    Love you guys. I’m a retired mother of grown kids and I put your videos on at night and for some reason they give me so much comfort. I think they remind me of growing up in Georgia in the 60s. Looks just like my grandparents backyards. Times when I was so happy because all the people I loved and loved me were alive. Thank you all for your travels and for your thoughtful messages to us all no matter who we are. Great young men and I pray Blessings for you and your families.

    The decking under the bridge is used a lot during construction, both to catch materials that might fall before they roll down the hill or get carried into streams or as a last resort safety measure for workers/inspectors. -a civil engineer. good video!

    I thru-hiked the AT in '21 and let me tell you, reaching Harpers Ferry was quite the morale boost. Also to answer some of your questions. While that shelter is nice there are far nicer ones including a triple decker. Also what you describe going through each town and getting that slice of life from the locals was my favorite part. Glasgow was hiker trash heaven, a shelter with a hot shower in town and a cheap pizza place across the street. Waynesboro was the most hiker friendly where you couldn't get near a road without someone offering you a ride. Warwick was my favorite though, where thruhikers get to camp at the drive in and watch the movies for free.
    I'm surprised Andrew didn't remark on all the mulberry trees lining the bike path into HF. I ate so many on my way out of town I nearly made myself sick. I also stayed at that Quality inn
    Adjusting to life again has been a struggle and those hunger cues stick around for a long time. Thanks for bringing back pleasant memories of the greatest adventure of my life.

    • @AdventureArchives
      @AdventureArchives  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That shelter sounds amazing! Wow, somehow I didn't catch any mulberry trees while we were hiking, I usually am good about spotting them! Thanks so much for your comment and thanks for watching, and congrats on your thruhike :)

    I hiked the entire AT at 65. Life is never the same afterwards. As a thru hiker you don’t appreciate details of a slow hike like you did. The towns change a lot from affordable and friendly in the South to expensive and standoffish in the North. It was a great experience.

Even the few that somehow have over a million are not half as entertaining as your guy’s content. It’s insane. I hope that never discourages you guys from making these awesome videos. Hoping you hit a million subscribers soon.

    ~ @49:30 You guys ask if its the nicest shelter on the AT. There's an absolutely HUGE nicer one called the Fontana Dam shelter. It's absolutely massive and has solar chargers and stuff. It's right before you enter the Smokies.

    Shekoli (greetings) Awesome video you guys!! Hey Andrew I see you have an affinity for Pawpaw trees, in the Oneida language (Haudenosaunee) we call the Pawpaw tree Ohyahuwé which translates to “fruit -ohya-, forever -huwe-” or “the forever fruit” in the native concept of grammar also the phonetic pronunciation would be “oh yaa who way”, so I just wanted to share that with you, looking forward to your next video yawʌko! That "bike path" is actually the same road you started the trail on. It's access to a US government facility on top of the mountain. This is also where "Lamb's Knoll", the peak and an overlook, of the mountain is located. These are some beautiful areas of Maryland and West Virginia. Glad you guys enjoyed it! Keep up the great content!

    2010 thru hiker here…the cabins you mentioned are rather nice. Rustic and simple but def worth staying at on a trip thru that area. Even though that part of the trail is pretty uneventful scenery wise, I remember it very very well. You are excited and emotional when you get that first glimpse of the confluence at HF, and put your feet across the “halfway” point. I’ve gone back many many times to check out the amazing history in more detail and to relive those moments. That was such a good day!
