Very nicely done! The lieder Ideale, by Tosti, is one of my favorite art songs. I'm going to look you up to see if you've continued your journey into opera and opera-adjacent music as a vocal tenor. As a fan of all kinds of music, jazz included, but primarily opera, a friend sent me this link and I was enchanted.

I remember this one & Jason Liem's the best of all the speakers at TEDxOslo... Got serious goosebumps when he started singing.

Ein wirklicher Visonär. Vom Freejazzer entwickelt er sich zum Opernsänger. Und überzeugt Fans aus beiden Lagern. Håkon Kornstad ist ein charismatischer Musiker und unerschrockener Visionär.

Yep. Placido Domingo said it best: "There is no best or better than music. There is just good music and bad music." I bet if he heard this, he'd give a thumbs up.

The talk was beyond entertaining, I admire your courage to try new things, bravo for that. About the singing I think you are still at a very early stage in your vocal training, very nice instrument just lacking training and experience. The part that really moved me is that you are brave enough to do whatever you want regardless of what people or colleagues may say or think, bravo!

He's a much better sax player than singer.....the voice is there but the technique is very much a work in progress...and he sure is cute!

Not too keen on the improv biz, but what I do like is that you are seeking to open yourself up to all the potential you have within and share with others. There is nothing like the human voice opened up, on the breath, out and about with no restrictions...and all the better with no electronics as physics of natural sound are incredible when one hears a opened and secured voice live. If you want the technique of Corelli, Domingo and the like, study with Bill Schumann in Philadelphia (American Vocal Academy). He makes the greatest singers on the planet today. (Fabiano, DiDonato, Guiterrez, etc.) Good luck!

    • @guitar-zg6sx

I agree. The clue is when he said "The tenors of the past really old tenors, really hit me". A lot of contemporary opera singers seem to sing by "controlled screaming". Jussi Bjorling, (or Gigli, or Pavarotti etc), sang in a different way, to my ears. (I'm not a singer so I don't know why they sound different?)

What do you want to say? It ain't the money, here we have a man who is taking risks, seaching for his own way. Are you a qualified jazz cop trying to identify violations against the law of purity?

Ah yes, every true musician comes around to the appreciation that all instrumentation is an imitation of the legato of singing. Lovely.
