    Looking back in 2023 and 2024, there are several things that contributed to my net worth gains. I moved my money when I see an opportunity and the 3% match on retirement accounts was a banger. My primary residence, retirement and brokerage appreciation, and 1099 and W2 income all contributed significantly.
    In terms of losses you could say Dogecoin was a bit of a loss or sort of a huge roller coaster ride. It still made money but it was insane. Buying the Tesla Model 3 Performance was both good and bad. It gave a good perspective into the value of a Tesla car by understanding the build quality, FSD, and what it is really like owning the car giving valuable insight into the stock. The bad part is the depreciation of nearly $10k/year going from $72 value down to about $30 now. Ouch.

    I am still sitting on the popular tech stocks that I bought in April 2020. I was hoarding up cash at the time for another house and decided to bet the farm during the huge downturn sale on stay at home Tech companies. Amazon, Apple, Meta, Google.

    Sometimes the market moves 1-2% in a single day. Not to mention the lag time between the markets and having to do the transfer. It's probably likely many people lost money moving to robinhood.

    • @BeatTheBush
      @BeatTheBush  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I like that. Thanks for the tip. Robinhood also has some deal for new deposits of 1% interest boost paid out over 24 months. So you would get 6% effective if you leave it in.

    • @gorshenbag
      @gorshenbag 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@BeatTheBush That is a good deal, however it's being taxed at a much higher rate than USFR. Plus, USFR has the advantage of being held in any brokerage account.

    You should sell your home and move to Tennessee. You could buy a nice home here free and clear and put a lot of the rest in your investment account. Cost of living is much better here.

      COL is just one consideration. I moved from NC to Seattle, which most people would say is more expensive. But I don't need a car here. We share a car, but we only drive it when we leave town every couple of months or so. Therefore, I never buy gas and the actual wear and tear on the car is nil. This means my actual COL is within a couple hundred dollars per month of where I lived in NC. Amazing how much cars really cost without people realizing it. Additionally, I have tons of recreational opps that are entirely free because I can bike to them, or if I want I can often ride transit there. Scenery is probably the best of any city in the US, maybe the world. And it's just so nice never having to drive. I also never have to see Trump flags. There are well documented downsides like homelessness and drug use, but I don’t find these things affect my everyday life much, and most of the negative press is from people who don't live there and probably have a culture war agenda. Bottom line is that TN and NC are great options for a lot of folks. But for someone like me, there are big upsides to living in a big west coast city, and it isn't necessarily as expensive as ppl think once you adjust out car expenses.

      When moving to a new state, you still have to consider many things like weather, people, and food options. I never been to Tennessee though.
