- This is a very distressed journal, originally created as flip through of an abandoned mansion, with artwork and walls that have been slowly worn by time. But Mom loved it and is keeping it, so now it's Mom's Grunge Journal. This uses a variety of scrapbook papers and book pages, with layers of brown tissue, sprays, inks and pastels to build up the textures. It was a lot of work - every piece got multiple passes until it was grungy enough, but it was sure worth it to see how much Mom appreciates it - Laura

Laura, If I didn't know you, I would never know what a stretch this was for you!! This journal is beyond incredible!! I can't believe you let Glynis claim it before I had a chance!!! I know you're anxious to do a couple journals full of flowers and butterflies....I wo0uld encourage you to then circle back around and create another grungy journal!! You are a natural at this. I could pet this journal every day!! ❤️❤️❤️

I wish Laura would do a process video on a couple of pages so we can see how she does her magic. I absolutely love it.
I'm really not set up for video - I do all the photo albums on facebook then I mail them to Mom for videoing. But who knows, maybe I can figure something out someday.
For this journal I did a lot of what I think of as 'dry' distressing - no spraying. Smoosh ink or pastels on a piece of packaging, then rub that on the page. Repeat with lots of colors :)
Thank you Laura for sharing that I'll be trying that today in my art room. Girl if you could see my setup that I do for my TH-cam channel you would just laugh. I do all my videos from my phone sometimes I have them propped up between 2 chopsticks or it's or tongs duct taped to a suitcase handle You wouldn't believe some of the ways I've had to video. But I understand what you're saying.
Me too I would love to see the magic! I'm curious what kind of binding and if it was made from a envelope, book etc.
@@Wendy-sj6di It is wallpaper, with tissue paper layered on top, then lots and lots of layers of colour. The actual wallpaper is red and gold - when i say a lot of layers, i mean it!

Lots and lots of layers. I put ink or pastels on deli paper or acetate, and then rubbed that on the pages and cards to create extra textures.
This is absolutely beautiful. Hope she does a tutorial on her method.

What does she finish that with to make it look a bit shiny? Beautiful!!
Any of the shiny gold bits are Nuvo Aspen Gold. Most of the other bits are covered in matte medium to dull them down so the shiny bits really contrast. :)
