How I Made "If Sabaton Wrote Barbie Girl"

- After a month since the upload, 500K+ views, and many a discussion in the comment section, I thought I would make a short video explaining the creative process of my "Barbie Girl" parody in the style of Sabaton.
All songs used in this video are pitch shifted to better demonstrate similarity

I forgot to mention in the video, the falsetto “Barbie” vocals were done by Daniel Parker as an afterthought after we recorded lead vocals. Though it’s not very much in the vein of Sabaton to have a singing style like this, we settled on it since the lines didn't work very well with only the lower Baritone style. We also tracked more background vocals over the chorus to give it a choir effect. Daniel Parker, Eddy DiGiulio and I stood around the mic and tracked vocals at the same time.

I need to know .. Did you know that Tommy Johansson , one of the guitarists in Sabaton, is know for his high vocals ( all the way up to the female range) when you added the high vocals ( he is amazing) it’s just so perfect.

The falsetto vocals are very reminescent of Sabaton - Steel Commanders where Tommy's vocals are allowed to shine at 2:30. It's a very nice touch to your song.

Okay so:
1. Please do more of these (I mean covers in like band style with analysis afterwards)
2. I see that you have underestimated the power of the memes, a surprisingly common mistake
3. So why do English speakers struggle with rolled "r" so much? Like this is a genuine question, my first language doesn't exactly have an unrolled variant and I'm kinda curious why it's considered difficult

2. Indeed I have. I've preferred to invest my time in more "serious" projects, but the attention that meme material has brought is undeniable. Plus, it's fun!
3. In America and in my upstate NY dialect, we don't have a rolled "r" sound that's used in common language. Furthermore, the education system where I live doesn't push learning other languages until middle school (ages 11-13) when we've already established our speaking patterns. (I think this is a HUGE flaw in the American Education system.) To me, this has led to being a grown adult, who still struggles with the rolled "r" since I never learned it an an age where I could absorb it and internalize the feeling of properly executing it.
I'm german and barely noticed a rolling R. funnily, my german accent in English is strong as hell
On point 3. It can actually be quite difficult to learn new speech sounds as an adult. There's a period of development in early childhood where speech sounds are learned naturally and categorised as phonemes and allophones in the brain, and after that it becomes less natural and more difficult.
When I was studying linguistics we had to learn to pronounce *all* possible speech sounds, but it was nearly impossible even with knowledge of the vocal tract and lots of practice. I still can't get the Arabic glottal h or German uvular r.

If you made "If Sabaton Wrote I'm Just Ken" it would be one of the greatest covers ever and would probably inspire Sabaton to sing it.
This came up in my spotify discover and nearly cried when it said "in 1959" at the end. I love Sabaton always mentioning the year something happened.

My friends and I accidentally ran across the doing while goofing around before a vc DND session where I was the dj sharing my screen to provide music. I saw your video’s thumbnail and was flabbergasted to say the least. My friend immediately demanded we listen to it before anything else.

I actually got to hang out with Joakim for about 20 minutes after a show. Dude is COOL AF!!!! LOL Super funny, nice guy, great with fans ( loves the fans) very intelligent, articulate and badass conversationalist too. Met Par as well, nice guy as well!!!! LOVE this Sabaton-Barbie Girl. This is a Sabaton parody that Sabaton themselves would love. I guarantee it. LOL Joakim is SUPER authentic and down to Earth , bro.

I thought it was just a silly throwaway line added simply so that the song will feel a lot more like a Sabaton song and boy oh boy am I surprised to know that it's actually tied to real history and now I have found a deeper appreciation for that line LOL
