I think there are many people who don't realise what an achievement it was for Mason to come to Australia and learn to play our game at the elite level and win the ultimate prize. Congratulations mate.
The professional golfer David Graham had an awful blended Texan accent overlaid on his Oz manner of speaking. Sorry David. But Mason has Oz overlaid on his Texan accent. He is moving towards the Oz side. Mason also has battled a number of eye injuries similar to my own so I know what he has gone through. All credit to Mason; with a bit more confidence that big frame and long arms of his will be unstoppable.

hes in a great environment for picking up a proper aussie accent too. Especially if hes getting support to use it. A lot of people don't get it as quick because they think they are going to piss someone off by trying to sound Australian.
As an Aussie fan of USAFL. I have been following USAFL for some time now, and I appreciate how much the skill level as improved and how much the league has grown. Mason is a Collingwood legend, who will never be forgotten, he is also a great ambassador for our game and for his adopted country. GoPies.
I just wish my dad was still here to have seen him and of course our Pies win a flag, until 12th February 2021 our weekly catch up during footy season was discussing Mason's game, what we think his role should be(thats a whole other story) and the game as a whole. Every bit of footage, video, photo of Mason on Grand final day i get emotional just thinking about my dad and how bloody proud he would be, my words looking up when the final siren blew was "He bloody did it dad, he bloody did it"
Bumped into Mason and his partner during lockdown in a camping shop in Goldcoast and let him know my wife’s side of the family are MAD one eyed magpie supporters and he simply offered to video himself saying hi to them. Very kind and generous of him. TOP BLOKE
I'm a Dockers supporter, but I love Mason and his story. He is a wonderful ambassador for AFL. Great interview. Maybe in another 5-10 yrs we could have National games.
Man I would love to see AFL become huge in the states. You guys have such amazing athletes over there. If they had pathways for young kids to take up the game it would be great. If Mason had learnt the game as a kid he would of been unstoppable.
Aussie rules is notoriously hard to export. They’ve literally been trying since the 80… The 80s!!! Iv thought about it a lot. And the absolute BEST way is to introduce AUSKICK to American elementary schools as a physical education program. Get kids hooked early.. and as they grow up some will follow the rabbit hole and some won’t. But they will ALL have a core memory of playing this fun sport as a kid. Do that for at least 10years. Well done Mason. You are a champ and I admire you. I am a Bomber fan but I really admire your tenacity. You are the Jim Steynes of today's comp. Enjoy it with your team mates for the rest of your life. Cheers! And your are a true blue Aussie now. Well done!

This year especially, I am quite astonished by how you much have improved especially as a ruckman. Giving your onballers first use has been a major contribution to Collingwood's success this year in my opinion.
As a Aussie Bombers supporter, Mason’s journey has been fantastic to watch. He’s a great ambassador for the sport and for his country. I hope the sport grows in the U.S.
Love how the American interviewer has picked up our lingo, saying things like “barack” and “mate”. As a Richmond Tigers supporter, I admire Mason for not only the massive achievement he’s had in taking on this AFL challenge nine or so years ago but more so for the way he’s integrated himself into our culture, picked up an Aussie accent, became a citizen and really become one of us. Not everyone can do that so easily but with Mason, he’s done it with grace and perseverance. Good on ya mate. 👍🏼
