Here's a tip you and the viewers may find helpful for baking the hair. I crochet and knit but I also love working with polymer clay. This clay is cured by baking in the oven. There are different degrees for different clays but most commonly it is baked at 275 degrees. Sometimes clay will burn so what is common to do for this problem is take a piece of quilt batting and lay it in a cookie sheet and lay the items on top of the batting. It does not burn and is completely safe. Since you bake the yarn at 250 degrees, it would be safe as well. So if you can't cut your dowels or make a fancy thing a majig, the batting on a cookie sheet would be another way of baking the yarn. Hope this helps!

Have you tried putting starch in your water before soaking the yarn? I think that would help in the curls to prevent dust gathering for the dolls hair. Starch leaves a coating that can be slightly waterproof but when used on clothes it is for making the fabric stay ironed longer as well as last longer. I used to work at a dry cleaners ironing starched shirts. They explained to me why starching is such a good idea. You heavy starch the first time then light starch for a few times then a heavy one again and the fabric looked as good as new every time. Some of the shirts were many years old but still looked as new.
Anyway it is an idea you might try.
    Have a wonderful day

What size dowel rod do you use? I tried it and the yarn didn't curl. can it be that I took them out too early? How many rods do you recommend for Lavender or any of your dolls? I'm almost finish.

Hi! I have a question for you and maybe you can help. Do you think using the wood rods and instead of putting it in the oven using a steam iron would work? i watched a video by Maryl Bird about steam blocking. Once you use steam it sets it. I haven't tried it but would like too. Let me know your thoughts.

    • @TheProperPineapple
