, 104,000km.
Did I get a good deal?
I think that’s a good deal for the KM!
Guys I bought IS250 2010, is ot only takes premium gas?
Correct technically
They’re gem! I prefer a manual AWD one
Sadly no AWD manuals available. Only RWD manuals.
I was wondering if an is350 still a good buy today with 200k miles
Yes, the question is at what price though?
@@carswithsonduren about 9k USD
@@carswithsonduren still about 9k USD super clean inside and out
Have a manual 250, best daily driver but some electrician destroyed my board when installing the android screen..
Oh no :(
Hey can i get the link to buy the magnetic phone charger holder
Here you go :) th-cam.com/video/fmrRyUJ9_Pc/w-d-xo.html
Another useful and interesting vid, thanks.
What’s the make and model of the phone charger / streamer you’re using, please?
I protect my 2009 IS250’s exterior plastics - ie, the window rubbers and front and rear screen surrounds - with a silicon-specific version of WD40: spray onto a cloth until it’s wet, then wipe/rub into the aforementioned. Protects and ‘feeds’ if applied every 6 months, but increase frequency in countries with sub-zero winters and very hot summers 🙂
Interesting never heard of that before I’ll try it out! Also here is the video with all the links :) th-cam.com/video/fmrRyUJ9_Pc/w-d-xo.html
@@carswithsonduren Thanks for link 🙂
@@carswithsonduren Please advise: my '09 IS250 has OEM Bluetooth but it's for hands-free cell calls only. So, if I fit an aux Bluetooth receiver to stream music from my iPhone, I'm guessing it will override the OEM Bluetooth? In which case, how do I make/receive cell calls?
Thanks in advance for reply 🙂
It will go through your Bluetooth unit for all calls and it works for me quite well!
@@carswithsonduren Thanks 👍
I have a 2013 with 65,000 pearl essence .
The German cars all lost the competition to Lexus when it comes to luxury, build quality, reliability and value for money.
Hey, nice car, what is the paint code? Thanks
A lot of people buying the convertible of this generation to lock in those low kms
So you owned the both engines, how big is the difference in gas mileage between them?
Honestly, pretty identical, gas mileage. Why you should always be looking to get the IS350 where you can for the extra power and dual injection engine.
Between w204 2012 c180 and lexus is250 will be a great choice
We cant buy the is 350 in the uk so i have is 250 its the best you get 07 plate 😊
Wow, that’s crazy! I didn’t know that but you will still love the 250.
just got a deal on a 2012 is250 one owner has 108k miles dealer ask for 13,866 before tax and (processing fee) which came out to 17,300 i negotiated down to 15,500 out the door is that a good deal?
Are we talking USD or CAD? If USD too expensive IMHO still. Can they do 14K?
@@carswithsonduren usd i mean i can try cuz they texted me saying 15,500 after i talked em down im coming back today to try to make it go down some more
See if you can negotiate it down more IMHO. Goodluck!
Great answer, would you say the Mark Levinson speaker makes a big difference compared to the normal speakers?
Honestly, max I’d pay for it is $500 bucks. Nothing more in terms of value.
I got a 2011 beautiful 🚗 👌🏾
11 to 13 liter/100km ???!! Are you racing between traffic lights ? I get less than 8 liters/100km
Most likely combination of I have over 350,000 km on the engine, winter gas etc etc.
I like the GS
What kind of gas are you putting in this?
Supposed to be putting premium
I wanted to ask about the cruise control lever. Many people say that it can sometimes get in the way while driving. What is your opinion on this?
I never had an issue with that personally.
Noice!!
Yes but keep it quiet until I buy mine in a few weeks😂😂😂
Hahah the secret is out man
Don’t use regular gas ⛽️
You get terrible fuel economy. Something must be off with your car. I get 8.5L/100kms with my IS250 6MT(350k kms) on 4.1 gear ratio and LSD and my other tuned IS250 6MT (270k kms) straight piped on stock gears gets 6.5L/100kms!
👏🏽🔥💯
