Omg, thank you so much, this was driving me crazy, I replaced the blade wiper 3 times, I thought about replacing the whole part, then watched your video and within 10 minutes it was fixed, the best vide ever. You're the best.
@@fixpro256 I'm from Sittingbourne England. Searching for ways to stop my wipers from driving my wife and me crazy every time it rains. I've tried the vinegar, soapy water, WD40 and new blades, but these are just quick fixes. I needed something permanent. Thanks to you, I found it! Also, if you ever get asked to read anything on Audio Books...DO IT! That voice is worth a fortune! You'd make a fine Country singer too!
You may want to consider the torque that you’re putting on the joint of the wiper arm down below without a second crescent wrench below the first one counteracting those forces and isolating the joint by pulling in the opposite direction with the second crescent wrench so that you can actually bend the metal arm and not bend the joint and possibly make it loose over time which could ruin it.
Used your brilliant method yesterday, fast and easy! So far good, thank you! Let it rain so I can see the results (seems to be perfect in my test)! Those wipers have been driving me CRAZY. Well done fixpro guy :)
I remember being so aggravated with this back in the 80s when I was first starting to drive. I've always been OCD about noises with my cars/trucks. I was so happy when I figured out how to fix it.
Perfect, and well presented, just altered mine, previous owner for 22 years had skipping blade on the drivers side ouch, just bought the car and altered it.
Thanks for the nice words. It amazes me how often I get in a car with someone and their wipers are jumping. They have no clue how to fix it. They just turn the radio up louder. ;-) Now I can point them to this video.
Wow I can't believe it. I changed my windshield wipers three times and it was simply that I needed to twist the arm to a better position. For me I also had to slightly bend the windshield wiper bar away from the window as if it was pressing against the window too hard. That might be an issue for some people as well
That's how I figured it out. I had a celica about 30 years ago that I couldn't get to stop. Finally noticed the arm was twisted. You may have had something hit the arm (storm debris, car wash, bird....). Some wiper arms have a spring and pivot that gets corroded and causes the wiper arm to bind with either too much or not enough pressure. If it gives you problems again, might need to lubricate that pivot area and any points of contact for the spring. Good luck.
thank you I just bought a used car and it was driving me nuts, I replaced the blades thinking it was the problem and it still did the same sound when coming down. I'll try this tomorrow and I hope it fixes it
Be sure to try a window treatment first. They may stop it, or it may only stop it temporarily. Since it is only making noise in one direction, chances are you will have to twist the arm. Good Luck
I did this to the first car I ever had about 40 years ago. I've had to do it to every car since then and every car in my family. Couldn't believe it when I couldn't find a video about it, so I decided to make one. If the problem comes back, be sure to check the text part of the video, it may give you some other ideas.
That is usually due to contamination on the windshield or wipers. I have this happen when I drive on I-10 thru Louisiana around those chemical plants. Try isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol), and/or dish soap and water. Then a window treatment like rainx. Let me know if that does/doesn't fix your problem.
However, if the blade rubber is really old and warped upward (usually) it may force too much of a change to the blade-holder angle. Just look at the blade, and if it is warped more than about a 30-degree angle (when free of the windshield), then it is better to replace the blade. The old rubber blades always had this problem, and only lasted about a year or two. Most of the other tricks & gimmicks on the internet do not work very well, and are only temporary solutions. Done all that also.
I only get a year out of mine, but I'm parked outside. Best to wait a week or so after installing new blades to adjust. Once you get them right, you shouldn't have to do much adjusting. It's kind of a compromise. Old blades, dirty window, bent arm, contaminants stuck to the blade, weak spring.... Bunch of stuff can make them skip. If you eliminate all that stuff and they still skip, time to bend the arm. Biggest indicator is skipping one direction and not the other. But old blades will do that anyway.
My rear wiper makes this noise and the offset is fairly visible, the problem is that the arm is plastic not metal, so i cant adjust it like this video.
@stewartbruce8902 @fixpro256 it's a really old peugeot, i think the problem might be tension in the spring, so the fix might be just changing the arm entirely
Be sure to check the text part of the video, it may give you some other ideas.
I have seen many video's on this subject. You most certainly produced a top shelf tutorial. Thank you, and all the best from New Rochelle N.Y.

The wrench treatment worked perfectly, but Man, you've got the most fabulous voice to listen to, especially through headphones!
Let me guess. You aren't from LA (Lower Alabama). I get that a lot from people from other countries. ;-)

Thank you, in a world of "replacing parts" you explained this very well and I didn't have to buy new parts.

Thank you so much for making this video. So useful.
the wrench treatment worked great thanks i have a 97 Lincoln town car and they skiped going up but i did what u said and they work great now

Thank you for such a thorough and detailed explanation, both in the video and the description. Great work!
You're welcome. Be sure to share the technique with your family and friends. It's always surprising how many folks just put up with the racket.
I can't wait to try this tomorrow. Been suffering for years 😭 thanks for the video

God bless u!! I've been dealing with this issue for YEARS and this advice worked! Thank u thank u thank u for sharing this knowledge!

This is an excellent, clear instruction video. Thank you! Well done.

Good example by using the spreader.

Great video
It seems to work on mine. I'm looking forward to see if it stays well through the next months.

What if it skips on both up and down strokes ?

That sucks. Maybe it is a bad design or got too hot? What year, make, and model do you have?
With a plastic arm, you might be able to carefully heat it to soften plastic and make the adjustment. Best of luck to you.

👍👍👏
Noisy wiper, turn the blade around, noise stops.
😂
