Hopefully you’re not still dealing with this but if your dog is shaking and standing still or even sitting down this means your dog has “shut down” I suggest working on counter conditioning and positive reinforcement which could look like giving your dog high value treats (chicken, cheese or smelly dog treats) the moment they walk out the door to the whole duration of the walk this will teach ur dog that walking isn’t so scary as they get rewarded during the activity
@@thecollegedropout2031 although I can’t speak for them I’m dealing with the same thing, and even his favorite toys, treat, or person will get him away from the door. it's a very skill precise technique which comes from a huge amount of practice. using just the right pressure through the lead at the right time. it's tiny details that come from practice, e.g. at 1:37 cesar corrects her twice because her mistakes would've lead to pulling or stopping. very small easy to make errors.
Yeah I don’t pull the leash i let my dog walk around get comfortable with the area, calm energy no tug. Then if a person, dog or train come by she leads me back to the door.
I just rescued a German shepherd who has this same issue :( someone had to of beat her. Shes such a sweet heart! I'm really getting connected with her. Not at all her fault. Very sad
We have a rescue who is now 7 we got him when he was a little over 1 years old. He came from Tennessee. The family was moving to somewhere that didn't allow dogs so they just left him🤬. He's still skidding and refuses to go on walks. I'm trying to find help.
Live in the moment. Don't focus on the past of what might have happened or not happened. The dog has already gotten past that trauma or abuse. It's the human owner who is the one that doesn't left the dog move ahead or past it. Learn to let go like dogs do. Erase the past. Brand New day.
@Lynn Roberts food treats good energy and use motivators. Find people the dog likes. And trusts. Slowly get him to move more and more away from his comfort zones. If he has any other dogs he likes and trusts that's another way.
I took in a very fearful dog a few days ago. Her tail stays tucked in during the entire walk and she panicks at every noise or movement. She's around 3 years old. She's very strong too and I have trouble when she jerks away in panic mode. She's a whippet mix. I need assistance please! Come to Lancaster OH!!
I have a whippet mix rescue as well. Everytime we go out, she just shakes in fear. I dont know what else I can do for her. Our vet has even given her calming pills to try and help with how anxious she is every time we leave the house.
So my dog loves walking does a great job with walks. Took 4 years to get here, but she hates getting collar/leash on and off. She lost weight and her collar was too big and then got her paw stuck. We got the collar off, but now can’t put the collar back on. She is begging to go out, but no collar means no leash - and no leash means no going out.
angelfoodcake1979 the dog feeds from your energy. Be calm and assertive like the pack leader and the dog senses that and follows you. I tried this with my beagle and it worked for me.
I have a 5 month old chiwinnie that gets very scared of the wind. She starts going around in circles trying to bight herself and yelping. I just don't know what to do to help her get over this. Can someone tell me what I can do to help her get over this.
The bite was a self defense because the dog wasn’t comfy and he didn’t know what was expected of him. So by letting him bite, he gets his frustration released and because Cesar was calm, didn’t react to it and then waited for him to get ready he found out, that there is no threat and that the bite wasn’t necessary. he didn’t get anywhere with the bite, there was no reaction to it, so the dog has to find another way to figure this out, so the dog surrenders ( but not in a negative way, he takes a step back and is now open to suggestions).Next step is Cesar confidently leading him in the direction he wants, putting a little pressure on the leash wich makes the dog follow. After that, the dog is calm, and following because Cesar basically said “trust me, follow me, then you have nothing to worry about and everything will be great” in dog.
@@luna00musen love that you put in that they're open to suggestions and submitting not in a negative way since lots of people consider this abuse apparently
My dog is 8 year old and still scared to venture outside....not clear what he did here...can somebody explain....i will thank you for the rest of my life!
See if this helps. Try to calm yourself down before you take the dog out for a walk. Keep the leash loose and make sure you stay calm and not force the dog by tightening the leash and pulling forcefully in any direction. If the dog tries to pull you because it's anxious and wants to get away or hide somewhere, stop till the dog calms down and stops pulling. Again, don't raise your voice or loose your cool as this will make the dog more anxious. Initially, try to avoid other dogs and people on your walk, so head out when this can be done. Take it slow at first. I had a 3 year old Lab in the same condition and took her to a massive parking lot late at night where there were no people. I hope this helps. Would also suggest watching more Cesar videos. He talks about a lot of simple things that we ignore and I can't explain it better than him. Basically, the dog will respond to you best when you are in a 'calm energy' state. Best of luck.

This is a very late reply, but you have to teach children to be calm around dogs.. when kids run dogs love to follow and be a part of the action.
